Evenings are definitely my thing with the way it brings so much peace as the sun sets in the horizon. Adam spent the day with his dad and I used that as an opportunity to connect with his mom more.
We got on so well to a point I call her mama myself. She gives me that motherly love which I never received, making her truly deserving of that title. I say it out of respect knowing that Adam's mom is just like a mom to me too.
She explained a lot about their culture and that's why I come with many questions in my head, waiting to be answered as me and Adam are out on a sunset walk together.
"You know, I never knew you were Egyptian until your mom told me", I say with a smile whilst holding onto his bicep. He scoffs. "She's really exposing me on this visit isn't she?", He says.
I let out a soft laugh. "Pretty much, but I like it. Have you ever been to Egypt?", I ask. "Yeah, when I was young we would go often. Amir lived in England so we would always see each other there for summer", He says and I can tell the memories sparked a light in him.
"Let me guess, you both were crazy kids tormenting your moms?", I say. "No. Our grandmother actually. For an old woman she was fast when it came to throwing her slippers at us", He responds and we both let out chuckle between us.
"So she's not around anymore?", I ask. "Not anymore. We stopped going when she passed away", He says. "I'm so sorry", I say with sympathy. Adam wraps an arm around my shoulder and pulls me closer to him.
"Don't be. Just remind me to get botox whenever I start aging", He says. With a laugh, I poke at his cheek. "So basically now?", I respond and suppress a smile. His eyes meet mine before he pinches my nose.
"One day i'm gunna have to chop that cheeky tongue off", He says in warning and I let out a soft giggle. It's then that we make a sudden spot in front of an old and run down building.
"Why are we here?", I ask. "You'll see", He says before holding out his palm for me to take. I allow my fingers to interlock with his before Adam creaks open the metal door as we enter a dark reception room.
Theres a middle aged man sitting behind the desk with a blonde streak highlighted on the flick of his front fringe. He's watching a fight on the Tv with a smile that allows his gold tooth to glisten from the distance we enter in.
My nose is filled with the smell of cigarettes with each puff that he takes and I can't help the light cough that leaves my lungs. This makes him snap his eyes towards us as we walk further in before they widen in surprise.
"I don't believe it. Is that the king of the barking, Adam Elbaz?", He rasps out before dropping everything to stand and make his way over. Adam grins with his perfect teeth exposed. His hand leaves mine before he grabs onto his and is pulled in for a manly hug.
