Jekyll Without Hyde

We lay side by side,

As bodies nestle together for warmth,

Cold fingers and stiff poses don't meet our fate.

Asleep, we imagine separate universes,

Where the other has no reign,

And screams only exist in nightmares.

Corpses we are not,

Yet we exist in tranquil harmony resembling them.

How unfortunate that peace only exists in silence,

As our souls collide in a moment,

Only to wake up to two masks.

Slumber reunites us to death,

Never each other.
