There was this guy
In the second grade.
He was short, short hair, short attention span.
I was was young, dumb and naive.
We didn't even know how to hold hands.

There was this guy
In the sixth grade.
He was tall, short hair, even shorter temper.
He was abusive, mentally and physically.
We didn't agree politically.

There was this girl
In the seventh grade.
She was tall, butch, long blonde hair.
She didn't love me like I loved her.
In the end, I got hurt.

There was this girl
In the mental hospital.
She was cute, goth, all that mattered in that moment.
We, broken and naive, kissed once.
It was like she healed my cuts.

There was this boy
In eighth and ninth grade.
He was touchy, manipulative, my biggest mistake.
I, a people pleaser, didn't know how to tell him "no."
I'm better off without him, though.

And then there was you.
Tall, short blonde hair, a little bigger.
You were my person.
You were playful, quiet, confident, bold, charming, handsome, perfect.
What else can I say?
But then you went away.

You had to move,
And long distance wouldn't work out.
We still talk, of course.
Just not as much.
I'm just glad we kept in touch.

I still think of you every day.
I still love you in every way.

I'd date you again if I had the chance.
But for now, this is the end of our romance.
