It has been two days since the engagement happened. Only one day is left until the marriage. My Mehendi and Haldi ceremony were held yesterday in our house with close relatives and cousins. My aunt constantly keeps taunting me on my skin tone and how I got such a rich family. I don't know what the problem is with them. But nobody said anything to her, not even my parents. They didn't even bother about me. If I try to talk to them, I get nonchalant answers. Is this the way parents treat their daughter on her big day? Don't I even deserve a little bit of love, respect, and happiness in my life? Last night, my dad, for the first time, called my name and asked me to sit beside him. I thought now everything would be fine and happily sat beside him. That's it; my heart shattered into pieces. He told me to drop my studies and start to focus on my marriage. I felt totally devastated. Studying B. Pharm is my dream to become a pathological lab scientist. But I guess my dream will remain incomplete.

From the day of our engagement, he didn't even call me once, nor do I have the guts to call him directly. His mother and siblings called me to accompany them for wedding outfit and jewelry shopping. I thought he would come, but he didn't. Aunty's told me that he has been busy with his meetings. Thinking of all this, I don't know when I drifted off to sleep.

MARRIAGE DAY:

Today, I am getting married. I don't know why I am feeling so nervous. Can I fulfill my duties as a daughter-in-law and as a wife? Will I ever be able to fit into their high-class society? Will he understand me? Will he guide me on the right path? Will he stand beside me in every situation? I don't know what the future holds, shrugging off my thoughts. I went to get ready; it's already 12 pm, and we have to be there at 2 pm. Sighing, I took a relaxing bath. I got ready, wearing a simple golden saree with a maroon blouse.

"Tia are you ready everyone is waiting for you downstair" roohi said coming towards me
