Jade West and Tori Vega found themselves alone in the cozy cabin during a weekend getaway with their friends. The others had gone out for a late-night hike, leaving Jade and Tori to share a room. The moonlight filtered through the window, casting a soft glow on the wooden floor.
Tori sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers tracing the intricate patterns on the quilt. Jade leaned against the doorframe, her usual tough exterior softened by the quiet intimacy of the moment.
"You know," Tori said, her voice barely above a whisper, "I've always wondered why you're so guarded."
Jade raised an eyebrow. "Guarded? Me? Nah, I'm just misunderstood."
Tori chuckled. "Right. Misunderstood. But seriously, Jade, you don't have to be tough all the time. It's okay to let your guard down."
Jade hesitated, then crossed the room and sat next to Tori. Their shoulders brushed, and Tori's warmth seeped into Jade's skin. "Why are you so insistent on breaking through my walls?" Jade asked, her voice softer than usual.
Tori tilted her head. "Because I see something in you, Jade. Beneath the snark and the leather jackets, there's a vulnerability—a longing for connection."
Jade scoffed. "Connection? What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means," Tori said, "that sometimes we all need someone to hold us, to remind us that we're not alone."
Jade's eyes flickered, and for a moment, she looked almost uncertain. "And you think cuddling is the answer?"
Tori grinned. "Why not? It's just two friends sharing warmth and comfort. No ulterior motives."
Jade rolled her eyes but didn't protest when Tori scooted closer. Tori's head rested on Jade's shoulder, and Jade's arm instinctively wrapped around her. They sat like that, side by side, staring out at the star-studded sky through the window.
"You're not so bad, Tori Vega," Jade murmured.
Tori chuckled. "And you're not so scary, Jade West."
They sat in silence, the rhythm of their breaths syncing. Tori's fingers traced circles on Jade's palm, and Jade closed her eyes, allowing herself to feel something other than anger or indifference.
"Thanks for this," Jade whispered. "For not giving up on me."
Tori squeezed her hand. "Never."
And so, under the moon's gentle gaze, Jade and Tori cuddled on the bed—a moment of vulnerability, a connection forged in the quiet of the night.
