Riley and Josh had been looking forward to their weekend ski trip for months. The excitement was palpable as they packed their bags, but fate had other plans. Just two days before the trip, both of them came down with a nasty flu bug.Riley lay on the couch, surrounded by tissues and a half-empty bottle of orange juice. Her head throbbed, and she felt like she was burning up. The doorbell rang, and she groaned, dragging herself to answer it.Riley: (opening the door) "Josh? What are you doing here? You look terrible!"Josh stood there, pale and shivering, clutching his own box of tissues.Josh: "I thought I'd come over and keep you company. Misery loves company, right?"Before Riley could protest, Topanga appeared behind Josh, looking stern.Topanga: "Josh, you should be in bed! Come on, let's get you settled."Topanga fussed over Josh, making him lie down on the couch and sticking a thermometer in his mouth. Riley watched from her spot, feeling a mix of amusement and sympathy.Topanga: "You two are not going anywhere until you're better. No ski trip, no nothing. Just rest."Josh tried to protest, but Topanga silenced him with a look.Josh: (mumbling around the thermometer) "Fine, fine. But I'm staying here to keep an eye on Riley."Later that EveningJosh and Riley lay on opposite ends of the couch, wrapped in blankets. The TV played softly in the background, but neither of them paid much attention. Riley sighed, staring at the ceiling.Riley: "Josh, can I ask you something?"Josh: "Sure, what's up?"Riley: "Do you ever feel like... like you're not good enough? Like your friends don't really care about you?"Josh turned to look at her, surprised by the vulnerability in her voice.Josh: "Riley, why would you think that?"Riley: "I don't know. Sometimes I just feel like I'm always the one trying to keep everyone happy, but no one really sees me. They just see what they want to see."Josh reached out and took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.Josh: "Riley, you're one of the most caring, thoughtful people I know. If your friends don't see that, then they're the ones missing out. You deserve to be treated with the same kindness you show others."Riley's eyes filled with tears, but she smiled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.Riley: "Thanks, Josh. That means a lot."The Next MorningTopanga checked on them, finding both Riley and Josh looking a bit better. She smiled, relieved.Topanga: "How are my patients today?"Josh: "Better, thanks to you. And thanks to Riley for being such a good friend."Riley blushed, but she felt a newfound sense of confidence. Maybe this flu bug had brought more than just misery; it had brought clarity and a deeper bond with Josh.As they continued to recover, Riley realized that she didn't need to change who she was. She just needed to surround herself with people who appreciated her for her true self
