Jade West had always been the tough one—the girl with the leather jacket, the sharp tongue, and the icy glare. But when she woke up one morning feeling like a truck had run her over, she realized that even the toughest of hearts could falter.

Tori Vega, her frenemy (if you could even call her that), noticed Jade's pale complexion and the way she clutched her stomach. "Jade," Tori said, concern etching her features, "are you okay?"

Jade scowled. "Define 'okay.'"

Tori rolled her eyes. "You look like you're about to hurl. Maybe you should lie down."

Jade grumbled but allowed Tori to guide her to the bed. She sank onto the mattress, feeling utterly miserable. "This is ridiculous," she muttered. "I don't get sick."

Tori sat beside her, tucking a strand of hair behind Jade's ear. "Nobody's invincible, Jade. Even you."

Jade scoffed. "I'm not—"

"—invincible," Tori finished. "Yeah, yeah. But you're still human."

Tori fetched a glass of water and handed it to Jade. "Drink this," she ordered. "And no snarky comments."

Jade took a sip, her throat scratchy. "Why are you being nice to me?"

Tori shrugged. "Because I'm not heartless. Besides, we're stuck in this cabin together. Might as well make the best of it."

Jade's eyes narrowed. "You're not going to tell anyone about this, are you?"

Tori grinned. "Your secret's safe with me, tough girl."

And so, Tori played nurse. She fluffed Jade's pillows, brought her chicken soup, and even sang a terrible rendition of "Soft Kitty" from "The Big Bang Theory." Jade pretended to hate it, but secretly, she found comfort in Tori's presence.

"You're not so bad," Jade mumbled, her voice weak.

Tori chuckled. "High praise coming from you."

As the day wore on, Tori stayed by Jade's side. She read aloud from a cheesy romance novel, and Jade pretended to be annoyed but secretly enjoyed the distraction. Tori's touch was gentle as she tucked the blanket around Jade, and for once, Jade didn't push her away.

"You know," Tori said softly, "we don't have to be enemies all the time."

Jade raised an eyebrow. "What are you suggesting? A truce?"

Tori grinned. "Maybe. Or just... a ceasefire while you recover."

Jade closed her eyes, exhaustion pulling at her. "Fine. But don't think this means I like you."

Tori leaned in, her lips brushing Jade's forehead. "I'll take what I can get."

And so, in that small cabin, Jade West—the girl who rarely showed vulnerability—allowed Tori Vega to care for her. Maybe enemies could become something more. Or maybe they'd go back to their usual sniping once Jade felt better.

But for now, Tori's warmth and kindness were enough to chase away the chills, and Jade drifted off to sleep, knowing that sometimes, even the toughest hearts needed a little comfort.
