Dylan Blake stood outside the Trang mansion, her heart racing. She'd broken in with the Bling Ring, seeking answers about her missing father. But now, the alarm blared, and panic surged through her veins.
Teddy Ralston, the charming troublemaker, leaned against the wall. "Allergic to fun, Blake?" he teased, his eyes dancing.
Dylan glared. "This isn't a game, Teddy."
In the dim light, their gazes locked—a collision of fire and ice. They'd once been more than enemies, but life had torn them apart. Now, fate had thrown them together again.
"Let's bail," Teddy suggested, ever the pragmatist.
"No," Dylan said, her voice firm. "I need answers."
They moved through the mansion, adrenaline fueling their steps. Dylan's anger simmered—anger at her father for vanishing, anger at Teddy for breaking her heart.
In a quiet room, Teddy cornered her. "Why are you doing this, Dylan?"
She clenched her fists. "Because I won't rest until I find my dad."
His eyes softened. "And what about us? What we had?"
Dylan's breath hitched. "That's ancient history."
Teddy stepped closer, his touch electric. "Is it? Because I remember every kiss, every whispered promise."
She pushed him away. "You left me, Teddy. You chose your secrets over us."
His jaw tightened. "I thought I was protecting you."
"Well, congratulations," she snapped. "You broke me."
Teddy's gaze bore into hers. "I never stopped loving you."
Dylan's heart wavered. "Love isn't enough."
He cupped her face. "Maybe it is. Maybe we can heal each other."
And then, in that stolen moment, Teddy kissed her—a desperate collision of lips and memories. The past surged forward—their laughter, their fights, the way he'd held her during thunderstorms.
"I'm sorry," he whispered against her mouth. "For everything."
Dylan's tears blurred her vision. "I can't trust you again."
"But I'll prove myself," Teddy vowed. "Starting now."
They left the mansion, hand in hand. The alarm still echoed, but Dylan's heart beat louder. She'd confront her father's secrets, but maybe—just maybe—she'd find healing in Teddy's arms.
Outside, rain began to fall—a cleansing downpour. And as they stood there, soaked and broken, Dylan wondered if love could be their refuge.
