Zoey Brooks sat on the grassy hill overlooking PCA—the Pacific Coast Academy. Her sketchbook rested on her lap, and her pencil traced the contours of the campus. She loved capturing moments—the way the sun kissed the ocean, the laughter echoing in the quad.

Chase Matthews, her best friend, settled beside her. His blue eyes were intense, focused on the horizon. "What are you drawing, Zoey?"

She grinned. "You."

Chase blinked. "Me?"

"Yeah." Zoey's pencil moved swiftly, capturing his features—the unruly hair, the determined jawline. "You're my muse, Chase."

He chuckled. "I'm flattered. But why?"

"Because you see things differently." Zoey's gaze lingered on his profile. "You notice the little details—the way the leaves rustle, the hidden smiles."

Chase leaned closer, their shoulders touching. "And what do you see, Zoey?"

She hesitated, then whispered, "I see someone who's always been there. Through the pranks, the late-night talks, the heartaches."

Chase's hand found hers. "And what else?"

Zoey's heart raced. "I see someone I can't imagine PCA without. Someone who's more than a friend."

He turned toward her, his lips inches away. "Zoey, I—"

Before he could finish, she kissed him—a sweet collision of longing and friendship. The world blurred, and for that moment, it was just Zoey and Chase, their souls sketched together.
