Patricia and Eddie had always been like oil and water—their personalities clashed, their banter sharp. But beneath the teasing and eye rolls, there was a spark—an unspoken connection that neither of them dared to acknowledge.
One chilly December afternoon, the Anubis House was decked out in holiday decorations. Mistletoe hung in every corner, and Patricia couldn't help but roll her eyes at the romantic atmosphere. "Seriously," she muttered to Mara, "who even believes in mistletoe magic?"
Mara grinned. "You never know," she said. "Maybe it'll work for someone unexpected."
Eddie overheard their conversation and couldn't resist. "Patricia," he called, "you're not afraid of a little mistletoe, are you?"
She scoffed. "Please. I've seen enough cheesy Hallmark movies to last a lifetime."
But Eddie's eyes twinkled. "Well, then," he said, "how about a challenge? Whoever gets caught under the mistletoe first has to—"
Patricia cut him off. "Has to what?"
He leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. "Has to admit they secretly love Christmas."
And so, the battle began. Patricia and Eddie made it their mission to avoid the mistletoe at all costs. They ducked, dodged, and even crawled on the floor to escape its clutches. The other housemates watched, amused, as the tension between them grew.
One evening, during a game of Secret Santa, Patricia unwrapped her gift—a small sprig of mistletoe. She glared at Eddie. "You rigged this, didn't you?"
He shrugged innocently. "Just a little holiday cheer."
But fate had other plans. One night, as they both reached for the last cookie on the dessert table, their hands brushed. Patricia's heart stuttered, and Eddie's eyes widened. They were standing right under the mistletoe.
"Uh-oh," Mara whispered to Jerome. "This could get interesting."
Patricia tried to step back, but Eddie's hand held her in place. "Wait," he said, his voice surprisingly gentle. "Before we escape, there's something I need to say."
Her breath caught. "What?"
Eddie's lips curved into a half-smile. "I secretly love Christmas," he confessed. "And maybe, just maybe, I secretly—"
And then he kissed her—a soft, sweet kiss that tasted like gingerbread and hope. The room faded away, and Patricia melted into the moment.
When they pulled apart, Patricia's cheeks were flushed. "You rigged this, didn't you?" she teased.
Eddie shook his head. "Nope," he said. "Sometimes, even mistletoe magic surprises us."
And as the Anubis House erupted in cheers, Patricia realized that maybe—just maybe—there was something magical about the holiday season after all.
