It was a regular, rainy Thursday afternoon and the roommates were sat on Bobby's bed, attempting to play bird bingo.
"Just explain it to me one more time." Juno said to her roommate, who was trying his best to explain the rules.
He playfully rolled his eyes at her before restarting. "Wait so it's basically regular bingo?" She questioned.
"Technically yes but it's bird bingo." Bobby stated, setting up the cards.
"Will you let me win the first time?" She asked him politely with a smile.
"Sorry, I don't lose bird bingo." He shrugged his shoulders, ignoring her protests.
"If I got a dollar for each time you said bird bingo, I'd be a millionaire." Juno spoke dramatically as he shook his head.
"Whatever. Are you ready to lose?" Bobby said in a competitive tone.
"You challenging me, Skeetz?" She raised her eyebrows slightly at him.
"Oh, 100%." He started to laugh, watching as she grew annoyed at him.
"Okay. Toucan play at this game." Juno joked, hoping he'd find it at least a little bit funny.
Bobby's face dropped. "You've been waiting to say that, haven't you?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
She nodded in response, "yes but you have to admit it was funny!" Juno laughed to herself as she saw him hold back a smile.
The rain grew heavier, pattering on the window noisily as thunder rumbled across the sky. Lightning struck harshly, making Juno jump. She wasn't particularly a fan of storms but she knew she had to just get through it.
"I didn't know you were scared of storms." He told her, completely forgetting about the game they were supposed to play.
She suddenly felt embarrassed about her fear. "It's the noise." She explained to him, "are you ready for the game?"
"Absolutely." Bobby instantly agreed and they went to back to playing the game.
After kicking his ass at bird bingo, Juno made it her job to remind him every second of the evening. The storm was still strong and the lightning was still striking, it was definitely not going to calm down any time soon.
The two were now laid down on the bedroom floor in Juno's room, staring up at the ceiling where it was patterned with glow in the dark stars.
"Okay, I've got one." Bobby spoke up, breaking the silence. "What's the best way to avoid getting bird flu?" He asked, letting out a small laugh before continuing.
"I don't know." She answered. "Getting emu-nized." He finished as they both bursted out laughing together.
"You really quack me up." Juno giggled, leaning into his shoulder as he let out a loud snort, making them laugh all over again.
Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open to reveal a drenched Eli. It was clear that he'd been out in the storm.
He looked down at the pair that were on the floor and pulled a face. "What have you been smoking?" Eli asked, genuinely curious. "Are you guys feeling okay?"
Juno gave Bobby a quick look before turning back to Eli. "Just a bit peckish." She shrugged her shoulders, having a fit of giggles again.
"I'm sure it's tweetable." Bobby followed on, making Eli even more concerned than before.
He was definitely going to need backup....
