Harry and Ann met up with Ron and Hermione after Quiditich practice the next day outside the castle to talk to Hagrid about what happened to Harry's broom. They spotted Hagrid heading to his cabin and explained to him their theory on Snape jinxing the broom, but Hagrid didn't believe them.
"Nonsense. Why would Snape put a curse on Harry's broom?," Hagrid asked them
"Who knows," Harry said,
"Ok then well why was he trying to get past that three-headed dog on Halloween?," Ann added
"Who told you 'bout Fluffy?," Hagrid asked the four.
"Fluffy??," Ron asked.
"You mean that three-headed dog?," Hermoine asked.
"That thing has a name?," Ann said.
"Well, of course he's got a name. He's mine. I bought him off an Irish feller I met down at the pub last year. Then I lent him to Dumbledore to guard the…," But Hagrid stopped himself from saying more.
"Yes?," Harry said anxiously.
"Shouldn'ta said that. Don't ask anymore questions. That's top secret, that is," Hagrid said
"But Hagrid whatever Fluffy's guarding, Snape's trying to steal it!," Harry argued
"Codswallop! Professor Snape is a Hogwarts teacher!," Hagrid said,
"Who cares if he's a Hogwarts teacher, Hagrid!," Ann said.
"She's right. Hogwarts teacher or not, I know a curse when I see one. I've read all about them. You have to keep eye contact. And Snape wasn't blinking," Hermoine added
"Exactly," Harry said. Hagrid sighed.
"Now, you listen to me, all four of you. You're meddling' in things that ought not be meddled in. It's dangerous. What that dog is guarding is strictly between Professor Dumbledore and Nicholas Flamel," Hagrid said
"Nicholas Flamel?," Harry said confused. Hagrid walked off muttering to himself.
"Nicholas Flamel..." Ron said as Hagrid continued walking away,
"Who's Nicholas Flamel?,"Ann asked.
"I don't know," Hermione said.
