*Narrator*

Carolyn woke around twelve in the afternoon due to her grumbling stomach. Pain shot throughout her lower abdomen due to barely eating anything in days. She groaned as she got out of bed and began getting ready to go to the kitchen. Despite the pain she felt light as a feather by the fact that she was off today and didn't have to go to that hell hole she calls work.

She dragged herself to the kitchen where she warmed up her pizza and had the left over slices before taking a shower. Cold water greeted her and woke her up a bit. She was not showering with cold water by choice but by rather the terrible geyser that didn't work properly. After her cold shower she dressed up in a summer knee length flory yellow dress, she wore sneakers with the dress and brushed out her tangled natural Afro hair.

It took a while so in the end she just tired it up in a neat ponytail. She grabbed her cute little purse before heading out. Her mind far away as she walked to her nearest grocery store. She had a lot to get due to always leaving everything to the last minute.

The store wasn't as full as it usually was which made sense for a Thursday afternoon. She grabbed a large trolley before heading down different isles with her checklist. One by one she collected what was on her list and a few not on it. She turned the corner before a force bumped into her trolley out of nowhere. She looked down with concern before a loud howl was heard from a child.

A little boy had ran around the corner straight into her trolly. Carolyn's dull world lit up slightly as she panicked, adrenaline pumping through her body as she rushed to the little child who barely looked six.

"Oh I'm so sorry," she hurriedly said as she knelt down and picked him up, cuddling him in her arms as she patted his back and rocked him.

She repeatedly apologised as she looked around for any signs of the child's parent. She was panicking beyond words and her heart was beating out of control. Don't get her wrong, she absolutely adored children with all her being but dealing with a crying child never came easy to anyone let alone her. Seeing a child so upset made her want to cry herself, her very emotions went haywire for the first time in weeks as she tried to look for the child's mother.

Fortunately the child calmed down in her arms and hugged Carolyn tightly. Carolyn stopped in her tracks for a second, feeling the warmth of the child made her heart melt as a small smile crept upon her worried face.

"DANIEL!" A distressed female voice cried as she saw Carolyn.

"I believe this is yours." Carolyn said blankly as she gently pried the child off her and handed him to his mother.

"Thank you so much," the mother thanked Carolyn repeatedly with tears glistening in her eyes.

"No problem," Carolyn managed a small smile before leaving the mother and child.

She grabbed her trolley and continued her shopping, unbeknownst to her that she was being watched.

She entered the cereal isle when she passed another customer. She barely paid any mind to them as she searched for her favourite cereal. But upon passing the customer something fell from their trolley drawing Carolyn's attention.

She instinctively bent down to pick up the item, which happened to be a packet of crisps.

"Excuse me, I believe this-" the words got caught in her mouth as she got up to face the person behind the trolley.

Suddenly her world was full of colour, her heart raced like never before as she felt like she was floating. Her mind was going crazy not to mention every hormone in her body.

Carolyn had met her fair share of bachelors in her lifetime but she had never met such a striking face in her lifetime. The man before her towered over her like a giant, his piecing eyes the darkest of blues like the ocean that threatened to drown sailors on a stormy night. His skin light toned and free of any blemishes, a jawline that could cut through glass and a muscular built that screamed with dominance.
