Carolyn woke with more energy then usual, reason being the cloudy sky.

She loved rainy days, from the chill in the air sending goosebumps up her arms to the dark clouds that emitted her constant internal battle. It felt like the world was acknowledging her pain and expressing it for her. The harsh rain a portrait of her unshed tears, the strong winds a synonym of her deep rooted anger at the world. And the bone chilling cold a display of her detachment to emotions.

A rainy day, Carolyn's favourite thing in the world.

She left her apartment for work with lighter shoulders and a pep to her walk. Once she arrived at work, the morning flew by too quick for her liking. Soon enough it was the afternoon. She took her break and decided to go for a little walk in the rain. Her big umbrella was hoisted up and being swayed by the wind.

In the end she closed it and began walking in the rain, her clothes getting slightly dumb but she didn't mind. A small smile graced her lips as she twirled around in the rain, staring at the sky in gratitude. Carolyn didn't particularly like expressing herself much because people either took it the wrong way or ignored what she was trying to say so she just compressed it all. But when she let it out, it was destructive.

To some people passing by, Carolyn might've looked like a random crazy lady dancing in the rain. But at that point she didn't care one bit, for once she was doing something that made her happy and she didn't care what anyone else said or thought.

Carolyn threw open her umbrella and walked to a cafè near her.

"Good afternoon ma'am, how can I help you?" A waiter asked once she entered the cosy café that had a coffee aroma. The place was warm and cozy.

"Table for one please." Carolyn said with a small smile.

"Right this way," the waiter led Carolyn to a warm corner in the cafe and offered her a menu.

"Hot chocolate please, super hot," she said with a cold shiver.

"Coming right up." The waiter said with a boyish smirk before he left.

Carolyn shivered as she hugged herself. She looked around the café and notice how quiet it was. The only people around were an elderly couple enjoying some hot beverages, a college student by the looks of it and the odd individuals here and there.

The only thing on Carolyn's mind was getting home and cuddling with her blankets while watching her latest favourite show; The Vampire Diaries. The show had her hooked on the first episode, perhaps it has to do with the drop dead gorgeous brothers but who knew.

"Your hot chocolate ma'am, extra hot as requested." The waiter handed Carolyn her drink with a playful look.

She smiled gratefully at him, ignorant to his advances. The young man beamed before leaving to attend to other customers. Carolyn held her cup with both hands and melted at the warm embrace. She brought it to her lips before she blew on it gently and took a sip.

The warm liquid entered her mouth and invaded her body leaving behind a warm trail. She sighed in content before taking another big gulp.

"Hi the-" a voice so hypnotising yet familiar made Carolyn jump.

The hot chocolate burned her lips and splashed out burning her fingers as well.

"Shit," Carolyn and the stranger said in union.

Tears burned the back of Carolyn's eyes as she wiped her hands and mouth with a serviette.

"I'm so sorry," a deep Italian voice apologised repeatedly.
