Carolyn couldn't believe what she was seeing. A fountain chocolate was presented in the middle of the buffet table. A sight that had her mouth watering, so much delicious looking food was available on a long buffet table. A few people hovered around the table, chatting away with their choice of drink.

The scent of mixed perfumes and food hung in the air. Carolyn's nose twitched in irritation, she sucked in a deep breath through her mouth to avoid a sneeze. Her allergies were acting up but she wouldn't let that ruin the day.

"Care for a sausage roll?" Hans asked, catching Carolyn off guard.

She was too locked in her own thoughts to realise Hans was watching her every move. He could tell she felt out of place and the only way to distract her was make her focus on him. Hence the sausage roll in his hand, he guided it towards her mouth. Carolyn scrunched her eyebrows frozen in place, her heart was racing out of control.

She didn't know what to do, her inner self was panicking yet she couldn't decline his offer either. With a small gulp she opened her mouth and let Hans place the sausage roll on her tongue. The heavy eye contact made her feel hotter than the sun. But he didn't stop there, when she closed her mouth his finger lingered.

Carolyn immediately pulled back her head in shock, her eyes bulging out of control. She couldn't believe what just happened. She could still feel the ghost of his warm finger inside her mouth. A very strange yet erotic feeling engulfed her.

What made matters worse was Hans direct stare, watching her every move. His stare was hot and intense, making Carolyn squirm.

"Well well, look what the cat dragged in." The couple were interrupted by a bulky looking man in a suit.

The man stood at Hans height with a rather large belly and unappealing face that was red with spots all over. Hans tightened his hold on Carolyn pulling her closer to his side. Carolyn was confused by the action but paid no mind to it as she enjoyed the close proximity.

"I believe that's my line," Hans said with a hard stare.

"Come now must you always be so animalistic?" The bulky man said with a sinister smirk. His accent thick with a Scottish background.

Hans gritted his teeth, it took every ounce of power in him to resist jumping the man. Carolyn could feel the tension in the air, not to mention the tight grip Hans had on her. It came to a painful point where she had to try and remove her hand from his.

That was the wake up call Hans needed as all his anger vanished. His hand loosened as he let her hand go,a slight ache was felt in his heart at causing Carolyn pain.

"Sorry kitten, I didn't mean to do that." Hans apologised sincerely.

"It's ok," Carolyn said with a forced smile.

"We'll look at that, the donkey finally learned some manners." The bulky man said sinisterly.

A look of pure menace graced Hans face, a look so terrifying it left Carolyn fearing for her life. It felt as though all her courage and determination vanished within that second, in its place an irrational fear wrapped around her like a warm blanket. A dark cloud engulfed Hans as he glared such intense daggers at the bulky man.

The man took a step back in fear, feeling as though a starved lion was inching towards him. His life was in danger.

"Tsk, fix that face before someone else fixes it for you." The bulky man tried to sound confidence but his entire body was drenched in sweat and fear.

He turned around and left the couple with a bit of a step to his walk. Like a dog running away with its tail in between its legs.

"Sorry about him, he can be an absolute pain in the ass but he's harmless." Hans tried to reassure Carolyn.

True to his words, Carolyn didn't find the bulky man threatening in any way. It was Hans she now saw in a new view, the man looked like the devil himself a few moments again, yet now he looked like his ordinary golden retriever self. Carolyn had never met such a complex person in her entire life, her feelings were wavering.

"It's ok," Carolyn forced a smile.

"Can I get you a drink?" Hans asked trying to change the topic.

"Yes please, if you're heading to the bar a run on the rocks please." Carolyn said without a care.

She needed something to calm her heart and anxiety.

"Coming right up kitten," Hans said with a smirk, loving this confident side of her.

Truth be told, he also needed a drink but considering he was driving he couldn't risk putting Carolyn in harms way. With dropped shoulders he headed to the bar.

Carolyn watched his broad shoulders as he walked to the bar. She couldn't read what he was thinking but she knew Hans was no man to mess with and that chilled her to the core.

"What have I gotten myself into?" She asked herself.

She sighed before munching down on another piece of sausage roll, the previous sausage roll she ate still fresh on her mind.

"Hi there," Carolyn was greeted by a short petite woman.

The woman was the same height as Carolyn and looked to be about the same age. Her caramel skin free of any blemishes, eyes such a beautiful hazel colour. Not to mention her cute button face. She was a very pretty woman with curves in the right places, from her overflowing breasts to her cute firm butt. Her Victorian short dress magnifying her beauty.

"Hi?" Carolyn asked more of a question than a statement. She just felt so out of place and wondered what such a beautiful woman wanted with her.

"Sorry to intrude, you just looked so uncomfortable and I wanted to make sure you're ok. But please correct me if I'm wrong." The woman said politely.

"It's no problem at all, but you're right. This isn't my type of tea party." Carolyn sigh, finally letting down her walls.

She felt comfortable talking to a complete stranger rather than someone she knew.

"Me and you both sister," the woman sighed clearly drained from all the social talks.

Carolyn chuckled faintly, glad to have found someone who felt the same.

"I'm Carolyn," she introduced herself.

"I'm Stephanie," the woman said with a wide smile extending her hand.

They shook hands and an instant connection was formed. The two spoke about everything and anything feeling as though a weight was lifted off their shoulders.

"Can you believe people actually enjoy this," Stephanie laughed in mockery as she lifted up a weird looking snack.

"You can say that again," Carolyn chuckled as she wrinkled her nose at the disgusting food she was holding.

The two were interrupted by Hans return. He had two glasses in his hands, one for Carolyn's drink and the other a sparking apple juice.

"Hey, thank you." Carolyn said with a blinding smile as she took her drink.

Hans was shocked at her change of mood, but he wasn't complaining. In fact he was over joyed, her smile brought warmth.

Carolyn gulped down the shot of whiskey in mere seconds. She winced at the taste that slowly numbed her mouth and body.

"Ahh, that's the spot." She sighed in content.

"Hard liquor, you're definitely my type of girl." Stephanie said with a smirk.

"Oh this is nothing girl, give me a bottle of tequila and you'll see the real deal." Carolyn said confidently.

"Ooh it's so on." Stephanie said as she flagged down a waiter and got two glasses of champagne. She gulped them down with a content sigh.

Carolyn beamed from ear to ear. Hans on the other hand was watching Stephanie with a calculating stare. He wasn't sure what her angle was but he was going to make sure she didn't hurt his kitten in any shape or form. If she did, it would be the last thing she would do.
