Light shone through Carolyn's thin curtains. She groaned as she turned away from them. Not having much sleep the previous night left her feeling like a zombie. Her eyelids felt so heavy and her body ached everywhere as though she was in the gym all day yesterday.

She groaned as her alarm started beeping, a wake up call for work and reality. She got up and began her usual morning routine, shower, dress up and departure without eating.

Carolyn wasn't much of a morning person hence the constant dark bags under her eyes. To dampen her mood more, the sky was pretty clear with the occasional clouds here and there. The suns harsh rays stinging her sensitive eyes.

She didn't mind the sunny days but she preferred winter. Sunny days reminded her of people who were always cheery and never sad, fake people who were exhausting to be around. And just like the sun, from a distance they look charming and inviting but come closer and you realise just how dangerous they can be. That is why Carolyn didn't have friends her age, people were just too fake or demanding, the only people tolerable were a few of her coworkers who shared her feelings.

"WATCH IT LADY! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET YOURSELF KILLED!" A driver yelled from the drivers seat.

Carolyn hadn't realised she had walked onto the road. But lucky for her she was on the pedestrian path hence the driver couldn't do anything. Carolyn just gave him a blank stare and continued walking to work, dreading it every second.

"I really need to get a hobby." She thought aimlessly

Carolyn wasn't a complete robot, she enjoyed a few things such as reading, watching movies and going out for a stroll. But had she made any friends she might've been more outgoing and not always shrinking in herself every waking moment. But making friends as an adult was easier said then done, so the thought of having a romantic relationship was even more absurd of an idea.

She couldn't believe Hans, a man that seemed perfect in every sense of the word would be interested in her. She just couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong somewhere but she allowed hope to lead her mind, a strategy she would dearly regret later on.

The bell above the door rang as she opened the door. The heat from outside didn't light a candle to the heat inside the shop. Carolyn groaned before she put on the air conditioning and opened the back windows.

" Good morning Carol." Melissa greeted her.

Carolyn looked up at the tall redhead with curiosity. Melissa was a gentle giant with a heart of gold, she stood at 5'7 with Jade coloureds eyes that were a sight for sore eyes. Freckles littered her heart shaped face, with a light golden complexion it was no wonder a lot of men were attracted to her. Carolyn couldn't understand why Melissa was so friendly to her.

"Good morning Mel," Carolyn greeted , her voice barely above a whisper.

"How was your night?" Melissa asked the quiet Princess.

Melissa didn't judge people based on looks or first impressions which is why she was dying to be friends with Carolyn. She found Carolyn to be such a beautiful soul yet so antisocial. Out of all the people Melissa has met, she's never met such a complex person like Carolyn. One moment Carolyn was as sweet as honey and the next she was as silent as a monk. But that didn't stop Melissa from trying to be friends with her.

Carolyn made herself scarce to her coworkers thus there being different friendship groups such as high school. She was the only one not associated with any of her coworkers but she was fine with that.

"It was good and yours?" Carolyn asked as she placed her bag down.

"It was good, my girlfriend came over so that was a highlight for me." Melissa beamed making the room hotter then it already was.
