The jeep finally came to a halt. The atmosphere was surprisingly relaxing. The wind wasn't too strong but it's still very cold. Me and my squad got off the jeep, the snow crunched as we stepped on it. Dan simply reversed and drove away, leaving up on the path of the snowy road. I look at the others that towered at me,

Ben: "So, where are we headed to?" I asked them, holding onto the strap of my gun on my shoulder.

Haley: "We'll have to wait for orders, you were given a radio weren't you?" She said.

I looked down on my plate carrier and spotted my radio, clipped to the straps. I nodded at her,

Haley: "Good, we'll be using channel 87.50 FM." She said, to which we all nodded.

I adjusted the radio until it was on the frequency of 87.50 Hz. We tested out radios before moving in a group. After seeing that all of them were holding their guns, I did the same too,

Ben: "Where exactly are we going?" I asked, looking around us to see only trees.

Haley nodded and pointed at her visor, that I didn't notice last time. I looked at it closely,

Ben: "What about it?"

Haley: "It's a holographic visor, silly."

Holographic visor? Jeez these anthros were definitely a long way ahead of us.

I looked at it curiosly as we walked, but I didn't ask anything about on how it works. It looked really cool though. After sometime of following Haley from behind, I decided to ask.

Ben: "So, what got you guys into the military?" The question seemed to tense all of them up.

Sarah was the first on the answer,

Sarah: "Killin' people." She spoke in an unserious way.

I turned to look at her and everyone did the same. She chuckled,

Sarah: "I'm just kiddin'. I'm here cause I wanna go far away from my parents..."

This made everyone else tense down, but I felt curious and pity,

Ben: "And why is that?" I asked her.

She didn't seem angry though, she blinked a few times as if trying to remember something that's so deep into her mind,

Sarah: "I just don't like how they always ignore me. I made more friends here rather than in high school." She shrugs, "But I definitely prefer here even though I'm obviously risking my life." She added, "I'm also just following Haley."

I nodded, she seemed to be more comfortable around me rather than last time,

Ben: "How about you Haley?"

She was focused on her visor but spoke,

Haley: "I guess I just wanted to fight for my side." She simply said.

To which I nodded, I understood how she wants to protect and serve her kind. Though this is not the way. I then turned to look at Melissa. She looks at me with tired eyes,

Mel: "Money." She spoke with a raspy voice as usual.

Ben: "Well that's understandable too."

After a few steps I noticed they were looking at me, I then realised that I didn't say why I joined the military. But then I remembered, mentioning that I came from prison might make them to veiw me differently. I was given a choice wether I should be honest or lie. By now I already told many lies so I decided to be truthful.
