The moment I arrived at my new room, I locked myself in. I didn't really expect to see him. It's been almost twelve years, how has it been almost twelve years?! I threw my backpack onto the bed in the room. I needed to calm down, it was clear he didn't remember me or else he wouldn't have just ran past. I went into the bathroom and turned on the light.
I looked so different then when I was five. I had a gruff appearance, and the worse change was that I had only one eye. I let out a low groan, this wasn't good, he won't remember me. I mean could he anyway? The reason we were separated, it wiped my memories to the point where I could only remember Sonic, who says he can remember me? I felt like smashing the mirror now.
I walked back out of my room when I heard a knock on my door. I unlocked the manual lock, I didn't want to figure out the digital lock and tech revolts, not trusting them with keeping me safe. It was a little bunny. She had white fluffy towels, a bag that smells like cookies, and some other toiletries that I have never owned for more than a week. "Hello, I'm Cream. Miss Sally said that I should bring these to you, Miss."
I smiled softly and bent down to her level. "It's nice to meet you, Cream. My name is Sage Calloway."
She smiled back and handed me the things in her arms. She looked used to doing this kind of work, I wonder how long she's been doing this. "Those are my mother's recipe" She pointed at the cookie bag. "Sally said you looked raised in the forest and my mother wondered if you had anything sweet."
"Truthfully, not for a long time, Cream. Thank you, I'll make sure to thank your mother once I figure out who's who here" I stood up and patted her head. A small chao poked out from between her legs, and I laughed. I set the things down on the small table near the door and bent down again to the chao. "And who's this little guy?"
"His name is Cheese, he's my best friend" I held out my hand to him and he stepped onto it with no hesitation. I smiled and rubbed his cheek with my finger. I remembered a feeling like this somewhere, but I couldn't stop, to go through my memories at the moment like I normally do, I had a kid in front of me. "Aw he likes you!"
Sure enough, He was playing with the hand that wasn't holding him. I winced softly, his little hands touching a fresh wound, but I didn't mind. Kids were chaotic and I loved it. Cream seemed to see my small jolt and immediately brought Cheese away, checking my arm. "Oh my, that's pretty deep."
"Kid, its fine, I've had deeper" I pointed at my eye and her eyes widen. Scars were probably something she didn't see much of; good, a little kid like her shouldn't see the cruelness of the world, for now. "It will heal, I just need to patch it up."
Cream nodded, her eyes not leaving my scar. "You wanna touch it?" Cream seemed to jump a foot back at my question, I didn't mind people touching the scar, it was a part of me. I just embrace it.
"I-It wouldn't hurt you?" I shook my head and she hesitantly reached out her small hand to touch the scar. Her eyes widen as she ran her finger down the scar. I made sure to close my right eye while she did this. It still hurts if someone touched the actual eye but the scar not so much. The scar being touched is actually soothing.
"Cream?" I heard an older woman's voice from up the hallway. Cream stopped touching the scar and turned her head to the voice, I looked as well. It was another bunny, older and she looked like Cream. I stood up and simply covered my eye back with my hair. "I was wondering what was keeping you. I'm sorry if she did something you didn't want her to do."
"Not at all, you must be her mother, I'm Sage. I'm the new recruit here" I gave her a small smile and she laughed easily.
"Yes I am, I'm Vanilla, nice to meet you, Sage" She held her hand to me, and I was going to take it when Cream grabbed the arm that cheese was playing on earlier. I easily lifted my arm and up she went too. She broke out laughing.
"You're not supposed to use this arm! You're hurt!"
"Says the one dangling from it" I poked her stomach and she giggled more. I lowered her down and she let go afterwards. She was so innocent compared to other kids I've seen outside of this place. Vanilla laughed too, clearly enjoying the pleasant noise her daughter made.
"Come on, Cream, let's leave her to settle. She looks quite tired" Vanilla took Cream's hand and smiled at me. I nodded in thanks and turned back to my room, my tail swaying lightly. The door locked behind me and I let out a sigh, I was not expecting to meet a child in this place. Children were kept away from the battlefield normally, but she was quite strong. There was something else about her as well.
She had this muted aura around her, the grace of wind perhaps. It wasn't strong, perhaps she doesn't know about it. I mean she was only around twelve years old.
I looked at the bag of cookies, ripping it open. Chocolate chip, I think that was my favorite. I sniffed a cookie, it was fresh and nicely cooked, I could smell the melting chocolate. Perhaps, this place will be different, no more pain or trickery. Nothing like what Eggman did to me.
I looked into the bathroom; its door was still open. The mirror reflected back to me, showing my scar. I closed the door, cutting off my trance of my scar, cutting the memories that haunt me still. It was time to move on, time to find out what happened to me...
