My night was sleepless, so it was spent in the gym where that ai found me. My legs swung as I pulled my chin over the bar once more, my hands tight. "Sage, Sally requests your presence in the conference room" It was around eight so people would be awake.
"If I knew where that was, I would" I dropped down, wiping my hands off on my pants and stretching, several of my joint's cracking, popping, or even crunching with my movement. The Ai seemed to wince but I simply shrugged, grabbing a towel to rub down with.
"I could lead you there, it would be beneficial if you learned the layout of the building" I looked at her again, still unsure about this ai. The last thing that I trusted that came to tech was lights and I barely trusted those most times, so I kept to battery powered stuff or candles.
"Fine, I suppose that's a good point. Lead on" I motioned her to go first, pulling my shoes back on as I moved along behind her.
What in the world could Sally need from me? I mean, I know that I'm new and everything. Thought, Shadow wouldn't, would they? Shadow knew things about me that I would like no one to ever know but they couldn't reveal stuff about me without exposing themselves. I bit on my lower lip, Shadow was partly off the list on why Sally walked to talk to me, but they would never be off of it.
The ai opened the door and several resistance fighters were in the room, chatting like there was no tomorrow. My eye looked over everyone, my breath catching as I laid eyes on Sonic. He was tall; his quills grown out. He wore goggles, his foot tapping with all the energy I could feel radiating off of him.
He looked my way and waved in hello before returning to conversation with a two tailed fox. It shouldn't have hurt more than this but knowing is different from feeling it. He didn't remember me, and I wasn't going to push it. IF he hadn't, he just didn't. I just wished he did.
Sally looked over to me and called my name over the crowd of voices. I walked over to her, towel still around my neck. Several people stared at me as I did so. Did they not see someone come in from working out before?
"Good, you're here. Now we can get started." She squeezed my hands something shining in her.
"Get started on what?" She grinned sheepishly in reply before starting up the tech, a map appearing on one wall. It had darkened out patches of land with a large blob in the center of it. That's the land where Eggman had taken over, and it was huge.
Everyone seemed to go quiet then, the weight of the fact that Eggman had so much land running though everyone. "By Orchid's curse" I mumbled that curse under my breath, invoking the name of the goddess of death. There was so much that it seemed to be draining the life from the land around it. It was partly terrifying.
Shadow looked at me, seemingly hearing me say one of the names of the goddesses. He nodded once, agreeing with the weight of this fact. Eggman was growing more powerful, and the resistance was one of the last lines of defense.
Something pulled at my soul, and I looked around. There were many fighters but as I looked through my mind, they seemed to dull in color. This was one of the things that I seemed to only do myself, no one else ever saw what I did, and I was ok with that. The more who know about themselves, the more danger that one person could be in.
I saw sparks, souls of the ones in the room, there were a total of six that I can see so far but there was a pull almost, telling me there was a lot more. There was a blue one, black, purplish red, pink, a cream, and purple.
These were souls of what some would call 'blessed'. The belief of these beings were thought to be myths but they weren't, I've seen the gods and them with my own eyes; things were different than they were rumored to be.
There were so many grouped together that I almost threw up. So much power and I'm surprised nothing had came after them. Unless you count Shadow.
I blinked and looked around, no one seemed to care or even glance my way even though I'm fairly sure that I made a gagging noise. One set of eyes were on me, and I had the nagging feeling to leave just then. I didn't want to be around them, more than I half to. I took a breath, looking towards Shadow, their eyes lowering as they met mine. I rolled my eye before seeing them to motion me outside.
I shook my head, scoffing and turning back to the back, the feeling returning. If Eggman was growing in power, this was danger to everything alive. A chill ran up my back and I quickly turned around to see Shadow had moved to just behind me. "I'm not going with you, Devil" I make sure my voice is low to make sure no one heard me say their code name. Shadow winced slightly hearing it, but they simply shook their head before grabbing my arm.
"I need to talk to you, Calloway"
I try to dig my heels into the floor, but they still pull me along, their strength impossible. The moment we are out, I punched them straight in the jaw, causing them to stumble back at my punch. "Don't touch me, you can and will never touch me again"
"Look, I just wanted to talk, you feel the powers of them, don't you?"
I flinched, so someone did see and bad news, it was Shadow who saw me enter into the trance. "What are you talking about?" A snarl left my lips as I backed up more, my hand to my knife.
"You don't hide it, your eyes turned pure blue when it happened, no one saw since the lights turned off" His words seemed deadpanned but almost on cue, electricity sparked from their hands. I backed up even more, gasping at the sparks coming off of their fur.
"You're..." I stopped myself from continuing. IF they found out what level of power that they held, that would speed up the process of corrupted land owned by Eggman.
They looked at me before nodding, seemingly understanding what I was meaning. "I'm an artificial child of a god."
"If Eggman is able to-"
"I was purely accidental, he had no idea how he did it the first time" I look into their eyes, finding truth in them. If it was accidental, that way that Shadow was made is hopefully lost, and I hope to Liligate, the goddess of fortunes and beauty, that she stays on our side, even if she's fallen.
"Let's hope so then, Shadow. This is like my fifth chance, and I don't think I can manage another place that I've lost." They winced, knowing exactly what I was saying; after all, they did help cause two of those places lost since......
"He won't know that you're here, I won't tell him." I raise my eyebrows at that. They were still working with Eggman even after saying they didn't follow him?
"You think I'll believe you after you helped that man take my eye?!" I was ready to punch them, but they caught my hand with ease, sighing.
"I suppose not, my words won't help you, but I will prove it, Sage" I yanked my hand away, scowling. Should I trust them though? If Eggman never finds out that I'm here, that would help with my...... situation. I looked back up at them, rubbing my wrist.
"Just stay away from me, keep your mouth shut and I'll keep mine." With that, I turned away and ran off, my breaths filled with fear. I had surprised myself with staying that calm in front of him, but it still didn't stop the fear. My vision flashed again, and I saw the purplish-red soul near me. I blinked, looking down the hall.
It was a purple cat, fire blazing in her hands with gems attached to her cloak. She seemed like the embodiment of a demi-god with her beauty and fiery power. She looked up, quickly dismissing the flames like she wasn't supposed to be seen using those powers and I stared at her for a few more seconds before walking away. There were so many here that it fueled me with some type of power; it was terrifying to be here with so many of my kind, perhaps this will help in the coming war with Eggman......
