Eggman took everything from me. All I could do was run from him since I was a kid. Now, however, I don't want anyone else to suffer the same fate I did. Though some things that happened, I didn't really blame on anyone else but Eggman. Things like the black devil.
It had caused me to develop PTSD, but I didn't blame the one behind the mask. That was because the identity of the black devil was revealed to me. The sadness behind their eyes, the pain. Shadow wasn't in control of their own body; Eggman controlled it all. Though it did cause me to avoid Shadow like I have been doing.
It wasn't Shadow's fault, yet I blamed them mostly for it since even if they were awake, they never fought back.
I stared up at the ceiling of my room, just listening to the clock tick softly. Several people had knocked on my door. I didn't know who knocked, but I didn't move to answer. I didn't speak since I didn't trust myself to really do so.
I didn't want to burden anyone with what happened to me, the horrors that are burned into my memories. That was mainly because I saw the way Sonic looked at Shadow, and the same the opposite way. Something was special about those two, that they've been through a lot to grow close together.
That made me kind of jealous since I missed so much of Sonic's life, so much stuff that I don't even want to look into. I don't understand anything he refers to, and he has so many friends it just made me feel... alone. Yes, I said that I was aromantic but... I think I just don't like the idea of sex.
My tail curled around me, with my ears going down. I wish I knew what it was like to love.
My ears then perked up again and I sat up.
It was the sound of yelling. I looked towards my door before hearing a faint blast, and that got me to my feet, grabbing my knife before running out. I felt faster than I normally did while running, and I heard another explosion come from the front.
There were sounds of yelling. Sonic was running... no, he was fighting. Robot parts were scattered around the place in ruin, and I saw the large hole in the front of the place. Shit.
A robot came near and I stabbed my knife into its skull, causing it to break. It fell to my feet and I tossed my knife to my right hand, ready for the next one.
I tightened my grip on the knife, feeling the weight of it in my hand. The sound of metal clashing and explosions echoed through the halls. I moved swiftly, my senses heightened, every muscle in my body ready for action.
As I rounded the corner, three more robots came into view. Their red eyes glowed menacingly as they advanced. I didn't hesitate. With a burst of speed, I lunged at the first one, slashing my knife across its chest. Sparks flew as the metal gave way, and the robot staggered back, malfunctioning.
The second robot swung its arm at me, but I ducked just in time, feeling the rush of air as it missed. I rolled to the side and came up behind it, driving my knife into its back. The robot convulsed and collapsed, its circuits fried.
The third robot was faster, more agile. It leaped at me, its claws extended. I barely managed to block its attack with my knife, the force of the blow sending me skidding back. I gritted my teeth and pushed back, using all my strength to keep the robot at bay. With a quick twist, I dislodged its claw and kicked it away.
I didn't give it a chance to recover. I charged forward, slashing and stabbing with precision. The robot tried to counter, but I was faster. I ducked under its arm and drove my knife into its neck, severing vital connections. It fell to the ground, lifeless.
Breathing heavily, I looked around. The hallway was littered with broken robot parts, but I knew there would be more. I couldn't stop now. I had to keep fighting, keep pushing forward. For Sonic, for Shadow, and for everyone who had suffered because of Eggman.
Suddenly, a blue blur zoomed into the hallway. Sonic skidded to a stop beside me, his eyes wide with concern. "You, okay? Need any help?" he asked, glancing around at the wreckage.
I can't believe he thinks I can't handle this. My ear flicked and I didn't answer immediately. Instead, I sensed another robot approaching from behind. Without turning, I threw my knife over my shoulder. The blade embedded itself in the robot's head, and it collapsed in a shower of sparks.
I turned back to Sonic after grabbing my knife. "I've got this," I said firmly.
Sonic's eyes widened in surprise, then he grinned. "Alright, just checking. Let's show these tin cans what we're made of!" he said, his confidence renewed. I couldn't help but smile at his words, now this is what we're made of.
Sonic's POV:
I watched her take down the robot with a single, precise throw. She was incredible, moving with a grace and ferocity that left me in awe. But there was no time to admire her skills. More robots were pouring in through the breach, and we had to stop them.
I dashed forward, my legs a blur as I spun into a ball and smashed through a line of robots. Metal shards flew everywhere as I tore through their ranks. I could hear her fighting behind me, the sound of her knife slicing through metal a constant reminder that I wasn't alone in this battle, despite me running even faster than her.
"Keep it up!" I shouted over my shoulder, not slowing down. I leaped into the air, landing on top of a particularly large robot. It tried to shake me off, but I held on, delivering a spin dash to its head, causing it to crumple beneath me.
I landed lightly on my feet, just in time to see her take down another robot with a swift, deadly strike. She was a whirlwind of motion, her knife flashing in the dim light. I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride on how badass my cousin was. We were an awesome team.
"More coming from the left!" I called out, spotting another wave of robots heading our way. I charged at them, ready to take them down. We had to keep fighting, had to keep pushing forward. She passed me first and took them out before I could even land a hit, and I busted out laughing. "I thought I was the fast one!"
She shot me a grin, her fangs showing. She seemed to be having the time of her life killing the robots. It was almost childish, but I made me grin to. Tails was handling the robots with his machines pretty well; Amy didn't need any help. As well as Whisper and Tangle, bad timing for them to finish the mission of all days, didn't need help. Everyone was handling this surprise attack nicely.
That was until I saw something in the corner of my eye, Cream was running from robots. Sage moved before me, grabbing Cream and kicked the robot's head off of its neck with her foot. I cried out and destroyed the other one so that Sage could focus on Cream. The emerald was glowing in Sage's tail, but I didn't have time to think that through as I smashed another robot.
I was running pretty well since I wasn't fueled by the chaos emerald though, why was Sage holding on to it. I kept my eye on them as I continued fighting. Sage was giving Cream the emerald, the little bunny holding onto my cousin's back before Sage ran further into the fight. I yelled for her to stop but she was like a warrior, unstoppable.
She didn't even seem to feel Cream hanging on to her, like she was moving like liquid. Just like before, surprising me once more. Cream's eyes were large again, but they were filled with determination. She helped keep the robots off of Sage's back by letting her know and I broke free of my shock as a robot managed to land a hit on me while I was distracted.
Now there was no way I was going to myself get bested by some lumps of metal! I zipped forward, crashing into it and it bent under my attack, causing it to spark. I looked up and there was Shadow, just standing there. I stood up, wiping sweat from my face. Shadow wasn't moving, they weren't fighting. I looked around quickly before going over to make sure they were alright.
This was different, like Shadow would normally be in the middle of the fight but now, they stayed out of it. They were looking down; they didn't even look at me when I came over. I shook Shadow's shoulders before yelling straight at them. "Come on, Shads! We're going to need all the help...."
Shadow opened their eyes, their form towering over me and I was met by a black abyss of darkness in Shadow's eyes, their actions caused me to trail of and something like fear ran through me, causing my quills to stand up.
