*Kats's POV*
Kat groaned as she threw the bag of trash into the dumpster, the trash falling with a loud clang as it hit the bottom. She shut the lid, careful not to get her fingers caught in between, and trudged back inside. Drumming over the years had helped her become stronger, especially in the arms, explaining why she had more upper body strength than most girls, so taking the trash out was an easy job. It was just the fact that today felt like an eternity, Kat just wanted to lay down and go to sleep. But unfortunately she had two teenage boys in her room. This thought made Kat hurry up the stairs just a little bit faster.
She quickly stepped inside the room, closing the door and looking at what the two boys were doing. In Calum's lap was a book, a smile plastered on Luke's face as he read through it. Anxiety bubbled up in Kat's chest, along with some anger.
"What are you doing?" The boys' heads shot up. They were surprised at first at her sudden appearance, but then smirked at each other. "Give me my book back! That isn't yours to look at." Kat demanded, stepping forward to take the book.
Calum stood up suddenly, waving the book above his head. "You got to get it then!" Kat groaned and jumped up to get it, her fingertips barely grazing it, but Calum moved it out of the way. "Here Luke! You're taller."
Calum tossed the book to Luke, who caught it in one hand. All he had to do was hold it up above his head, and Kat knew she wouldn't be able to reach it. But she had to try, didn't she? She ran forward and jumped up, her hands snatching at empty air.
"Luke!" Kat whined, jumping up ecstatically.
"Kat!" Luke mocked.
Kat pouted, continuing to jump up. "Give it back! Come on!"
"Only if you give me a kiss." Luke smirked, puckering his lips in a childish manner and leaning forward. Kat's cheeks turned bright red. She recoiled just a bit as Luke got especially close to her.
"Come on Hemmings, give it back." Kat continued.
"Oh we're using last names now, Nightingale?"
"Oh, get a room you two!" Calum chuckled, holding a video camera. Kat stopped momentarily, staring at the camera.
"Where'd you get that?"
"It was on your desk. We decided to start recording when you left to do your chores. Remember about the behind the scenes shit we've got to do?" Calum said, shutting the video camera closed and smirking at the girl.
Kat blinked a couple times before answering. "Oh yeah."
"Here Nightingale." Luke tossed the book at Kat, the girl fumbling with it before clutching it tightly to her chest.
"I'm not sure about you, but I think we're going to use one of your songs. They're pretty good." Calum said, earning surprised looks from both Kat and Luke. "I mean, some of them are way too girly, like that Teenage Queen one?" Calu shuddered at the thought of it. "But some of them are pretty cool, like the Social Casualty song. But don't get an over inflated ego because I said I liked your lyrics, or else I'll punch you into next week."
Kat put her hands up defensively, sitting down in her desk chair. "So um.... Luke what do you think?" The boy stared at her with those bright, beautiful blue eyes. Her heart rate speed up just a bit, making her clutch the book tighter to her chest.
"You're talented. Definitely. I agree with Calum, we should use one of your songs." Kat nodded shakily, realizing that she kinda had no choice, but to agree with them or else they'd here all day. And they needed all the time they could get. "Are any of them completed? That would make our jobs easier."
