*Kat's POV*------Halloween night------
"You're going with Luke, right?" Chrissy asked, sitting on her desk.
"Yeah." Kat answered, her cheeks turning red. She looked down in her lap, her stomach turning to butterflies. She had begun feeling odd emotions whenever she hung out with Luke. It kind of scared her. She wasn't supposed to be with people like him. But she liked the way he laughed, the way his hair was always matted down in the morning or after a nap, or the way his eyes always brightened whenever he saw her.
"Are you guys going as a couple?" Kat was brought out of her day dream.
"What? No! Just-just friends." She stammered out.
Chrissy raised her eyebrow towards her friend. The smirk on her face told Kat that she knew Kat wanted to be more than friends. But she dropped it, starting another conversation. "So where's the dress that you bought?" Chrissy asked, applying some purple eyeshadow. It was an hour before the boys were meant to pick them up, so they had all the time to get ready. You know, put make-up on, get dressed, talk about boys. If that's what you did before parties. Kat had no idea how to do this. Yes, she had gone to parties, but she'd never really dressed up for one like this.
Kat sat on Chrissy's bed. "It's right here." She said, pulling the sleek fabric out. Chrissy turned around from the mirror on her vanity. Her eyes widened, her mouth falling into a wide "O".
"You? Buy something like that?" Chrissy exclaimed, putting her eyeshadow palette down. Only her left eye had been done, leaving her right eye bare. It looked almost comical. She took the dress in her hands. "See! I told you I would get you out of your shell!" Kat smiled, remembering her first day of school. Kat shrugged with a small smirk on her face. "Okay, well start getting your make-up on! You can use mine." She turned back to her vanity, finishing her half done eyeshadow.
Kat sat still on her bed. She didn't know how to do all of that. She only wore eyeliner, maybe a bit of lip stick once in a while. She never felt the need for that kind of stuff before.
After a minute of Kat not moving, Chrissy turned around, finished with whatever she was doing. The smokey eye she was making, now done and beautiful. She wore dark red lipstick, matching her red dress that now hung up in her closet. "What are you waiting for?"
"I don't know how to put make-up on." Kat mumbled quietly. Chrissy chuckled, stepping forward and taking Kat's hand. She sat her down in a chair.
"Sit still and I'll do it." Chrissy explained, picking up a brush and starting to swipe it across Kat's face. Kat was grateful. She had never had a girl friend like Chrissy since elementary school, since she always hung out with boys in middle and high school.
After a good 20 minutes, Chrissy pulled back with a, "Done!" She spun the chair towards the mirror, keeping one hand over Kat's eyes. She yanked her hand back. "Ta da!"
Kat gasped. God it felt like she was in a chick flick. But she couldn't help it. She looked so different. Her skin seemed to glow. Her lips were tainted with a dark red color, similar to Chrissy's. But instead of a smokey eye, Kat had blue eyeshadow with winged eyeliner. "Holy shit Chrissy, what did you do to my face?"
Chrissy laughed, taking Kat's hand. "Now for the nail polish." She said, with a wicked smile. It took 2 minutes to put the nail polish on, and an eternity for it to dry. At least that's how it felt for Kat. She was always an impatient person when she was nervous. And she had a lot of nerves right now.
