Chapter 24

* Vape warning

" Looks like we got an under the influence ."

I snap out of my trance of staring at the dead man on the floor when Hank comments on him .

" That's our guess , Hell if we know where that green crap came from , but at least we know what killed him ." One of the officers said.

" Let's just get his prints and figure out who we're dealing with ." Nick says shaking his head . While we walk away ( Hank walking on his crutches) Nick stands next to me .

" Hey , you alright ?"

" Yea , I am ." Fiddling with my jacket .

" Y/n , you can't be working if you're getting jumpy ."

" Im not jumpy , just trying to process everything ."

" You mean with the case ?"

" No , With Sean . Nick this key business seems bigger than we think it is . I feel like somethings bad is going to happen ."

We climb into the car and I see Nick pausing . I was going to question why he was taking so long to get in the car but I shook it off and put my seatbelt on .

* AT THE PRECINCT*
The stress was getting to me . Everything was confusing me . Works getting harder , and there potentially being a darker side to my boyfriend .

" Y/n." Hank said and I snapped out of my trance . I let go of the piece of paper that I was crumpling in my hand mid trance .

" See ? You keep doing this . If you're not well I'm gonna make you stay home ." Nick says leaning back from his computer .

" I'm fine . Stop worrying about me ."

" I'm not the only one , the captain is too."

I look at Nick then at Sean's office . He was already looking at me , with a kind of soft look .

" I'm going to the bathroom ."

I walk swiftly to the ladies bathroom and sit up on the sink and pull out my vape from my pocket and inspected it .

I took a hit of it and exhaled , feeling slightly better after giving into an unhealthy habit.

This was the perfect place for a smoke break because the only other ladies in this precinct was the police officers that were barely here .

I was the only girl detective there so it was nice i had some privacy .

I was having another puff when the door swung open and I flinched . It was Sean . He was standing there looking at me with one of his hands in his pockets .

" Sean , what the fuck ?" I say while shoving my vape back into my Jean pocket .

" There is no other female detectives in this precinct , y/n. " He says while walking up to me and standing in between my legs.

He reaches into my pocket while holding his face close to mine and pulling the vape out .

" I didn't know you vaped. I think I may have found the one thing and only thing I don't like about you ." He was displaying a seductive smile while I showed no emotion .

His face dropped when he realised .

" Oh y/n , I didn't mean-"

" It's fine , I'm fine . I don't like it either . It's just a bad habit I picked up . I'm really trying to quit but it's just too-" Sean hushes me by giving me a mild kiss .

I hear him drop the vape and grab onto my hips without breaking contact . My hands were leading up to his neck until he grabbed them and put them behind me , pinning down both my hands .

He then moved to my neck and I felt him groaning every time I said his name . Except I wasn't moaning it , I wanted him to stop . My hands left his grip and I held him back .

He looks at me confused .

" What's wrong ? " He was scanning my face for an answer and wiped his mouth.

" Sean I-" He then backs up , lifts up his tie and sits next to me on the bench , wrapping his large arms around me .

" Don't say anything , I know you've been stressed lately and I thought that this is what you wanted . Sorry for misreading the situation y/n but talk to me . What's on your mind ." He says and I still stay stiff in his embrace . I let out a sigh before I start talking .

" Sean , I've just been feeling like , I don't know you lately . You have a brother ? The keys ? It's all confusing . And I'm not expecting you to tell me every detail in your life I just want to know if you have a darker side to you ." I say it all out loud and he sits there quiet .

" Y/n , there is a lot of stuff in my life that , isn't the brightest . I've done a lot of bad things and I have made the mistake of letting that make me who I am . I'm done chasing the keys and I'm don't letting my family try and ruin me . I want a new life , one where I'm not the bad guy trying to find the keys , one where I'm not involved with bad people who have a lot of people , A life with you y/n . You make me feel so young . You are the best thing that happened to me and you make me wanna change . I've never told anyone this because I'm suppose to be everyone's captain. But you y/n , id tell you anything , never for one second think that I won't choose you over some lousy dark life ."

By the time he said his last sentence I was already hugging his waist . His heart was pounding into my ear and I just wanted to embrace him for the rest of the day.

" I love you Sean ,and i want you to be open with me about all this , whether it hurts me or not ."

He was now fully wrapped around me and i felt like I could fall asleep right then and there .

" Y/n?" He hums .

" Yes ?"

" Maybe we should get out of the female bathrooms now ."

" Probably."
