Cassie barely registered it as Rick pulled her up off the asphalt, holding her close to him as he led her over to the car. She had stopped making sound as she cried ,by the time he got her in the back seat, simply letting the tears fall freely down her face.
Maggie sat in the middle seat beside her taking her hand in her own hoping to offer Cassie some sort of comfort. She didn't know if it worked though as Cassie stared impassively out the car window not moving.
At one point the car stopped so Rick told her to stay with Michonne as him,Glenn and Maggie went out to deal with whatever the problem was. Cassie gave a weak nod to her brother before she went back to her position of staring out the window her head leaned against.
"Jackass rednecks" was all Michonne muttered under her breath but it was enough to get a small laugh out of Cassie. She sniffled slightly as she continued to laugh with Michonne who had now joined in.
She looked at Michonne who's eyes softened slightly at the blondes red eyes trying to show she felt bad for the woman. Soon enough Michonne was shuffling across to sit where Maggie was before.
Even though Cassie barely knew Michonne she felt she could trust her as she chose to move her head to lay on Michonnes shoulder. It was much more comfortable then the glass she was against before and Cassie felt so exhausted she might have just fallen asleep.
Cassie didn't know went down on the road outside the car or if it was because of Woodbury but none of the others spoke for the whole car ride back to the prison. The only indication of their arrival was the sound of the metal gates being opened and closed.
Cassie felt a hand on the window beside her as Rick got out to talk to his son. It was Carol who peered inside giving Cassie a smile that faded as she noticed the absence of a certain redneck in the car with them.
Cassie felt like maybe Martinez had hit her head too hard because when she left Carol had been dead. But now Cassie was seeing her which made her bury her head in her hands.
When they parked the car in the prison courtyard the rest of the group was waiting to see them. Maggie was the first out rushing over to her father and sister who stood nearby together followed closely by Glenn.
Cassie took a deep breath in slightly unsure on wether she was able to get out the car and face everyone. She heard their voices slightly muffled through the car window and took a deep inhale before opening the door.
As she got out she heard her name being called and turned to see Carl running towards her. He had seen his aunt exit the car along with the mark on her face showing what she'd been through. He wrapped his arms around Cassie's waist holding her so close she nearly fell over due to her weakened state.
"You were gone longer then you said you'd be I was worried" he mumbled against her shirt until he stepped back to look at his aunt "Then Michonne arrived and said you guys got taken"
"Yeah that's true but I'm here now" Cassie attempted to reassure her nephew so they wouldn't need to talk about it anymore.
Carl nodded at his aunt then moved to his dad's side and Carol took his place beside the blonde and rubbed her arm to give her some type of comfort. When Cassie turned and saw who it was her mouth opened suddenly feeling she lost her ability to to breathe.
"I-I thought you-" Cassie stuttered finally coming to grips that Carol was really there beside her and was alive.
"I passed out in the tunnels during the walker attack. T-dog saved me and then before he left Daryl found me" Carol told her explaining how Cassie might have believed she was dead.
"He left" was all Cassie got out before Carol walked over and gave Cassie a short hug "I'm glad your back though" she whispered making Carol laugh softly.
