Anakin Skywalker arrived at the Naboo Embassy, his pace quick but measured. His heart raced with anticipation as he navigated through the opulent halls of the building, his mind solely focused on reaching the penthouse where Daenerys resided. Stepping into the elevator, he punched the button for the top floor and watched the numbers ascend, each one bringing him closer to her.

When the elevator doors slid open, Anakin practically sprinted down the corridor, stopping only when he reached the door to her suite. He paused for a moment, breathing heavily, trying to steady his nerves and calm his racing heart. With a deep breath, he opened the door and stepped into her living quarters, his eyes darting around the room as he called out, "Dany?"

The living room was elegantly furnished with plush couches and armchairs, and the balcony doors were slightly ajar, letting in a gentle breeze that rustled the curtains. Anakin's eyes swept over the space, taking in every detail and every potential sign of her presence. For a moment, he feared she might not be here—perhaps she had returned to Naboo or was caught up in a meeting. Just as he was about to leave, faint footsteps echoed from the hallway leading to the bedroom.

"Who is out here?" Daenerys's voice called out softly, her tone curious and cautious. She stepped into the living room, her eyes widening in shock as she saw Anakin standing across the room.

The two stared at each other in stunned silence, the air thick with unspoken emotions. Anakin's serious, out-of-breath expression gradually transformed into a joyful smile as he took in the sight of her. Daenerys's initial confusion melted into a look of sincere happiness, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. She raised a hand to her mouth as if to stifle a gasp of disbelief.

Anakin made the first move, crossing the room with purposeful strides, his smile growing wider with each step. He stopped just inches from her, his hand reaching up to caress her face with the back of his knuckles. "Dany..." he whispered, his voice a low, reverent hum.

Daenerys practically fell into his arms, her embrace fierce and desperate. "Ani, you're here," she murmured into his chest, her voice thick with emotion.

"Yes, I'm here," Anakin replied, his arms wrapping around her tightly as if he never wanted to let go. He felt her trembling against him, her tears dampening his tunic. They stood there, holding each other in the stillness of the room, both relishing the feeling of being reunited after so many months apart.

After what felt like an eternity, Daenerys pulled away just enough to look up at him. Anakin gazed down at her, his eyes filled with love and relief. Their faces inched closer, and then they kissed. The kiss was sweet and lingering, a tender expression of the longing and love they had both felt during their time apart. Anakin's hand moved to cradle the back of her head, while Daenerys's arms tightened around his neck, pulling him closer still.

When they finally broke apart, they remained close, their foreheads resting against each other. "I missed you so much, Ani," Daenerys whispered, her voice barely more than a breath.

"I missed you too, Dany. Every day," Anakin replied, his voice full of sincerity.

Daenerys led him to the couch, and they sat down, still holding hands, their fingers intertwined. "Tell me everything," she said, her eyes never leaving his.

Anakin began to recount the events of the Outer Rim Sieges, the battles he had fought, and the losses they had endured. As he spoke, Daenerys listened intently, her hand never leaving his. She could see the weariness in his eyes and the toll the war had taken on him, and she felt a pang of guilt for not being there with him.

"But enough about the war," Anakin said, his tone lightening as he looked at her. "Tell me about your time here. How have you been? How is the Senate treating you?"

Daenerys sighed, leaning back against the cushions. "It's been challenging. The Senate is demanding. But I'm doing my best to navigate the politics of it all and make a difference. We've been working on sanctions for the war, trying to bring it to an end."

Anakin nodded, his expression one of pride. "You're doing incredible work, Dany. I always knew you would."

She smiled, her cheeks flushing slightly at his praise. "It's not easy, but I have to believe that what we're doing will make a difference."

They talked for hours, sharing stories and catching up on everything they had missed in each other's lives. The sun began to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the cityscape outside the balcony. Anakin pulled Daenerys close, and they sat together, watching the city lights come alive as night fell.

Finally, Anakin turned to her, his eyes serious. "I don't know how long I have before the Council calls on me again to return to the outer rim, but I want to make the most of every moment we have together."

Daenerys nodded, her heart aching at the thought of him leaving again. "Then let's not waste a single second," she said, leaning in to kiss him once more.

As they held each other close, the outside world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in their little bubble of love and warmth. For now, they were together, and that was all that mattered.

AUTHORS NOTE!

Even though it may not seem like it, our characters have reunited at last since chapter 20. In case this wasn't clear in Chapter 21, there is a 6-month time jump between Chapters 20 & 21. The last time Anakin and Daenerys were physically together was when they confessed their love at the end of chapter 20. I just wanted to make sure that everyone understood that. In other words, what did we think of this chapter? I wanted it to be bittersweet, kind of like an army veteran returning home in a sense. I was giggling and kicking my feet when I wrote this chapter.
