chapter two

Alpha leader of the hunters and second to zion approached the sarlacc pit that had devoured his master he gripped his baskar spear and glared down at the beast. He was going to jump into the beast and retrieve zions body when the beast suddenly let out a loud roar before unleashing a massive geyser of green fluid mixed with bodies and other matter which rained down on the dune sea among the debris was zion who crawled out of the of muck coughing his body steaming from the stomach acid beta and gamma hosed him down with a nuetralizing agent to prevent further damage from the acid. "Bring the shuttle we need to get him into a bacta tank immediately!" Alpha ordered. Two purge troopers carried zion to the landing shuttle which took him back to the light transport where he was stripped and washed thoroughly alpha watched as the cleaning removed skin from zions body the medics put a breathing tube down his throat to assist his breathing. "Its amazing he is still alive the poisons and toxins did severe damage to his lungs and organs the acids have done severe damage to his skin and some muscle the neutralizing agent you administered on the ground probably saved him from losing any limbs." The doctor said. "He wasnt in that thing for long a hour maybe a little longer?" Alpha said. "Humans are very sensitive his cloak provided a measure of protection but there was no way he could have prevented from breathing in the toxins." The doctor said. "I need to report to lord sidious ensure he survives doctor if he doesn't you dont." Alpha said turning and leaving the medical chamber he went to the holoprojector and knelt as a black cloaked form of darth sidious appeared. "I was expecting zion to contact me himself if its you i can only assume he was destroyed?" Sidious asked. "No my lord injured but alive he is recovering in a bacta tank he was knocked into a sarlacc pit." Alpha started. "I care not for his excuses. The fact the jedi are still alive is troubling and could endanger the stability of the new order." Sidious said before going silent pondering something in his head. "I may still have use of him track down these wayward jedi kill the strongest of them capture the weaker ones and bring them to the planet nur there they will be the start of something new i shall turn them into weapons that will seek out the jedi and eliminate them." Sidious stated. "It will be done my lord." Alpha said. "I have already been failed twice once by lord vader who was defeated and mutilated on mustafar and by your master on tatooine do not let there be a third." Sidious stated cutting the transmission.
Sidious turned away from the holoprojector and saw the machines donning vaders new mask and helmet sidious approached like the caring friend vader had always seen him as. "Lord vader can you hear me?" Sidious asked. Deep rhythmic breathing came from the mask as vader breathed with the help of the suits respirator. "Yes my master... Where is padme is she safe is she alright?" Vader asked in a deeper tone voice from the masked speakers but sidious felt the desperation in his apprentice. "It seems in your anger you killed her." Sidious said sadly. "No.... She was alive i felt it!" Vader said growing enraged with guilt the room began to shake as the machines around them were crushed with the power of the force unleashed by vader who broke free of his restraints taking two steps forward for the first time on his new legs feeling the clunkiness of his metal legs the stiffness of his suit and the pain of losing the love of his life the only person that meant anything to him. "Noooooo!" Vader cried out before in rage he reached out with the force grabbing sidious by the throat lifting the sith lord into the air strangling him only for sidious to unleash a blast of force lightening into his apprentice which shorted out his life support system forcing vader to let release him sidious landed on his feet rubbing his throat. "I understand this is hard for you my friend but if you ever raise a hand against me again i shall destroy you." Sidious said leaving vader in a heap on the floor as his suits systems recalibrated allowing him to recover from the blast.
Kalan rested in the cabin exhausted from his duel with the dark sider zion who he knew had survived the sarlacc and doubted they had seen the last of.
Mira had been put in the bacta tank to recover from her time in the fighting pit kalan looked at his hand which fired bolts of lightning leaving small burns on his fingers he had both hands wrapped in bandages he looked at the red bladed lightsaber he had taken from Zion during their fight he should have felt disgusted using such a weapon but he felt nothing the weapon was made of strong metals it was firm and heavier than his sisters lightsaber which was made of lighter materials and was made of a smooth shell and had a padded grip it was lighter than his old lightsaber both weapons felt alien in his hand as if the weapons knew he wasnt the proper owner of the weapons eventually he would need to make himself a new lightsaber but now wasnt the time to do so not with the empire actively hunting them. 
Dez entered the room standing in the door way. "Where do you want to go?" She asked. "We need to find other jedi." Kalan said. "Where do we find them?" Dez asked. "Jedi enclaves safe houses i can make a list of places." Kalan said. "The empire took the temple their records will have all that information if there are any left they wouldnt go to those places." Dez countered. Kalan stood up from his bed. "We have to do something!" Kalan yelled. "I know!" Dez snapped back. "But we need to do it smart we need to think of those on this ship first where can we go?" Dez said softer. "I dont know the clone wars as pretty much put every planet under the empires control." Kalan stated. "We could find a uninhabited world to hide on." Dez offered. "Dez drop us off on a random world clear the starcharts of this ship ditch the ship you dont need to keep risking your freedom for the jedi." Kalan said. Dez looked at him like he was stupid before she grabbed him by the front of his tunic and pulled him into a kiss which caught him completely by surprise he wrapped his arms around her as she wrapped her arms around his neck as he returned the kiss deepening it. "Statement: master that is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary." Hk said from the closet. Kalan and dez split apart dez wiped her mouth with her hand. "H what are you doing?" Kalan demanded. "Statement: master its not my fault the old meat bag put the charging station in your cabins closet." Hk said.
Kalan used the force to shut the closet door. "Statement: very mature master very mature." Hks muffled voice came through the door.
Kalan kissed dez again and a idea occurred to him. "Ruusan." Kalan said. "What about it?" She asked. "Thats where we can go ruusan its force nexus is powerful enough the sith wont sense us there and we can hide out as regular farmers." Kalan said. "What about the ship the sith know about it?" Dez asked. "We sell it or scrap it worst case we find a cave and hide it." Kalan said. Dez nodded and looked at the closet and then back to kalan with a sly smile. "I will set a course for ruusan we can find a place to hide the ship." Dez said. She started to walk out of the room but stopped. "Move your things to my cabin." She said smiling he nodded. "Statement: all meatbags are disgusting." Hk said.

The child tackled the monkey lizard snapping its neck he looked out of the alley seeing a hooded figure standing in the entrance of the alleyway. "Impressive young one." The hooded man stated. The boy grabbed the monkey lizard and pulled behind him. "The force is strong in you.... Such a existence as this.... Is a waste for you." The man stated the monkey lizard corpse was suddenly yanked from the boys hand the boy reached out with his hand stopping the creatures corpse in midair the hooded man smirked. "Very impressive young one you possess a power greater than a ordinary person far greater than a gutter rat. Come with me and i can help you achieve your destiny." The man said releasing his invisible grasp the boy let the monkey lizard corpse to drop to the ground.
The man turned to walk away the boy ran after him and the man looked down at him. "What is your name boy?" The man asked. The boy just shook his head and the man nodded putting a hand on his head. "Hence forth you shall be known as zion the wrath of the sith." The man said smiling.
Ziost dark spire present
Zions eyes burst open inside the bacta tank he pressed the manual release draining the pod of the fluid once it was drained he removed his breath mask and opened the tank he climbed out putting his bare feet on the black marble floor dripping liquid on the floor a black protocol droid brought him a black robe he took it and pulled it on as alpha entered the room still wearing his black armor and helmet. "Your nearly fully healed from the sarlacc you should continue to heal." Alpha said. "Where is the jedi?" Zion asked as he poured himself a drink at his chambers private bar. "We havent found the jedi yet but we are searching." Alpha said. "Then why are you here?" Zion asked his voice having a edge to it. "I came to tell you that lord sidious sent you a gift." Alpha said gesturing to the table. Zion looked at the table seeing a object wrapped in a red cloth he undid the cloth seeing the lightsaber of count dooku. "You lost one of your lightsabers in your battle against the jedi." Alpha said.
Zion used the force to disassemble the weapon. "The former sith lord darth maul escaped capture from mandalore sidious wants you to find and kill maul." Alpha said. "It will be done." Zion stated.
He used the force to bring over other components and assemble a new lightsaber using dookus crystal it floated over to his belt clipping to it. "Do you want me to ready the hunters?" Alpha asked. "No i will handle maul alone there are other targets find them and do what you do." Zion said as his black shirt and combat pants he stepped into the pants and pulled on the shirt discarding the robe his gloves floated on to his hands as a black combat vest attached itself to him his belt wrapped around his waist clicking on place his black mask floated over to him he caught it and placed it on over the lower half of his face.
He went to his sith inflitrator walking onto his ship starting its engines lifting off and set off into space.
He sat in a the pilot seat and reached into the force closing his eyes letting the forces current like a raging river carry his mind guiding his hands to the navigation control focusing on mauls memory of how the two of them were raised in secret how maul was chosen over him to be darth sidious's first apprentice. He opened his eyes seeing the course for moraband the home world of the sith a fitting place to bury a failed sith.
Zion entered the coordinates to the planet into the hyperdrive and sat back to relax for the journey.
Jedi knight zelan korr ran through the forest of kashyyyk as blaster fire followed him he ignited his yellow lightsaber deflecting several bolts back into the clones that fired at him he saw four fall he came around the corner to come face to face with a clone trooper zelan slashed at the clone cleaving the clones blaster in half before taking the clones head off he then used the force to throw four more clones backward into trees he then fell into a under ground tunnel that he slid through emerging into a clearing on the beach he got to his feet blade at the ready only for a orange lightsaber to block his and he saw a man a few years younger than him. "My name is ty come on i am getting you out of here." Ty stated. Zelan nodded they extinguished their lightsabers ty used the force to collapse the tunnel he pulled a tarp off a from a arc170 starfighter ty went to climb in he was suddenly yanked off the fighter and to the beach he looked seeing three black garbed warriors. "Hello jedi." The leader of the trio a male pau'an said as he grabbed a lightsaber from his back with a circular guard igniting a crimson blade.
"Hunters." Ty grumbled remembering the dark siders from tatooine. "Oh we aren't hunters we are inquisitors we dont hunt jedi we capture or eliminate them." The inquisitor stated ty ignited his lightsaber zelan did the same the other two inquisitors ignited their red lightsabers charging at them ty jumped over the first of the trio a white skinned twe'lek who spun around to attack him as he landed only for ty to land and dash backward deflecting the inquisitors blade with his shortened green bladed lightsaber before slashing the inquisitor across the stomach with his orange blade going past the dying twe"lek he cut the second inquisitor up along her spine killing her instantly while zelan caught the leaders blade on his allowing ty to spin around unleashing a powerful force push which the inquisitor matched but was overpowered when Zelan added his own to the blast sending the inquister flying into the ocean ty grabbed Zelan by the shoulder leading him to the starfighter the two climbed inside ty closed the canopy and started the engines up lifting off and was in the air before the inquistor had gotten back to shore.
Ruusan
Kalan woke in a cold cave laying in a pool of water he sat up looking around confused he went for his lightsabers but found them both missing he looked around for dez but she was gone he saw something floating in the water and realized they were bodies. Bodies of younglings jedi knights masters clones the water was now red like blood and he stood up stumbling back from the bodies he saw a black cloaked man with his lower face covered by a mask sulfuric yellow eyes burning into him with a glare of hate. He saw a second cloaked figure a hunched older man with a dark smile he then saw a man kalan would know anywhere as anakin skywalker. "The order is broken!" Sidious said. "Only darkness remains." The masked man said. "The order is broken." Vader said. A body stood out of the water and he saw it was his sister a smoking hole in her chest a look of helplessness in her eyes as she reached for him he looked down seeing all the bodies reaching for him. "Let go!" They all yelled.
Kalan woke screaming covered in sweat his heart racing only to see he was in his and dez's bedroom which was dark and just as they had left it one desk was covered in datapads the other was a work station which had kalans two ligntsabers his sisters and the red lightsaber that he had taken from zion during their duel. He looked beside him to see dez looking at him hair messy from sleep her blue eyes looking at him in concern. "If we weren't galactic fugitives i would suggest a therapist but we are galactic fugitives." Dez said. "Sorry go back to sleep sorry i woke you." Kalan said. "Do you want to talk about it?" Dez asked. "There isnt anything to talk about really same damn vision same damn words and i have no idea what its trying to tell me." Kalan said. Dez pulled him back down to lay next to her wrapping her arms around him and resting her head on his chest. "Calm your mind clear your thoughts."  Dez said. "You know laying next to you bring a completely different type of thought to mind i might not want cleared.
Suddenly hk burst into the room blaster rifle in hand. "Threat: hault intruders or be vaporized meatbags!" Hk yelled. "How are those thoughts now?" Dez asked. "Ruined." Kalan grumbled. "Thought so." Dez said.
Morriband
Zion opened his eyes as he brought the ship down for a landing near the old ruins of the sith academy and the valley of the dark lords the dark side of the force radiated all around him as if the planet itself was alive but even through the haze of dark side saturation he sensed a familiar presence in the force one that knew he was there and knew the reasons behind his presence. Zion left his ship behind walking out into the open valley. "Maul!" Zion yelled using the force to augment his yell. "Dont make me come hunt you down!" Zion yelled. "Come out and face me!" Zion yelled his voice carrying for miles.
A black hooded figure emerged from the ruins of one of the crepts walking down the stone stares he threw off his hood revealing the red and black skinned zabrak the closest thing zion had to a brother. "Little zion all grown up i see.... I truly never thought he would send you someone he passed over three times to be his apprentice." Maul said. "No more running maul its over i was sent to end the disgrace you have become." Zion stated. "A disgrace am i?.... No i was blind even i didn't see the true scope of our masters designs i was meant to fall on naboo dooku meant to die in the battle of courasant we were nothing more than stepping stones to deliver him the apprentice he truly desired!" Maul yelled. "You mean vader?" Zion asked. "Is that what he calls him?" Maul asked hearing the name for the first time. "So that was the end of skywalker?" Maul said to himself turning away from zion. "Kneel maul accept your fate." Zion ordered. Maul stiffened at the order clenching his fist. "Still the obedient tool.... Well your the wrong one for this task!" Maul yelled drawing and igniting a crimson blade zion drew igniting one of his own lightsabers as maul slashed backward at zion who caught his blade on his own holding his ground against the former sith. "Your reaction time as improved since the last time we sparred do you remember when i left you near death on the ground some would try to avoid repeating such trauma!" Maul said. "And others would seek revenge!" Zion yelled drawing his second lightsaber igniting the blade slashing at mauls midsection forcing the zabrak to jump backward igniting the second blade on his double bladed lightsaber. The two circled eachother their power in the dark side rising with each passing moment under the scorching morriband sun.
They lunged at each other with zion unleashing a storm of fast and powerful strikes using form seven juyo maul countered with using form three deflecting each strike with his double bladed lightsaber spinning it around in a protective circle until a opening presented itself he deflected both zions blade away and performed a spinning kick that caught zion in the side of the head sending him falling to the ground rolling maul then raced after him slashing downward at him zion who used the force to hold the blade at bay before shoving maul backward zion recovered his weapons and went back on the offensive maul slashed at zion who deflected the blow with one blade slashing at mauls head with his second blade barely missing mauls head as he ducked under the slash he lashed out with his blade slashing at zions side zion stepped away from the striking still taking a shallow cut to the side but slashed at maul grazing the top of mauls shoulder and collar causing the former sith to jump back yelling in pain clutching his shoulder while zion ignored the searing pain in his side letting it fuel his anger and feeding it to the dark side building up more darkside energy. "It doesnt have to be this way zion!" Maul yelled as a storm began to kick up. "I know you are making this far worse than it needs to be just kneel and i will end you quickly." Zion said.
The storm began to pick up making visibility nearly impossible maul suddenly ran using the force to boost his speed toward the old sith academy zion followed the former sith jumping and bringing his blades down on maul who swung his double blade up to deflect the blow he managed to deflect the attacks only for zions left blade to catch the emitter of his double blade destroying one of his blades leaving maul with just a single bladed lightsaber with a longer handle than a regular one but maul was quick to adjust his grip and rush into the academy using the force to close the ancient metal doors behind him.
Zion used the force to enforce his body forming barrier in front of him as he plowed through the old metal door shattering it and entering the darkness of the academy his crimson blades illuminating a small area around him as the darkness seemed to press in on him.
"Can you feel it zion?" Mauls voice echoed through the dark academy. "The spirits of the sith who died here the victims of the machinations of darth bane a feat unmatched until sidious but it was bane who laid the ground work for him." Maul said.
Zion felt something tugging at him and suddenly heard whispers that grew into shrieks of rage and pain as the spirits of the long dead sith specters nothing but dark side echos were called up all around him swarming him attempting to consume him.
Zion unleashed a powerful blast of dark side powers dispelling or destroying the spirits. "Dont you see?" Maul demanded. "Sidious is using you your nothing but a tool he will use and discard just like grievous.... Just like dooku.... And just like me!" Maul yelled before his crimson blade ignited slashing at zion from behind zion blocked the slash only for maul to shove past his guard ramming his head horns into zions chest knocking him off a walk way and falling into a pit where he landed hard on his back grunting in pain unable to catch his breath and losing his lightsabers in the fall.
"Are you still alive?... I once regarded you as a brother he groomed us that way us and the others why serve him? Why be so loyal to someone who as over looked you time and time again?." Maul said down at him. Zion coughed as he laid in the darkness.
Ziost hidden academy

The boy fell to the ground from the strike to his face by the young red and black skinned zabrak he coughed and spat blood on the ground. "Good 31 good." Came sidious's voice the two youths looked up at the young man with combed back blond hair he had a warm grin and trusting eyes 31 basked in the praise while the boy looked down in shame.
the dark cloaked muun stood with a face mask and respirator covering a deformed face. "This is not in line with the rule of two." Darth plaguis stated. "Oh master these youths arent being trained as sith they are merely being trained to be our agents they will work behind the scenes they will do the deeds we cant afford to." Sidious explained. Plaguis nodded his understanding as the two sith walked away speaking of events happening on naboo.
The boy got up as other boys and girls fought in similar rings in sparring matches purple robed men monitored each match grading their performance maul wiped blood from his own mouth.
31 and the boy were lead back to their cells which had beds and refreshers but other than that they had no furniture the cells were small barely bigger than supply closet.
(I grew up in a place a hidden academy on ziost we were trained from young ages to be whatever the sith needed us to be our goal was to become a apprentice those who showed skills in the force were canditates for this path but those who didnt were sent to be part of a different program one of sidious's  side plans.... We basked in his praise recoiled from his displeasure and trembled in front of his wrath. 31 my friend and the closest thing i had to a brother was chosen to be sidious's apprentice while i became sidious's wrath and lead the shadow hands.)
The boy looked to the purple robed man. "Number 28 lost the match but scored thirty eight hits he can choose between food or bedding 31 won the match with forty two hits he gets full portions and a blanket." The purple robed man said to two guards who nodded.
The boy known as 28 took his quarter portion of food and curled up in a ball on his bare slab of a bed using the force to warm him from the cold of the night.
Present day
Zions eyes opened coughing pain spread from his chest he rolled to his hands and knees breathing heavily from pain. "Maul!" Zion yelled pained from the fall. "I am still here.... Do you remember the arenas? Do you remember the fights? Do you remember those cold nights where they didnt even give us a blanket.... I can't defeat him alone hes too powerful too smart for that but together even with vader at his side we could do it zion we can do it together we can defeat him and take the galaxy for our own!" Maul yelled.
Zion focused on channelling the force through his body and when he opened his eyes he could see through the darkness clearly his eyes adapted and enhanced through the force. He saw his lightsabers against the walls to either side of him he recalled his weapons using the force to propel himself out of the pit he had been dropped into landing on the main floor of the academy it looked like a sparring arena he turned seeing maul entering the arena. "What is your answer zion join me be my brother once again. Or be the tool he uses until you break?" Maul demanded.
Zion ignited his two lightsabers and maul looked down disappointed igniting his own lightsaber as he entered the arena. "One last match." Maul stated. "One last match." Zion said as he entered the arena.
The two flashed back to when they were children standing in the arena of the sparring field the two children circled eachother.
Zion made the first move send a flurry of fast and quick strikes that maul deflected expertly.
31 deflected the final strike from 28 and preformed a spinning kick to 28s jaw.
Zion hit the ground hard on his back as maul slashed down at him only for zion to catch mauls blade on his own and did a sweeping kick knocking maul off his feet.
28 unleashed a force push that sent the already airborne 31 flying backward hitting the ground in a roll.
Maul came to a stop to his knees as zion pressed his attack raining down blows with his crimson blades showering sparks with each blow.
31 struggled against 28s savage attack his wooden staff beginning to splinter under the barrage 31 suddenly rolled slashing at 28s right leg.
Zion jumped away from mauls attack sending bolts of blue lightning at maul who caught the bolts on his blade countering with a telekentically thrown rock that struck Zion in the ribs.
28 collapsed to his knees from the stone to the ribs as 31 one jumped into the air coming down with a powerful two handed slash 28 tried to block the strike.
Mauls lightsaber destroyed both of zions lightsabers emitters while also destroying his own in the process leaving a shallow glowing cut in his chest.
31 stood over the now defeated 28 he raised his staff to perform the finishing blow. "Enough." Came sidious's voice stopping him. "Both of you kneel." Sidious said the two boys knelt at the dark lords feet he looked down at 31 and smiled. "The force is strong in you hence forth you shall be named darth maul my new apprentice." Sidious stated with a satisfied grin he then turned to 28. "And you will be known as zion my wrath and personal enforcer." Sidious said. "Thank you my master." The two youths said.
Maul discarded his broken weapon looking down at zion maul drew a second lightsaber igniting a black blade. "It could have been different i wanted it to be different but you were too blinded by your own loyalty that you couldn't see the truth so now like before you lose and now you die." Maul said. Zions eyes flashed open and unleashed a powerful blast of purple lightning blasting maul backward sending him to the ground his darksaber falling down a pit maul crawled toward the pits edge as if he would recover the weapon as zion got up and unleashed a second blast of lightning into mauls body making him cry out in agony and sending maul into the pit falling into the darkness zion then unleashed a massive blast of force enegy into the old building bringing it crashing down around him burying maul beneath it.
Zion came out of the rubble limping toward his ship climbing aboard holding the smoldering wound and several puncture wounds from mauls head horns he activated the ships drives and entered the coordinates for ziost in the hyperdrive he then laid back and allowed the force to flow through him to allow his body to start healing.
