chapter nine

Kalan felt the disturbance in the force as if two powerful forces had clashed but the disturbance had passed rather quickly with no hint of a victor kalans mind now dwelled on the fleet of Imperial ships that had entered the system he reached out with the force finding the dark and twisted mind of vader that also reached out in an attempt to locate him his intent was clear as images of his slaughtered friends and the death of his sister flooded into his mind but kalan didn't react to the memory or the enjoyment vader had taken when performing the act.
The two were suddenly standing in ankle deep water the bodies of vaders victims floated around them and vader didn't appear as anikan skywalker nor in his black suit instead his burned and scarred Visage was shown with his yellow eyes glaring at kalan who stood calmly wearing his brown cloak. "You will die resistance is futile you would only be delaying the inevitable." Vader said. "I know victory is impossible I know this only ends with the destruction of the jedi I and all of us have made peace with that." Kalan said. "So you finally accept your destiny." Vader said. "The force as shown me much but it hasn't shown me one thing." Kalan said. "And that is?" Vader asked. "Whether or not you survive the destruction of the order. We will stand and we will fight the sith even if the jedi are destroyed today we will do our best to remove the darkness that is the sith from this galaxy." Kalan said. "So be it." Vader said.
Kalan opened his eyes and looked to jasmine. "They are here." Kalan said. Jasmine nodded and went to tell the other jedi he watched as the planetary shields were raised and anti orbital cannons aimed upward as the battle droids all got in position.
The first line of their defensive measures were triggered lighting the skies with purple detonations ion mines that rendered numerous vessels inoperable and helpless while those not affected would move through the cleared path made by their unfortunate comrades only for the night sky to have flashes of red detonations as proton mines were triggered destroying several more of vaders fleet who saw their numbers now dwindled to only three functioning star destroyers which moved unto position for orbital bombardment the three star destroyers rained down green turbo laser fire hammering the planetary shields while the anti orbital guns returned fire hammering the three ships but the stalemate didn't last very long as the shield generators were over powered and destroyed meanwhile in space one of the trio of star destroyers had been reduced to a floating debris the second had been disabled but vaders ship remained shielded by its sister ships.
They all sensed the deployment of Imperial forces as shuttles carrying Imperial troops the new ATAT walkers were brought down to provide support the AO guns continued firing destroying several of the shuttles and two of the walkers before being destroyed by roaring tie fighters.
Kalan sensed vaders arrival on the field and took a breath to calm his nerves his hand uncovering his lightsaber as he saw the Imperial forces approaching the droids began firing at the stormtroopers killing several even as the stormtroopers returned fire destroying several of the droids as the air was filled with Lazer fire crisscrossing between the two sides as if recreating a scene from the clone wars only this time the jedi and clones were fighting on opposite sides.
Several jedi ignited their lightsabers deflecting blaster fire back to those who had fired them while a second line of jedi used the force to lift one of the massive walkers off the ground dropped it onto one of its fellow walkers destroying them both.
A z95 headhunter flew over head firing into the Imperial lines leaving a path of destruction in its wake and kalan could sense Dez in control of the fighter craft she shot down several tie fighters and sent missiles into the remaining walkers.
Three tie fighters pursued Dez who went into evasive maneuvers.
The storm troopers reached the jedis lines shooting down any Droids in their path some fell to blaster fire from droids others were cut down by jedi who fought to hold the lines.
Kalan jumped into the fray slashing limbs from bodies while deflecting blaster bolts back into those who fired them. He kicked a stormtrooper to the ground slashing the man across the chest. He used the force to change a tie fighters trajectory causing it to crash into the Imperial lines.
Jasmine cut down several stormtroopers with her lightsabers she kicked one in the head before slashing another. Kalan cleaved one trooper in half and used the force to blast several more away.
A jedi was torn apart by the strands of a lightwhip and kalan was shocked to sense Luna radiating with anger hate and pain and the figure he saw wielding the lightwhip was covered in black armor her head covered in a black helmet similar to vaders her fingers ended in sharp claws she removed the helmet to show badly scarred skin one eye was jet black a cybernetic replacement she had scars on both cheeks showing where her metal lower jaw had been grafted in place the right half of the top of her head was a metal plate an ear missing where a metal cap had been installed. "This is what you made me!" Luna yelled her voice slightly altered by a cybernetic implant in her throat. "This is what you made yourself." Kalan stated. "I was told by vader you were his but it looks like he will just be disappointed." Luna said.
Kalan summoned the lightsaber of the jedi she killed to his hand igniting its blue blades with his green one. "I am sorry you ended up this way but your condition was the path you chose." Kalan said.
Luna lashed her whip at kalan who caught it on the blue blade deflecting it aside with his green blade as he closed the distance with her she brought whip around them and attempted to get him from behind with the strands he jumped over and back flipped over the strands striking the strands with his lightsabers until he finally closed the distance with her slashing her whips emitter destroying the weapon he then hit her with a force blast sending her flying backward only to be caught in the air by the force by vader who slashed off Lunas legs. "My orders were clear inquistor I will deal with jedi leader personally your insubordination will not go unpunished." Vader stated throwing Luna away as he looked to kalan who stared right back at vader.
"Tell me where obi-Wan kenobi is located and I take you alive." Vader stated. "I don't know where kenobi is hiding but I assume that is why your trapped in that suit why your outside fits your self now." Kalan stated. "I will find him after I am done with you." Vader said. "I will do what i must." Kalan stated.
Kalan jumped at vader slashing at the sith with his two sabers vader deflected each blow aside and slashed at kalan who caught his blade on both his sabers the force of the blow nearly made kalans knees buckle. Kalan side stepped vaders blade and slashed him across the right shoulder damaging his shoulder armor vader responded by sending a powerful force blast into kalan sending him flying crashing into several stormtroopers knocking them to the ground as well.
Jasmine attacked vader with a flurry of strikes from her Saber which vader deflected with easy only to pick her up with the force choking her he then flung her aside sending her crashing into a wall of the fort knocking her out.
Kalan launched himself back into the fight slashing with his two lightsabers which vader struggled to block or deflect as kalan scored a hit to vaders left shoulder and right hip landing a kick to vaders helmet staggering the dark lord.
Another jedi attempted to take the siths head only for vader to run the jedi through the chest before cleaving another jedi in half and grabbing a third by the throat crushing his throat in his hand throwing the body aside.
Dez came at vader from behind slashing him across the back getting a cry of pain from the sith who spun around slashing at Dez who tried to block the strike but it came down with such force that vaders blade cut down on her blade destroying her lightsaber. Dez drew a vibro dagger stabbing vader in the left side only for him to grab her by the throat running her through before kalan could reach them as stormtroopers got in his path only to be cut apart in a flurry of slashes vader tossed Dez at kalan who caught her in his arms dropping his lightsabers.
"It's over everything you hold dear is destroyed." Vader said.
Kalan held Dez close to him kissing her forehead. "Why... why did you come here?" Kalan cried tears running down his face she reached up to touch his face. "I came to be with you.... you don't have to face it alone..." Dez said weakly before passing away.
"No!" Kalan cried and for a moment vader hesitated at seeing the moment as memories of padme came his mind and that moment of hesitation was all hk-47 needed as he fired a over charged blaster bolt into vaders right side making him cry out in pain looking at the Droid who fired a second shot which vader sent into the back of a jedi before grabbing hk-47 with the force lifting him up in the sky as the force grip crushed the Droid bringing its crushed ball form toward vader who cleaved it in half ending the Droid for good.
Vader sensed something coming and looked up to see a bad of fire coming toward the planet and turned out to be the disabled star destroyer that was heading right for the battle site.
Vader reached out with the force trying to slow or repel the ship back into space but all it did was cause the ship to start breaking apart.
Meanwhile the battle continued to rage around them with jedi being gunned down and stormtroopers being cut down by the dozens explosions rocked the area as the remaining droids continued the fight all oblivious or not caring about the speeding burning ship that was about to turn the site into a smoldering crater.
Vaders breathing became labored as he drew heavier on the force both hands raised as the force energy around him crackled he felt as if he was on fire all over again stopping the crash was impossible but guiding it wasn't as vader caused the ship to miss battle site by several miles but the impact shook the ground beneath their feet as the star destroyer erupted into a mushroom cloud a concussion wave washed over the battlefield followed by a dust cloud and then a wall of fire that washed over the battle site even as smaller bits of debris rained down around them.
When the smoke cleared and the battle field was rendered to nothing but a rubble covered wasteland vader emerged from the rubble his cape missing his right sleeve and left pant leg missing exposing the metal limbs underneath his helmet was cracked and damaged. He looked around the wasteland not seeing nor sensing a single living thing.
Lunas cybernetic hand burst from the rubble as she began to pull her self out of the rubble as a shuttle came down lowering its boarding ramp as medical teams arrived one team went to Luna loading g her onto a gurney and carrying her back to the ship vader moved a large rock and saw the young jedi woman who had attacked him before he pulled her from the rubble when he noticed she was still alive vader instructed the second medical team to take her as a prisoner. "Lord vader the shuttle can only take two are you certain you want us to take her and not you?" The medic asked. "Send a second shuttle for me." Vader ordered.
He watched the shuttle take off toward space and looked back seeing several rocks floating off of kalan who cradled the body of his lover who vader had killed he laid her body down and looked to vader who ignited his lightsaber kalan did the same.
Kalan bleed from a cut on his forehead and was physically exhausted from shielding himself from the destroyers plummet to the ground every part of his body was sore and bruised from the rubble that had rained down on him.
Kalan charged at vader slashing savagely at him each attack came down with a great deal of force that vader in his weakened state struggled to block he didn't sense anger or hate driving kalan while he had those feelings it wasn't what he was fighting for at that moment. Kalan hammered vaders guard until he cut off vaders left hand disarming him but kalan didn't stop as he cut off vaders right leg and then delivered a powerful strike to vaders helmet breaking it and exposing the face beneath kalan kicked vader in the chest sending him to his back he stomped on vaders chest controls over and over with each blow kalan saw a man in black in some visions he wielded a green lightsaber he foresaw the figure defeating vader and then foresaw anikan skywalker returning and slaying the emperor.
Kalan looked down at vader whose chest sparked and his breathing strained kalan extinguished his lightsaber and hooked it to his belt going over to dez's body picking it up and started walking away.
Vader used the force to lift several large bolders and sent them at kalan who looked back eyes widening as the bolders struck causing a large dust cloud to form.
The second shuttle came down for a landing the medical team rushed to vaders side and got him to the shuttle so that he could recieve medical treatment for his injuries.
The dust cleared as the shuttle lifted off to return to  vaders star destroyer. Kalan carried Dez to his fighter laying her into his cargo hold and climbing into his fighter the sole survivor of the last stand of the jedi order as far as the rest of the galaxy was concerned.

The repairs to vaders suit was made as were the first aid for his injuries as a hologram of darth sidious appeared in front of him. "How was the extermination of the last remnants of the jedi order?" Sidious asked. "There was only one survivor a female jedi. The rest have all been eliminated my master." Vader reported. "Good lord Vader send the survivor to the inquistors they can find a use for her and your certain there were no other survivors?" Sidious asked. "None my master." Vader stated.
The emperor addressed all the world's under the empires control his hologram appearing in everyone home every business every street and every bar or tavern. "Today marks a day to be remembered as our forces had located the last of the traitorous jedi and in a single battle they were defeated at last we can take breath that peace and stability as finally been restored with the last embers of the jedi order eliminated over two hundred jedi faced an Imperial force and were swiftly crushed and slain to the last never to threaten the new order ever again." Sidious proclaimed.
Meanwhile on tatoonie obi-Wan heard the report and number of the fallen jedi and collapsed to his knees in shock it felt as if he would pass out. (What were they thinking.... so many had survived and were now gone.) Obi-Wan thought as a man came over and helped him to the bar. "Hey a glass of water over here my friend here let the heat get to him." The man said.
Meanwhile on alderaan bail organa heard the news and covered his mouth in sorrow recalling meeting Kalan and the other jedi when he gave them the decommissioned space station he couldn't believe that they were truly gone.
Meanwhile in a secret Imperial laboratory zion floated in a bacta tank as a Droid extracted a sample of his blood and started growing an embryo with the label dathon.

Kalan landed his fighter as the other jedi crowded around it surprised that he was alive. Kalan got out of the fighter and retrieved the body of Dez from the cargo hold he carried her through the crowd without saying a word because there wasn't much left to say.
Planet corvus
Alpha woke with a pain in his head he noticed that his severed arm and leg had both been replaced by limbs made out of baskar and he saw a small tissue slide on the table next to his bed and picked it seeing the inhibitor chip that he had been implanted with had been removed his fingers ran across a incision on his forehead he had woke in time to hear the emperors address about the jedi massacre officially ending the orders existence which meant even if he had killed zion he still would have been out of the job.
