Light Me Up Again

Chapter 1

ARLO

"Oh my lord Luci, please be alive. CHRISTIAN, ROBERT HELP!"

I finally found Luci's body once the waves calmed, I pulled her from the water and ran back up towards the house. The rain hasn't stopped, and the wind is becoming dangerous. Her lips are blue, her body is pale, and she feels like ice. Deep down, I'm panicking and have tears falling from my eyes as I walk her through the gate.

"Move, Christian, Robert inside now. Elliot, go run a hot shower, colin start the fire and put the heater on in her room. " I instruct everyone as I run her inside to warm her up, hoping she will survive. I strip her from her clothes and put her into a warm shower, making sure the water doesn't touch her body, causing it to go into shock.

While I was looking after her, Christian called for an ambulance, and Robert calmed down the hysteric ladies downstairs. "Come on, Luci, you survived once you can do it again," I hear Elliot talking to her and can only hope she can hear his voice. I've seen worse incidents as a doctor, and I can regain composure, but knowing that this happened to the love of my life, it's hard to deal with.

As I sit next to her, praying that she wakes up and jumps into my arms, i break down. Elliot comes over and puts his hand on my shoulder. "it's going to be ok, man. She's a strong girl. we have the best medical team in this house, and I'm sure she will make it." He tries to reassure me that everything will be ok but my heart is broken, I upset her by not being the man she needs and now again I can't be the man she needs by helping her.

"Elliot, it's all my fault. I should have protected her. If I just did the right thing, she wouldn't have been mad and ran off. I was going to propose to her today, but something kept getting in the way. I guess the timing wasn't right."

I look at Elliot's face. it's shocked. "You were going to propose," he repeats back to me, confused. I nod my head and rest my hand on her chest. "I love this girl Elliot, ever since I laid my eyes on her. Our relationship has been amazing, perfect almost, she is the love of my life, and I want her to be my wife, maybe the mother of my children." He jumps to his feet and paces the length of the bathroom.

Deep down I knew he still had feelings for her, but he has a fiancé he has chosen his destiny, so I thought he wouldn't mind, and honestly having him know my intentions now will give him time to adjust to when it happens. He pushes the bathroom door open with his feet and walks out. I can hear the ambulance arrived and the sound of metal equipment shaking as it's bought upstairs.

"Move Arlo. Let us look after her." Christian grabs my arm, pulling me away from her. "No no no no no let me stay with her, I can't leave her," I yell as they force me out of the bathroom. I'm pacing up and down the bedroom as the ambulance staff set up. "Lay her on the bed and let's get her hooked up." I see the doctors carry her lifeless body onto the bed as the staff charges the defibulator.

I fall to my knees, run my fingers into my hair, and pull at it. The feeling of complete devastation has come over my body. I can't help my baby, my wife, to be. All I can do is sit back and watch as my girlfriends body gets hundreds of volts shocked into her in hopes that her heart will start again.

"Come on baby, you got this wake up. You have so much to live for, and we haven't even started our life together, " I whisper to myself, knowing full well she can't hear me. A hand squeezes my shoulder. "She's going to make it; Arlo and you will have the life you plan for her." Suddenly, I hear beeping from the monitor. it's steady, IT'S A HEART BEAT. My eyes widen as I look up to the monitor. She is ok, and she's alive.

I jump to my feet and push everyone out of the way. I lean over and kiss her cold lips. "I love you baby; I love you so much." We take her out and secure her inside the ambulance. "I'll see you guys at the hospital," and they shut the doors.

I sit beside the bed, looking down at Luci, tears falling from my eyes onto her silky skin. "I am sorry baby that I wasn't the man you needed today, but I am that man you need and we will have the life you want, just come back to me and we can work this out together". I continue to talk to her until we arrive at the hospital.

Robert and Christian were waiting in the emergency bay, and we rushed her into a private room. I get cleaned up and help set up the room to help monitor her. Tonight was the worst night of my life, and now the waiting, till when she wakes up.
