Beau's POV

The day of Adeline's first soccer game of the season had finally arrived, and I couldn't contain my excitement. Wearing her away jersey, number 2 proudly displayed on my back, I joined Eden and the rest of the basketball team in the stands to cheer on the soccer team.

As the game kicked off, my eyes never strayed far from Adeline on the field. She moved with a grace and determination that captivated me, her every move commanding attention. Eden couldn't help but tease me, but I brushed off her comments, unable to tear my gaze away from Adeline's mesmerizing performance.

Adeline looked at peace on the field. It seemed like all her worries floated away. She was a star, playing midfield was never an easy task but she made it look easy. The way she easily dribbled through the other team was incredible. Nothing could stop the girl.

In this moment, all I wanted was for Adeline and her team to succeed. And succeed they did. With Adeline's leadership and skill, they dominated the field, scoring goal after goal with ease. A 5-0 easy win.

As the final whistle blew and the soccer team celebrated their victory, I couldn't wait to congratulate Adeline on her amazing performance. But as I made my way towards her, my heart sank at the sight before me.

Adeline was standing by the sidelines, talking with the star hockey player, Callum. They were laughing and joking, their easy conversation causing a pang of jealousy to twist in my chest. I couldn't help but be jealous, Callum was a 6'3 star hockey player who resembled a young Johnny Deep. And as I watched them drive off together, my heart shattered into a million pieces.

Had Adeline forgotten about our plans to celebrate after the game? Or worse, had she deliberately chosen to spend time with someone else instead of me? The questions swirled in my mind, each one more painful than the last.

Feeling lost and alone, I retreated to the basketball gym, seeking solace in the familiar surroundings. The echoes of laughter and celebration from the soccer field felt like a distant memory as I sank onto the bleachers, the weight of disappointment heavy on my shoulders.

What had I done wrong? Had I misread the signals between us? Or was I simply not enough for Adeline to choose me over someone else? The doubts gnawed at me, threatening to consume me whole.

As I sat in the empty gym, the silence of the room wrapping around me like a blanket, I couldn't help but feel a sense of profound sadness wash over me. Maybe Adeline and I were never meant to be more than friends. And as I stared at the empty court before me, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had lost something precious, something I could never regain.
