At first, I didn't notice because I was still riding high on my recent achievements. Earning A rank at the Crafters Guild. Passing all the demon classes that Raoul and his wives set for me to learn. Finally beating Raoul in a sparing match, much to everyone's surprise; he, however, was proud. And gaining full citizenship.

The first strange thing was Ike. Lately, he hasn't been eating the potions I make, nor the ones Alma, Saras, or Terra make; nor the ones the others buy. A week later I woke up to find he'd gotten more translucent, shrank to the size of my fist, and could now talk. Once we all got over the shock, we resumed our daily lives.

(And, yes, Ike talking was a sign that he evolved into an Oracle Slime.)

The second strange thing still involved Ike. Not only could he talk, he could also disguise himself. Nothing big, he just changes color or disappears completely. That'll come in handy when I take him with me everywhere I go. (FYI: Having a slime for a familiar or a pet is quite common here.)

The third weird thing happened when the other demon lords, both local and outer, started asking me for advice. As you may have guessed, they wanted to know how they could get closer to their wives, or learn more about them in some cases. And yes, Armageddon was part of that group, but Raoul had to be the mediator because his aura could still suffocate me.

(If you're curious, I'll set that as a separate side story.)

The final weird thing that got me suspicious was when my fellow fairies started disappearing one by one.

It started with those sent to the Reptilians; all but three of them went missing. Then the lycan and beastmen brides, followed by the orcs and the other races. Again, all but three went missing. As far as I know, the fairies in the capital are all still here. (Technically, Callula is in a different realm, but still.)

But when Aqua and Calypso disappeared, followed by Callula shortly after, I realized something was up. Add in the fact that Freda and Armageddon came to the training field to ask me about their whereabouts, and the whole scene came together. (FYI: Freda, and to my knowledge, all the other fairies, was still wearing those protective collars around her neck.)

At first, I didn't recognize Armageddon because he took on a dark-elf form and completely masked his aura.

"Who's this guy, Freda?" I asked.

"It's me, Armageddon." he introduced himself.

I shook my head, not believing him. "Uh-uh. If you were Armageddon, I'd be dead of suffocation by now."

Rather than argue, he briefly showed me his true form. After I stopped coughing, I apologized and asked what they wanted.

"Has Callula come by for a sparing session with Raoul?" Freda asked while Armageddon looked anxious.
