CHAPTER - 11

[ RUTH ]

I walk out of the room barely controlling my anger, what happened to her and who the hell did this to her ?

My anger boils every time she flinches from my touch.
At first I thought it was because of me but no there's something else.

The way she closed her eyes earlier as if she expected a hit, The cowering and shuttering while speaking..

Someone broke my woman.

And i make a promise to myself I'll break that person who ever is responsible for it.

If it's her disgusting father who did this i swear to god I'll make him suffer.

And the panic attack she had while looking at my car I'm sure she recognised it. Well that's my fault I didn't expect she would notice my car.

Right now I need a fucking drink and she also need some space to grasp her situation.

Sitting in my office i couldn't focus on a damn thing.

"There, I thought you are having a good time with your new wife, why the fuck are you sitting in your office?" Marcus asks as he entered the office.

My wife...I like the sound of it, and my last name suits her very well...Ava Ashton.

"She needs time to process today's events" I mutter.

"Something else is bothering you, out with it" he looks at me pointedly.

I sigh "her behaviour, i suspect she has gone through something that made her the way she is now" I told him.

"Well seeing the way her father treated her today morning I'm not surprised at all" his face grim

"I should have killed him the moment his slaped her in front of me. Maybe I can go now and kill him it's not late you see..." I fist my hands

"I understand, even I couldn't control myself when he raised his hand, but the problem is he's still her father what if she resents you and seeing that's she not a big fan of your now as it is" Marcus says.

He has a point I don't want Ava to resent or hate me I can't bear it.

"You have to be patient with her" he says.

"Hmm.." I'm not a person known for being patient but for her ill try my best to gather as much patience as I can.

"What about that fucker Daniel Martin ?" I ask taking a sip from my glass

"Well.. when our men when to his casino to get him, the fucker must have got a wind about it and fled the place and went into hiding. We are trying to track his location."

I sigh obviously not happy with the outcome.

My thoughts return to the earlier conversation, When i agreed to her request for going to college, i couldn't shake her reaction from my mind.

Her eyes went wide like a cute bunny not believing what she was hearing, and the immediate relief and excitement that followed.

She even thanked me as if I have given her the world.

The moment I think I know her she shows a new side and takes me by surprise.

My wife is a little package of surprises, I smiled internally.

"Join us for dinner" I said.

"Only if we order my favourite food" he replied with a smirk. This little fox I'll get back to him some other time.

"Then get your lazy ass up and go order some food" i muttered.

"Woohoo... finally I'm going to talk to Ava, my sister-in-law, I'm going tell all of your embarassing stories" he got up with excitement and started walking out of the door.

"You better behave! Or I'll poison your food" I threatened. He left laughing like it's the joke of the year.

That little shit always getting on my nerves.

Marcus and Ava are two important people in my life and I want them to bond. I'm sure Ava will befriend him soon because of the carefree and mischievous behaviour he has.

Her skin felt so good when I kissed her forehead. Her scent is intoxicating. That little contact got me hard at a speed of lightning.

And I remind myself that I need to keep a check on my desires, she needs time.

Fucks i never new keeping my hands to myself could be this difficult, every time I see her I have this urge to touch her, to hold her hands, to keep her close to me, to make sure that she's really here.

My phone rang it's Marcus "hey come on I'm hungry, I'm waiting downstairs let go home" he says and cuts the call before I could respond.

That little fox, he needs a good beating i muttered.
