CHAPTER - 10

[AVA]

"Ava" he called and i slowly raised my head and looked at him, his face showing no emotion he continued "I know this is all so sudden and came as a shock for you, but make no mistake.. we are married and now you are my wife." his complete attention on me "you'll be loyal to me and I'll be loyal to you." he said with finality.

I  immediately nod in agreement. "Use your words, Ava."

"Y-Yes i understand and I'll be loyal to you" i said in a small voice.

To be honest I was taken back by what he said...

He said he will be loyal to me! i didn't expected him to say that. 

"You will not keep your head down when I'm around, and when we have a conversation you'll look at me not the floor." he has been observing my actions all this time.

I nod again, he's looking at me as if i missed something.. ohhh yes.. words "okay" i said.

Having his full attention on me I think I'm going to have a nervous break down.

Taking a sip from his glass he continued "This is your home now.. Feel free to look around there are no restrictions, your luggage has already been brought and it's in our bedroom."

He said my home... But I don't feel like it at all. And ofcourse we'll be sharing the same room and I have to perform my wife duties.

Will he force me to have sex with him ? Unknown terror takes hold of me just from the thought of having... I got lost in my own thoughts his voice pulled me back

"Ava"

"I-im sorry, what did you say"  I spoke trembling that he might get angry because I was not paying him attention.

But he didn't instead he repeated "I was saying that you have to always inform me if your leaving the penthouse. I have assigned a bodyguard for you, you'll meet him soon, If I'm not at home you'll not go out without a bodyguard. Understood ? " He said calmly

I can't believe what I'm hearing, why I need a bodyguard I'm no important person.

Now that I think about it I remember he had a gun and when we entered the building gates there were guards everywhere.

Gathering my courage i asked "What's your name ? "

Finally there is an expression on his face, his lips forming a small smile "Finally you asked a question" his gaze became a bit softer he said "Ruth... My name is Ruth Ashton, sweetheart".

My face went in flames the way he called me sweetheart.

"You look cute when you blush." he says chuckling.

He looks even more handsome when he smiles and he doesn't seem that dangerous.

"Speak your mind Ava, ask what ever you want to know, i want you to communicate with me" he says.

Clearing my throat I ask "What do you do ?"

"I'm the mafia don, This city is my territory. That is the reason you cannot go out alone without protection"

My jaw dropped from the shock, I heard it right... He said mafia don.

Holy crap i married a mafia don! The most feared and dangerous man in the city.

I heard about the mafia here and there when I was in college. That they rule this place, this is their main territory where the don lives but his power is known all over the mafia world. Even the government fears to go against him.

There was a mafia princess in my college and the rumour says her father deals in human trafficking. What if Ruth also... ??

"W-wha What d-do..." I trailed off unable to ask him the question what if he thinks I'm being rude or noisy and put a bullet in my head!

"I don't deal in drugs, human and sex trafficking" he say as if reading my mind.

What if he's lying??

"I don't lie Ava, I Have no reason to lie" my eyes went wide, and i watched him with an unbelievable expression. don't tell me he can really read people's mind!!

And then he laughed like really laughed "No Ava, I can't read mind baby, you have a very expressive eyes" I saw him in awe the way he laughed.

"Anything else you want to know ?" He asked no longer laughing, his face back to normal.

Till now he did nothing to hurt me so keeping that in mind I tried to push my luck and asked "C-can i continue my college ?"  Holding my breath waiting for his answer I'm sure he will say no but still I had to try.

He narrowed his eyes and i know my  little hope is going to shatter and then he said "If that's what you want, Then fine."

That's a yes right ? I'm not imagining he agreed! "Really ?? Can I ?" I asked not believing my ears.

"Yes, but keep in mind you'll always have your bodyguard. And if something happens within the campus you'll call him or me immediately, is that clear ?"

"Yes, I'll keep that in mind and... Thank you"  I really mean it. Maybe he's not that bad as i imagined him to be.

A silver of hope started to grow in my heart. Maybe this marriage might not turn out as worst as i imagined.

"Where's your phone Ava ?"

"Umm... I don't have my phone, my father confiscated it" I said in a low voice.

Something dark passed in his eyes and it quickly vanished.

"Come I'll show you our room." we got up, he placed his hand gently at my back and I flinched.

He frowned but immediately removed his hand and started climbing upstairs.

Shoot.. he thinks I flinched because of his touch. He doesn't know that I flinched because of the wound on my back, every time my dress rubs against my flesh it burns.

I quickly followed him,. The bedroom is huge, a king size bed in the middle, a big luxurious walk-in closet and a balcony with an amazing view. I have only seen these in movies.

"Fresh up and get yourself comfortable. You can use everything in here just keep my things on one side and you can take the other half." He says walking towards me.

"I'm heading out i have some business to attend I'll be back for dinner. We'll order a take out"  his hand reaching out to my face and i immediately closed my eyes.

When I felt his thumb caressing my cheek I slowly opened my eyes. He's looking at me with something strange in his eyes I can't understand. And then he bent down and kissed my forehead, he took one look at my face and left.

I stood there shocked my hands touching the place where he kissed.
