God, I hope they're not dicks.

Jenna's POV:

Sarah and I chat about Michigan and Virginia and how different California is from other states as she drives me to the apartment complex where I will be living with two of my new teammates, Cheyenne Coffey and Jade Robinson. The coaching staff apparently want the teammates to live together if they can, and thankfully their apartment had a room available for me. So far, the only interaction I have had with them is when I followed them on Instagram after I found out we would be living together and the fact that I've watched all of the team highlights on YouTube.

The streets are lined with palm trees, and the sun is beginning to set, casting orange and pink over everything. It's a beautiful sight, straight out of a movie, but all I can think about was everything that could go wrong right now.

Pulling up to the apartment complex, my nerves only heighten when I see who I assume to be Jade and Cheyenne. The building they stand in front of is modern and sleek. Very LA. As we pull closer, I can see that they are chatting and laughing together.

'God, I hope they're not dicks.' I think, fiddling with my hands.

We stop at the entrance of the complex and I take a deep breath before I look at Sarah, who is already looking at me like a mom dropping her kid off at daycare for the first time.

"I hope you feel at home here, Jenna." She says.

Which actually does make me feel a little better.

"Thank you, I hope so too." I smile as I hop out of the sleek black car and wait for the trunk to open so I can grab my two suitcases.

Before I can grab them, large arms shove me out of the way and I'm momentarily stunned as I stumble back and catch myself.

"Hey! I'm Jade and this is Cheyenne!" The shover exclaims excitedly as she is holding my suitcases.

"We are so happy you're here!" Cheyenne pulls me into a very tight hug for people who have just met, but I find it endearing nonetheless.

"Hi, I'm Jenna." I choke out. God I feel so awkward.

"We know, girl." Jade smirks at me.

"Yeah we stayed up all night watching your highlights. But we obviously knew who you were before now!" Cheyenne gushes.

"Oh, well thank you, I appreciate that." I chuckle awkwardly. Why am I not able to function right now? I want the earth to swallow me.

"Come on, come on, let's go inside so we can get you set up. We don't have anything going on until Monday so we were thinking we could show you around LA a little bit." Jade ushers the three of us inside the lobby. I look back to find Sarah already driving away.

'Bye I guess?' I think to myself.

They lead me to the elevator, and we go up 5 floors before we reach the hallway that leads to my new home.

Part of me wants to hang out with them since they are offering, but the other party of me wants to sit in my room and think about everything until I drive myself crazy. I can't tell which sounds more appealing at the moment, however.

We come to a stop in front of a dark wooden door, and Cheyenne digs around in her jacket pocket until she finds the key and unlocks the door.

"Welcome to our humble abode." Jade bows after setting down my suitcases.

"Thanks." I giggle as I take in my surroundings.

It really is a beautiful apartment. There are floor to ceiling window that look out to the Los Angeles skyline, the kitchen is all white with stainless steel appliances, and what looks to be like a very comfortable cloud couch in the living room along with various other decorations.

"So this is us, the other girls on the team live on other floors but we all live on the same building." Jade says as she jumps on the couch and grabs the controller to the PS5 sitting on the media console.

"Sweet." I reply

"Here let me show you to your room." Cheyenne says as she picks up my bags from where Jade left them at the front door.

We head down the hallway and I find myself in a spacious bedroom with the same floor to ceiling windows from the main room. There's already a bed, dresser, and nightstand in here so I don't have to worry about furniture. As I turn around I notice a walk in closet as well as my own bathroom.

"This is... a lot nicer than I was expecting." I chuckle as I do a three-sixty take on my new bedroom.

"It's a lot at first, I know." Cheyenne smiles. "I'll let you settle in, but Jade and I want to take you to dinner once you're unpacked." She continues as she walks through the door and closes it behind her.

"Okay." I say meekly to the now empty room.

I start unpacking my two big suitcases full of clothes and small items that I brought with me. Folding them neatly into the dresser and hanging up my nicer clothes in my closet.

Once I'm finished with that, I sit on the mattress of my bed and call my mom.

She picks up after one ring.

"Hey baby, how's it going? You okay? Do you like it?" She bombards with questions right as the line picks up.

"Yeah, mom I'm fine I just unpacked my clothes and I'm sitting in my bedroom." I say, feeling the formation of tears already pricking at my eyes. I don't know why I feel upset, I chose to be here. I just feel like a fish jumped into the ocean when I was comfortable in my tank and didn't realize it. But I don't want to tell this to my mom, she'll freak.

We talk a little longer before I hear a knock at my door.

"Come in!" I answer.

"Hey, wanna go grab dinner with me and Jade?" Cheyenne pops her head in and asks.

"Yeah, sure." I smile. I tell my mom that I have to go and I'll call her later.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"In n Out! Have you ever had it?" Jade asks as she walks through the door.

"No, but I've heard of it." I chuckle. Apparently everyone who's never been to California has to try In n Out at least once.

"Alright, Iverson let's go!" Cheyenne says.

Cheyenne, Jade, and I head out of the apartment and down the elevator to the parking garage, where Jades car sits. It's an Audi, which I find really nice for a college student.

"I love your car." I say as I climb in the backseat and drag my hand along the leather seat.

"Thanks! She's my baby." Jade hugs the steering wheel dramatically.

'She's funny. I hope we can stay friends' I think to myself.

We make our way to In n Out and they order for me as we go through the drive through. Once we have the food, Jade takes us back to the apartment so we can eat it there. We make small talk and they ask me about Virginia Tech and why I entered the portal in the first place.

"Just... more opportunity for growth here. There truly isn't a scandalous reason I left Tech. I just felt like I could play in a different way somewhere like here." I admit.

They both nod their heads when Jade perks up.

"Oh! And you'll get to meet our captain Alexis on Monday, she's cool. She should have been the one to greet you earlier today, but she had to take a test or something. I wasn't really listening when she told me to be honest." Jade says.

I feel my stomach drop to my ass.

'God I forgot I have to deal with Alexis Collins.' I internally groan.

"Oh... uh y-yeah." I stutter out.

"Alexis and Jade are best friends." Cheyenne enlightens me.

'Fucking great.' I think.
