Jenna's POV:The team is coming over to our apartment for movie night. It was Jade's idea, and Cheyenne and I agreed it would be a good way to unwind after the first week of classes
Jade, Cheyenne, and I had cleaned up the place and set up snacks in the living room. I was finishing pouring some skittles into a bowl when Xolani, Bianca, and Kari were the first to show up, barging through the door.
"Heyyy bitches!" Bianca sang.
From what I've gathered, Xolani and Bianca live together, Kari, Reagan, and Reese live together, Carmen and Janae live together, and Carly and Alexis live together.
A couple minutes later Carmen and Janae bounded into the apartment followed by Carly, Reese, and Reagan.
Finally, Alexis walked in, her expression unreadable.
We all gathered in the living room, the girls claiming spots on the couch and floor. I sat down in between Reagan and Cheyenne on the floor.
Carly flipped through Netflix, trying to find a good movie, while the rest of us chatted and laughed.
"So, what's everyone in the mood for?" Carly asked, scrolling through the options. "Rom-com? Action? Horror?"
"Horror!" Reese and Janae shouted simultaneously, making everyone laugh.
I felt my stomach tighten. "Uh, can we not do horror?" I suggested, trying to keep my voice from showing that I really don't fuck with horror movies.
"Oh, come on, Jenna," Cheyenne teased, grinning at me. "Scared of a little movie?"
"Seriously?" Alexis snorted, crossing her arms. "Big, tough basketball star scared of a few jump scares?" She smirked.
I shot her a look. "It's called having a preference, Collins. Not everyone enjoys watching people get hacked to pieces."
"Oh, so you'd rather watch some sappy rom-com?" she retorted, rolling her eyes again. "How typical."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I snapped. "Just because I don't like horror doesn't mean I only watch rom-coms."
"Could've fooled me, prom queen." she muttered under her breath, just loud enough for me to hear.
"What did you say?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at her.
"Prom queen. You and your little boyfriend won king and queen senior year of high school, right?" She chuckled
"YOU WON PROM QUEEN?" Jade doubled over in laughter.
"Oh yeah, Jenna was miss popular at her school." Alexis continued, knowing I was getting annoyed.
"You already knew Jenna before UCLA?" Janae asked Alexis.
"She didn't tell you?" I question. "Alexis and I are from neighboring towns in Michigan and played against each other in High School. Our schools were rivals." I explained. Why didn't she tell anyone we knew each other?
"Didn't really think it was that important to bring up." Alexis mumbled.
"Are you still with your boyfriend?" Carmen speaks up. Sweet innocent Carmen.
"Eh, no, we broke up the summer before I went to college." I said. Sparing her the details of our very messy breakup when I told him I was gay.
Carly continued scrolling through Netflix, pretending not to notice the tension. The girls settled on a movie, but I didn't even get a chance to look at the title.
I groaned, knowing I was outnumbered. "If I end up having nightmares, I'm blaming all of you."
"We'll take our chances," Reagan laughed, giving me a pat on the back.
