Following You

Someone you know?

Jenna's POV:

We arrive in Indiana after a long plane ride filled with restless energy and many rounds of spicy uno and cards against humanity.

The anticipation for our first game of the season away buzzes through the team, but right now, all I can think about is getting settled in our hotel room and preparing for tomorrow. The team is trying to relax and have some fun before the big game, and I'm determined to make the most of it for my first year on the team.

I know that I've already played with them in Colorado, but this is the real thing!

Finally, around five pm, we make it to the hotel in Terre Haute, Indiana where ISU is and we all scramble off the charter bus to grab our suitcases from below.

Once everyone has gathered their belongings off the bus, we head inside the hotel, all of us quickly grabbing our room keys and making our way to our rooms. I haven't really seen Alexis much at all today, except for the fact that she is walking about ten feet behind me right now as we head to the room.

I find room 306, and open the door for us both.
Usually, I like to take the bed closest to the window because the thought of sleeping next to the door has always made me uncomfortable for some reason.

"You can have window." Alexis mutters.

"You sure?" I ask hesitantly.

"Yup, I had it last time." She says plainly.

"Oh, okay." I say. I guess that makes sense, and I'm not complaining.

Alexis and I unpack in silence, the room filled with an awkward tension. Despite our recent improvements, we haven't talked much outside of practice. Granted, I have been extremely busy the last few days with my classwork and private trainings with the athletic trainer and assistant coach.

As soon as she finishes organizing her things, Alexis grabs her phone and heads out the door.

"I'm going to Carly's room," she says, not waiting for a response.

I nod, even though she's already gone, and let out a sigh. The silence she leaves behind is almost deafening. I look around the room, trying to shake off the awkwardness. It's time to get ready and have some fun.

The team and I found a club that we want to go to tonight, to celebrate our first game of the season and let loose a little.

And I may or may not have brought a couple outfits that made me wonder if Alexis would like them when I was picking them out.

Curse my intrusive thoughts.

I pull out my phone and send a quick text to Jade, Cheyenne, and Reagan, inviting them over to my room to get ready together. Within minutes, they're knocking on my door, their excited chatter already lifting my spirits.

"Hey, Jen Jen! It's been too long." Jade says, giving me a quick hug as she enters.

"We sat next to each other on the plane, Jade." I deadpan.

"Well I missed you anyway!" She defends.

Cheyenne and Reagan follow, both with grins plastered on their faces. "Ready to get sexy?" Reagan asks, holding up a bag full of makeup and accessories.

"Absolutely." I reply, my excitement building.

We spread out our things across the room, turning it into a mini dressing area. Dresses, skirts, and tops are laid out on the beds, while makeup and hair products cover the bathroom counter. The room fills with the sounds of laughter and music as we start getting ready.
