"Are you sure you'll be okay? I can move the appointment." Nik said as they stood in front of the club. He had a therapy session followed by physiotherapy scheduled for that day, which meant he had to leave Megan alone for the afternoon.
Megan smiled, feeling proud of the man standing in front of her. Nik was trying so hard: attending his therapy, taking his medication, and even trying out BDSM, all in an attempt to get better. And he was; Megan could already see the changes after only a month of the new regime.
Nik's skin was glowing, his eyes were clear and bright, and he didn't retreat into himself as often as he used to when things became too overwhelming. And he took to Subbing like fish to water, which had been a surprise since Nik was such a Dominant guy.
He would never be a true Submissive, and Megan didn't want him to be, feeling quite satisfied to Dom him when Nik needed her to and spend the rest of their time as the Submissive one. Another surprise, even bigger than Nik's, was the realization that she loved letting go of control, at least when it came to him.
"Don't be stupid. I'll be okay for one afternoon, Though I am not even sure if I need a bodyguard anymore, seeing as we haven't heard from Ashton since the police made him attend therapy. And, besides, you shouldn't miss your therapy; it's too important."
Nik nodded, smiling at her before he reached up with his hand and let it graze over Megan's. Megan stepped back at the contact, unsure why herself, before looking up to see Nik's face falling.
"I... I'm sorry."
"I know," Nik said, trying to smile, but it looked more like a grimace, making Megan feel horrible for hurting him before he climbed into his car and drove away.
Megan sighed, hating herself for being such a coward before she made her way into the club, Nik's absence by her side like a punch to the stomach.
"Hi, Meg!" Nura said as Megan stopped near the bar where the curlyhead was cleaning the glasses and preparing for the opening.
"Hey, Curly. What are you up to?"
"Nothing much. Nate's working a double shift, so I volunteered to come early and prepare the bar for tonight. I hate staying alone in the apartment." Nura said as she set the last glass in its place.
"Oh! I almost forgot! Something came for you just before you came in." she said as she turned around and pulled something from one of the shelves.
Megan blanched at the sight of pink paper, her ears buzzing as she took it when Nura offered it.
"Thank you," she whispered before turning around and all but running away to her office. She shut the door quickly, and as soon as she was alone, she all but tarred the envelope apart as she pulled out the letter.
Dear Mistress,
Why do you anger me so much? Why do you keep insisting on ignoring me?
I know what you did.
The police came to my home and brought me into questioning. Then they locked me up in a facility and forced me to stay there for a month, and all because of what you told them.
Why would you do that? Why would you hurt me so?
I know that you even hired a bodyguard, some German guy, who never leaves your side. I saw the two of you at the club.
Tell me, is he just that, or is he something more?
I noticed the way he looks at you; he loves you, I can tell. Do you love him?
