~ maeve ~

i noticed indigo throwing away the boba from the window. fustration built up within me causing me to slam hard against the diner table, making every piece of cutlery and cookery rattle. i fished out some money and slammed it on the table before making my way out. i knew everyone was staring at me harshly, but they wouldn't understand.

they wouldn't understand how much of a pain indigo perez is within my life. if i hadn't met her, maybe things would've been different than it is now.  if my own mother  hadn't left me in that psychopathic ward, aunt sarah wouldn't have gone through this.

for their sake and for my own misery, i need to put an end to this. an end to sharmarke mohamud and indigo perez. an end to my life as maeve heist.

i can't wait for a smile to plaster on my face when my heart stops beating, but i'll grin even wider when their hearts stop as well.

"love, calm down,"

indigo paces back and forth in my room as i try to soothe her. i never expected anything out of the ordinary to happen with maeve, but i was clearly mistaken. this situation is concerning, to say the least.

"sharky, i can't calm down. the fact that both of us could have died today is no joke. i need to call my mom," indigo reaches for her purse on my nightstand. i sit at the edge of my bed, my arms resting between my open legs. "how did you know the drinks were spiked?" i ask curiosly.

"i didn't." she calmly responds. i raise an eyebrow, "then how?" i turn my body towards her, still my arms in between my legs. "her face. every time i picked up the boba up, her face would light up as if she wanted to smirk or something."

there's a knock at my door before my mom enters with two bottles of water in her hands. she sits next to me after handing one to indigo, who proceeds to talk to her mother on the phone. "here, son," my mom says as i gulp down some water. "sharmarke, all of this is worrying me. why not call the police or get a protection order against her?"

i sigh. no matter how much i try convince indigo to involve the police or pressing charges, she doesn't listen. it's as if she wants to handle her own battles. i can't afford for anything to happen to her, especially right now. a lot has happened in our lives. she just started a new business, her nephew was born and i promised to marry her someday.

wouldn't it hurt a million times if she made it to that point in life where she has everything she's ever wanted, only for her to die because of a foolish friend? wouldn't it hurt to not have that someone you've always wanted?

i can't for afford anything to happen to her.

"mama, indigo won't listen to me, no matter how much i try to convince her," i say, feeling helpless. my mom wraps her small, warm hand around my cold one, her thumb rubbing the back of my hand. i notice the tears building in her eyes.

"i can't afford to lose you, both of you, at this point," she sniffs, a tear falling from her left eye. my heart feels uneasy whenever i see my mom cry like this. i hate to see her like this. "it's okay, mama. i will do my best." i reassure her.

the guys all come inside before my mom walks out and leaves us to talk. they all surround me, hugging me and sharing their empathy. indigo comes in, and everyone surrounds her, pulling her into a hug. we all sit around the table downstairs to discuss the issue. "you know, i should've killed that girl back at the beach," niko mutters angrily.

"calm down, niko," i pat his back and hand him some water. indigo shares all the information about what has been happening, including today. "what is wrong with this girl?" aj askes furious. "i don't know, but i don't like it," i manage to say. "come to think of it, the girl's target is you, sharky," chunks spits out.

i raise an eyebrow in confusion. "chunkz is right," indigo nods her head. i look at her, confused as to what they are talking about. my heart feels uneasy, and so does my body. "she wants you, sharky, and she will do anything to get rid of me to get to you," indigo's words break my heart. her face doesn't look surprised, but rather sad and gloomy.

"what?" chunkz nods, catching everyone's attention. "that girl has always liked you, and like indie said, she will do anything to get you." i get up and walk over to the sink. i have mixed feelings, sadness, anger, everything. i smash my hand against the window multiple times, causing it to crack and for my knuckles to bleed.

"sharky, stop!" everyone warns me. i lean against the wall, slowly sliding  myself down to the floor. tears fall from my eyes. everything is happening because indigo introduced me to that girl. everything is happening because indigo.

~ indigo ~

i stand at the back, niko holding onto me as the others check up on sharky. my heart pounds against my chest, threatening to burst out. my hands tremble as i cling onto niko for support. "you're to blame for this mess." i hear sharky say from where he is. my eyes dart trying to make sense of the chaos. "it's all your fault!" sharky almost charges at me but the guys stop him. tears well up in my eyes as i stumble to the floor, overwhelmed by the accusations.

"this is all because of you, indigo!" tears form around my eyes. my breathing becomes heqvy as i clutch my shirt into my fists. "if you hadn't introduced me to that filthy bitch, we wouldn't be going through this!" chunkz tries his best to push sharky away. niko helps me stand. "what is your problem, sharky?" niko scolds over at him. i push him away from me.

"no niko, he's right." i look down at my feet while letting the tears fall down. "what?" niko comes to my side but i move away. "it is my fault, everything..." i look up to look at sharky but the tears that well up in my eyes blur out my vision. "i'm sorry sharmarke, i wasn't good to you all this time. i deeply apologize."

~ third person ~

sharky calms down, chunkz letting him go but standing close to him just incase another random outburst decides to come out of nowhere. "maybe it's best if we... stay apart from each other."

indigo looks at the ring placed on her left hand then back at sharky who seems to be regretting his actions. indigo removes the ring and places it on the table before reaching for her jacket placed on the chair she was sitting on.

"don't follow me or i will kill you. all of you," she warns niko and the others before charging out of the house. sharky tries to go after her but the others stop him. "it's no use sharky." chunkz holds onto him once again, tears welling up his own eyes. the others surround him, all sharing the same pain with him.

indigo walks through the streets, mindset on as she heads somewhere where fate and destiny will choose her path for her.

life or death.
