Rainfrost's Destiny

Chapter 3

As she stood there, she could hear Badgerpaws worried mews. She blinked, being able to see again. 'What are we doing? ' she muttered. 'Battle training, but I want to see your skills. Brace yourself for battle. Claws sheathed! ' Snowstar yelled. Rainpaw nodded and glared at badgerpaw. She braced herself for a jump, badgerpaw ran towards her and she pounced landing on the Toms back. Badgerpaw fell over and she hopped off. Glaring at him. 'Cheater! ' he hissed, what? She stood in confusion. 'Im no cheater. ' she hissed springing her self on top of him again. He yelped. 'FOX! ' She stared in horror, there was no way she could make it in time, badgerpaw had broke free from her grasp and started running. She felt teeth dig into her skin, and she flailed her paws around wildly. Her vision blurring as Her 'attacker' hopped across stepping stones landing in the clearing she was dropped. 'Littlestorm? Come check on rainpaw. I think something is wrong with her. ' Snowstar hissed, what happened? Littlestorm led her to the medicine den.  'Snowstar says you tend to stop after a jump, and weirdly stare. ' Rainpaw nodded. 'My vision goes blurry after I jump, or get up to fast. ' she mewed. Littlestorm nodded. 'Can you try to get used to it? ' Littlestorm mew was calm and soft. 'I guess.. ' She nodded. Leaving the den and flicking her tail. 'Stormpaws alive! ' badgerpaw mewed happily bringing the grey apprentice to her. 'STORMPAW! ' She mewed happily. How did he survive? 'He was in a coma state I think.. '  Stormpaw stared at rainpaw, his fur waving in the wind.. She looked him in the eyes.. The sun reflected on them. Badgerpaw let out a low growl.. 'I.. I. Wanna go for a walk rainpaw? ' Stormpaw mewed. Rainpaw nodded and padded after him, their tails twinned together. She looked back to see badgerpaws glare resting on her, a look of jealously flooding through him, he hissed. Ignoring the strange reaction she felt stormpaw lean on her. 'Maybe we can train together. ' He suggested happily. She nodded. Smallpaw ran towards stormpaw, shoving rainpaw to the side. 'Why are you hanging out with her? ' He asked. 'Because... ' She couldn't hear what stormpaw was saying but smallpaw looked shocked. 'Ugh, whatever! ' smallpaw stomped off. Stormpaw ran to rainpaw happily. 'Sorry about that. ' he chuckled. She nodded.
Not knowing what to say. 'uhh.. I have training.. ' she newer, running back to the clearing, her paws skidded to a halt in front of claw storm. His massive paws stood on the ground. 'Training.. ' she whined. Claw storm led her to the river and taught her how to hunt fish, 'Hide your shadow.. If the fish see you then they won't come near.. You can normally see the fishes shadow in the water. Be quick to catch one, they are quite fast. ' Rainpaw nodded, bending down and glaring at the water, she noticed a shadow and grasped the scaly fish with her claws, lifting it out of the water. 'Couldve been better.. ' Clawstorm hissed. She had caughten one, why was he so rude? She scoffed and claw storm shot her a glare.. Weren't his eyes brown before..? She blinked and they returned back to normal. Shaking her head she padded after her mentor.  'No! ' clawstorm yelped shaking, what could scare clawstorm? Suddenly his fur began to peel off.. Fear lurked in her veins. She stared in horror as the once brown tom turned into a white shecat with blue eyes the colour of the sky and fur as white has snow. The realisation came to her. 'Swan?! ' she gasped, what was going on? Swan stared at Rainpaw. 'Rain..? ' She gasped. 'No.. No! ' Rain heard.. snowstar was coming. 'What are you doing here swan? ' He hissed, how did he know swan? 'Oh.. Snowstar I've missed you so. Thank the stars your here.. It's a long story I'll tell you later. ' she mewed softly. 'Follow me to camp, both of you. ' snowstar growled. It was already dusk, swan and snowstar had talked. She walked to her nest. Laying down and letting the darkness take her. She woke up as dawn glittered through the den. The sounds of new leaf gave her a shiver of happiness. She walked out of the den.  She could hear distant chattering, swan was becoming a part of the clan! It had been at least 2 moons since swan had came. Rainpaw had went to her first gathering. Yet somehow after what she had seen claw storm was back, meaner than ever. At least he trained her well, she had learned to block his attacks.  She stared at snowstar on the wet rock. 'All cats old enough to swim through the rapids please gather around for a clan meeting! ' Snowstar howled. 'I have come with a decision, and that is to welcome swan into this clan. As you all know the secret has been told already. And to welcome swan fully to this clan, I shall give her the warrior name she deserves. Swan please step up. ' Swan stepped up  her eyes gleaming with pride. 'On behalf of starclan and the warrior code, I name you swanfoot. You will be well respected for your courage and strength. ' He yelled. 'Clan dismissed' Snowstar spoke, walking off the wet rock and touching noses with swanfoot. Rainpaw glared, padding towards clawstorm. 'Hi... ' she muttered shyly. 'Ive spoke with Snowstar, you are to get your warriors assessment. I want you to catch... 1 fish and 2 land prey. ' Clawstorm mewed, allowing rainpaw to go off on her own. She quickly caught a fish and buried it. She crouched low to the ground, hoping to scent something. She saw a mouse nibbling on grass seeds, she kept her tail low and padded towards the mouse. Just as she was about to pounce, a hawk came soaring down grasping it's claws onto the mouse. 'Not my prey you don't! ' she hissed, springing herself onto the hawk and clawing at its wings, the hawk shrieked and tryed to fly off, but the weight of her body on its back stopped it. She grabbed its neck with her teeth, twisting it. She heard a crack and the hawk fell limp. Clawstorm and snowstar came out from hiding, eyes wide with shock. 'I.. Woah! ' badgerpaw mewed in the distance. She glanced proudly at her mentor who gave a small nod of respect. 'Carry your prey back, when the others have finished will let the ceremony begin. '  Rainpaw nodded, snowstar grabbed the hawk and clawstorm dug up the fish. She grabbed the mouse and padded back to camp, dropping her prey in the pile. She could feel cats watching her. 'Go listen to the elders for a story. ' Clawstorm mewed. She nodded walking over to the elders den. 'Oh! Hello rainpaw. ' Mumblefur mewed. 'I haven't gotten stories to tell, how about you visit the nursery? ' Rainpaw nodded, padding over to the nursery. She looked at robinfur, who's tail was carefully wrapped over Tanglekit and Oddkit. She had no care for the cats in the nursery, sighing she walked to the clearing. Both cars were back. Snowstar hopped up onto the High Rock. 'All cats old enough to swim through the rapids please gather around for a clan meeting! ' the tom howled. His gaze flickering across the clan as cats began to circle the wet rock. Rainpaws eyes gleamed with excitement. '4 apprentices have passed their warriors assessment. They have proved their skill. ' He coughed. 'These apprentices have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and before you I present to you new riverclan warriors. Rainpaw will be known has Rainfrost, star clan honours her bravery and strength, Badgerpaw will be known has badger frost, star clan honours his courage. Smallpaw will be known has Small stripe, star clan honours his strength. Storm paw will be known has storm foot, star clan honours his speed. ' Snowstar gasped. 'Clan dismissed. ' he hopped off the wet rock. Rainfrost stared. Padding over to badgerfrost. 'Hey... ' badgerfrost mewed, the way he looked at her.. Made her purr. She turned away. 'I.. Uh' She couldn't make an excuse so she walked away. Something told her trouble was coming. Claw storm had sent out pattols, leaving her bored.  She turned back to badgerfrost running towards him. 'Its moon high, we must start the vigil.. ' she mewed. Badgerfrost nodded following her to camp entrance, the others were already there. It was boring sitting there all night. She could feel her body practically falling onto her paws.
