Rainfrost's Destiny

Chapter 8

She ran to the clearing, her mother already huddled over the white tomes body. 'No! ' She screamed rushing over to her fathers body. Lifeless and cold. 'H-How... ' She gasped. 'Wounds.. He died of wounds. ' Little storm dipped his head. She rested her head on the lifeless body of her father, unable to process what had just happened. 'Rainfrosts our leader now! ' A cat mewed, realising her new power she  jumped up onto the wet rock. Raising her voice. 'All cats old enough to swim please gather around for a clan meeting! ' She howled, her fur bristling. 'Snowstar is dead. I am now the leader and it is my duty to pronounce a new deputy. ' She yelled. 'Sweetberry, is it your wish to serve riverclan as deputy? ' She asked, sweetberry nodded
 'Yes.' The tortoiseshell she responded. 'Very well than, I say these words before star clan so that our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice, the new deputy of riverclan is Sweetberry! ' She yelled, her clan began to chant. 'Sweetberry! ' The new deputy's name rang across the clan. Echoing through the air. 'I will be journeying to the Moonstone soon. Sweetberry will watch over the clan. clan dismissed! ' She called, hopping off the wet rock and padding to the medicine den. She entered through the brambles. Tangle whisker was already getting traveling herbs. 'Littlestorm is to old to make the journey to the Moonstone. ' He mumbled, the young tom seemed paranoid and always spooked by small things. She nodded and ate her bundle of traveling herbs wincing at the awful taste.  'We will start the journey now. ' Tangle whisker informed her has the two began to walk to camp entrance. 'Starclan be with you! ' Her mate hollored. She dipped her head to her clan before hopping across stepping stones and sitting down waiting for tangle whisker to follow. After he hopped across they walked towards the bridge. The two remained silent. They crossed the bridge with no words and walked along wind clan territory. Soon being stopped by a patrol, she shrieked as a large black tom jumped onto her. 'How dare you trespass! ' he growled. 'You have to let us pass, we are heading to the Moonstone! ' She hissed. The tom shook his head. 'You must, refraining a new leader from heading to the Moonstone would surely upset star clan, if you do not get your paws off of her, you'll be stuck in the place of no stars. 'Tanglewhisker growled. The tom nodded and hopped off Rainfrost. Letting them leave. She stopped at the thunder path. 'Now! ' She howled racing across the path. Tangle whisker followed closely behind and she let out a sigh as she reached the other side. 'Were close now, but we should hunt than rest because we still have time left before moo high. She nodded padding off into the grass and opening her mouth to taste the air. She smelled a small vole and crouched down staring st the small brown furry bundle nibbling on seeds, she slowly crawled toward it  then catching it with a swift pounce. She dug her teeth into it giving it a killing bite, she then walked back to tangle whisker and they shared the vole. The two sat together for awhile watching as the sun set. He then gave her a brisk nod, leading her to mother mouth. 'Once we get inside we mustnt speak. ' He warned her.  She nodded walking up the dark tunnel until she reached the crystal, it shown brightly in the sun. She touched it with her nose, she than blinked open her eyes, a group of cats standing in front of her. She looked around, recognising the grey pelt. 'Stormfoot! ' she yelled, stormfoot walked up to her. 'With this life I give you love, to love all the cats in the clan as if their your kit. ' He mewed softly, as he touched her nose a jolt of pain shot through her. How could she do this 8 more times? Willowfur padded up to her. The white and blue she cats fur was smooth and well kept. 'I-im sorry your apprentice turned out to be such a bad cat.. ' She gulped. 'With this life I give your strength. Use it to defend your clan in the greatest of fights.. ' willowfur mewed, touching noses with her sending another jolt of pain. A strange  Cat walked up, 'Im flaretail. ' The shecat mewed softly. 'Ive heard of you! You saved the clans many moons ago from the storm of badgers.. The elders told me. 'Rainfrost gasped. Flaretail nodded. 'With this life, I give you bravery. Use it well to lead your clan with no fear. ' The shecat mewed. Touching noses with Rainfrost. Flaretail walked away. Little storm walked up, fear sprang in her eyes as she realised the tom must be dead. 'With this life I give you healing, use it well to help your clan mates during times of danger.' The once old tom looked young. He touches noses with her and she winced in pain. A brown tabby shecat walked up to her. 'Im Kestrelwing, Flare tails mother. I was the oldest cat in my clan though I refused to retire. Leading to my death. With this life I give you knowledge. Use it well during tough decisions. ' The shecat touched her nose, this time their was no pain. Another blast of fear shot through her as she realised what cat was walking up, Bird tail! Sweetberrys apprentice. 'With this life, I give you.. Compassion. ' The time stepped away without finishing his sentence. A black and white shecat stepped up. 'Im swanfoot, the cat your mother was named after. I helped her mother raise her when she was a kit. I'm also Kestrelwings mother. ' The she padded closer to Rainfrost. 'With this life, I give you honor. Use it well to serve your clan mates. ' She gasped as another flash of pain shot through her, than her father stepped up. 'With this life.. I give you loyalty. Use it well to help your clan. With this final life I grant you as Rainstar. Leader of riverclan. ' He mewed. She woke up and stared at the Moonstone. tangle whisker led her out of the tunnel and the two made the journey home. They once again crosses the thunder path. Tanglewhisker held his head low.  They walked silently back home. The cats had already fixed up a new best and buryed the dead cats. Sweetberry ran up to her greeting her friend with happiness. 'Thank star clan your back! I was getting worried! ' Sweetberry mewed, rubbing her fur onto Rainstar. 'Rainstar! ' Her clan yowled in praise. She looked across the clan, her eyes shining with joy. She turned to badgerfrost. He hadn't greeted her like sweetberry did. She ran to him. 'Badgerfrost! ' She mewed happily. 'Go away, I can't talk to a murder.. ' He hissed, she looked at him with rounded eyes. 'What do you mean? ' She mewed. 'You know, killing Small whisker.. Clawstorm and a few rogues! You also killed cloud kit. ' He spat. Her heart sank. 'C-Cloudkits dead?' She gasped, tears began to fill her eyes, dripping onto the ground. 'Dont act surprised... I know what you did. Plus cloud kits not dead exactly. Harmed. ' Her mate hissed. 'I killed the rogues as a defense, and small whisker tried to kill me first! What was I supposed to do let him?  Plus cloud kit was fine when I left! How could I have hurt him if I was gone? You can ask Tanglewhisker. He was with me the whole time. Your always so quick to blame without thinking first! I shouldn't have forgiven you when Small whisker lied. Cause your just gonna believe more! ' She hissed, her fur bristling with anger. 'Sorry... ' He mewed. 'Its always been sorry, but your just gonna do it again and again! I just got back from the Moonstone, even my own friend cares about me more than you ! Half the time you act like I don't exist. Sometimes you make me wish I chose Stormfoot instead. ' She spat, Badger frost stared at her in shock, and a gleam of regret shimmered in his eyes. 'I-Im sorry.. I shouldn't be so quick to blame. I understand if you don't forgive me. ' He dipped his head and left, her fur bristles with anger as she watched him leave. Rainstar dug her claws into the ground, Sweetberry had sent out patrols. She had forgotten to join one! She hissed in pure annoyance. Padding off to her new  den and curling up.  She let out a yawn and allowed the darkness to overcome her.
