Rainfrost's Destiny

Chapter 9

Rainstar strolled by the twoleg dens, why was she doing this again? Her mind was to ruffled to remember. She glanced over, a young kittypet was staring at her a look of strangeness in her eyes. She twitched her tail curiously. 'Eh?' She mumbled, unsure of what was happening. She took a better look at the kittypet, a she-cat. She didn't seem to be walking properly and Rainstar casted a glance of concern. 'Are you- Okay?' She asked, a hint of worry glimmered in her eyes, the Kittypet just stood there staring. She felt a rush of anxiety, what was going on? The Kittypet began moving towards her and she stepped back, she felt her paws loosen and realized. She let out a shriek as she began to fall.. Did the floor just collapse beneath her? She yowled, she didn't want to die! Her heart began to beat rapidly she quickly twisted her body in hopes of landing on her four paws, but a look  of horror flashed on her face as she realized what was below her.

She opened her eyes as soft flickers of dawn flew into her den. Her mind still rumbling, what was that? She should tell Littlestorm. She rose to her paws shakily, her legs aching as if she had been walking for moons. She was the leader of Riverclan for StarClans sake! Why was she so scared? She glanced around worried at her clan, Her deputy Sweetberry raced towards her. 'Rainfrost! Err I mean Rainstar!' She called. She twisted her head in confusion. 'Not now Sweetberry, I need to tell Littlestorm something.  '                                                                                                                               'Its important.' Sweetberry spat. 'Fine, spit it out.' Rainstar mewed. 'Okay, you woke up late, I sent patrols already but just a few moments ago Ivyfrost reported something. SERIOUS!'Sweetberry huffed, a look of horror glimmering in her eyes. 'Ivyfrost reported seeing a pale brownish grey tabby shecat  near the twolegplace with a like foam surrounding her mouth.' Rainfrost gasped, her eyes widening with horror. 'Thats the cat I saw in my dream!' She yelled, fear splintering her brain. 'What vision?' Sweetberry tilted her head. 'Not now, I need to speak to Littlestorm- This is important!' She raced to Littlestorm, her heart skipping a beat as she felt anxiety take over her. 'LITTLESTORM!' She yelled, her voice littered with horror. Littlestorm jumped. 'What is it? I haven't seen you this horrified in moons!'The greying tom respond, a look of worry flickered onto the old toms face. 'You know what you told me when I was a kit right?' She mewed. 'I can barely remember anything I told you when you were a kit.' Littlestorm let out a purr of amusement, but his amusement soon faded as Rainstar spoke again. 'Okay, you know that story you told me about a disease that causes foaming arounds a cats mouth and causes them to like go insane or something? You told me it was a story passed down to medicine cats incase it happens again.' Littlestorms eyes widened. 'What.' He gasped. She began explaining again before being cut off. 'I heard you- it's just.. What.' He mewed. She let out a brisk nod. 'Ivyfrost saw a cat like that..' She mumbled. 'From what I know, theres no cure. We jsut have to pray to starclan we'll be safe. Whatever you do, do not let the infected cat near the clan.' Littlestorm mewed. 'Okay, I'll follow your word. But I need to do something, tell Sweetberry that shes in charge of the clan for now. Actually, I want her to come with me, I know its alot but I need you and Tanglewhisker to take over the clan, for now.' Rainstar mewed, Littlestorm nodded. 'Very well.' She walked off. 'Sweetberry!' She called. How would she say this? 'Uhm, we have to go something, out of the clan for a few days or more. it's important, Stormf- Littlestorm and Tanglewhisker will take over the clan for now.' She mewed. 'Alright, I wont argue with you Rainstar.' Sweetberrys eyes glimmered. She glanced at Sweetberry. it felt her own friend cared about her more than her mate... Buy why? Sweetberry stared at Rainstar and Rainstar looked back at her, noticing her round green eyes.. She shook her head with a muffled sigh. Littlestorm raced over with a huff. 'Traveling herbs.' He dropped a bundle infront of the two cats. She grasped her teeth onto her bundle and ate it, holding back from spitting it out. The taste was horrible. After she finished she stuck her tongue out like a kit. 'Icky!' She mewed. Sweetberry chuckled. Rainstars eyes glimmered with admiration, Sweetberry had such soft.. silky fur. 'Rainstar!'  Badgerfrost called. She looked back, she didn't seem to love that cat anymore.. 'What?' She responded. 'I just wanted to say bye, and I love you!' Badgerfrost mewed. 'Oh yeah.. Erm I love you to!' Rainstar mewed, unsure about her feelings. Badgerfrost stared at her, a glint of worry in his eyes.  She turned around and signalled Sweetberry to follow her. 'You've fallen out of love have you?' Sweetberry mewed. 'Yeah.' Rainstar responded. 'Oh... YES!' Sweetberry mewed, rainstar tilted her head. 'Oh- uhm I'm saying yes because I knew you two weren't right for each other. It was such a toxic relationship!' Sweetberry responded nervously.'Okay..' Rainstar mewed. 'Are you gonna break up with him soon?' Sweetberry mewed. 'I'll do it when we get back.' Rainstar mewed. 'Theres no telling wether will make it back or not, tell him now.' Sweetberry mewed. 'Hmm, I suppose. I'll be right back.' Rainstar mewed, racing off the badgerfrost. 'Badgerfrost!' She huffed. Badgerfrost turned around, looking irritated. 'What is it?' He spat. 'Uhm...' She shuffled her paws nervously, how would she say this? 'I'm sorry.. I-I just don't love you anymore... I'm sorry.. I-I just...' She sniffled. Badgerfrost gave a look of horror. 'Its... over then?' He gasped. 'Y-yes.. I'm sorry.' She mewed, glancing at the ground. She quickly turned, not wanting to see the sadness on her former mates face she raced to Sweetberry with a sigh of relief. 'Finally its over.'  Rainstar mewed. 'Yeah.' Sweetberry responded, her voice carried through the wind beautifully. 'I love you..' Rainstar mumbled. Sweetberry glanced over, a flicker of hope in her eyes. 'What?' Sweetberry mewed. 'N-nothing..' Rainstar mumbled. 'Where are we headed anyways?' Sweetberry asked. 'Twoleg  place.' Rainstar spat. 'OKAY!' Sweetberry mewed. Why was she so excited? Oh! 'Perhaps you'll see some old friends, and I suppose you know the way there better then me?' Rainstar mewed. 'Yea, follow me!' Sweetberry ran and Rainstar tumbled after her the wind rushing through her fur. She halted suddenly her eyes widening. 'SWEETBERRY!' She called grabbing on to her friends tail and stopping her. 'ACK-' Sweetberry mewed. 'Stay still..' Rainstar mewed, letting go of sweetberrys tail and walking infront of her. 'Look.' She pointed, Sweetberrys shocked gaze turned infront of her and she mumbled a few swears. 'Theres a hole.' Rainstar mewed. 'T-thanks.' Sweetberry gasped. 'In the middle of a thunderpath to.. thats strange. Why were you so eager to run across a thunderpath anyways?' Rainstar mewed. 'This thunderpath was like, Never busy. Monsters go on it like once every few sunrises.' Sweetberry responded. 'Oh, ALRIGHT.' Rainstar nodded, the two walked around the hole. 'This is the place in my vision..' Rainstar mewed. 'Also was this hole there before?' Rainstar asked. 'Nope.' Sweetberry responded, a look of horror in her eyes. 'It stinks, like.. death.' Rainstar peered in the hole and jumped back in shock. Her eyes widened. 'What?' Sweetberry mewed. 'Theres.. dead cats.. of the rogues that were killed in the fight and STORMFOOT!' She cried. 'S-stormfoot?' Sweetberry mewed in shock, looking in the hole to. Suddenly they looked back the cat she had seen in ehr vision stood there. 'Cloudmouth.' Sweetberry gasped. 'I thought the twolegs got rid of all the cloudmouth cats!' Sweetberry spat. 'Oh my stars... RUN!'
