Rainfrost's Destiny

Chapter 4

Rainfrost awoke in her den, 8 sunrises had past since she had her warrior ceremony. She had become badgerfrosts mate but she noticed Stormfoots look of jealousy, she knew he liked her and she wished they could stay friends but he refused to talk to her. She watched Badgerfrosts fur as it rose and fell in rhythm with his breathing. Snowstar had strangely given her an apprentice. Pinkpaw. She slowly stood up, her muscles stuff from the battle training with pinkpaw, that apprentice learned quickly. She rose to her paws and stretched out her front legs, lifting her haunches before padding to the clearing were pinkpaw was waiting for her. 'Come on pinkpaw, we have a full day of training ahead of us. ' Rainfrost mewed. 'Okay! I'm gonna train to be the bestest- best warrior ever!! An-and elders will tell stories about me to kits! I'll be stronger then all the clans combined! ' Pinkpaw mewed cheerfully. 'Well will see about that. ' Rainfrost mewed back, touching her nose to Pinkpaws head. She led her apprentice to the river. 'Would you like to learn how to catch.. Land prey today? ' Her apprentices eyes shined. 'Yes yes yes! ' pinkpaw shouted. She sighed. 'Well, you have to be quiet, but will hope the prey didn't hear you, alright copy what I do. ' Pinkpaw nodded. Rainfrost dropped into a crouch. Her tail swaying neatly above the grass carefull not to startle anything, Pinkpaw copied her. 'You see that vole? I want you to creep up on it and pounce like oddpaw did yesterday. ' Pinkpaw nodded, crawling towards the vole, before leaping into the air and landing with her paws on the vole. She gave the vole a killing bite. Rainfrost watched has her apprentice proudly carried the vole to her. 'Good, good! ' She mewed proudly.  'Bury it and get it later. We will do some battle training. ' Pinkpaw quickly buried her vole and followed Rainfrost to an abandoned fox den. 'Alright, I want you to learn how to fight in a closed space, use the amount of room you have to your advantage. ' Rainfrost mewed, Pinkpaw nodded and padded towards the corner. 'Claws seathed, but try to follow your instincts. It'll help. ' Rainfrost sprang at Pinkpaw and Pinkpaw quickly ducked and slid away, bracing herself and pouncing out of the den, being on higher ground she took rainfrost by surprise and knocked her over. Rainfrost eyes widened in shock, how was her apprentice this good? 'Wow! That was great Pinkpaw. But remember to be aware of your surroundings. The way your slid could've ended badly, you almost hit a rock. ' Rainfrost meowed proudly. Pinkpaw nodded. 'Will head back to camp now, grab your vole please. ' Rainfrost watched proudly as Pinkpaw rushed ahead to grab her vole, she walked towards camp her apprentice trailing neatly behind her. Her tail quivered with excitement at the thought of seeing badgerfrost. She hopped across stepping stones turning around and waiting for Pinkpaw to cross to. After her apprentice crossed she headed to the clearing, making sure all elders and kits had been fed she then grabbed a squirrel and padded over to badgerfrost. 'Want to share this with me? ' Badgerfrost nodded, a purr rumbled in her throat and she bit into the squirrels fuzzy skin, she chewed her price and ate it. Badgerfrost had finished to. His fur shined brightly, and she couldn't help but look him in the eyes, he was all she wanted and he loved her to, he purred as he striked a glare at her and she rubbed her chin against his. 'I love you.. ' she mewed softly. 'I love you to.. ' He responded, the softness in his voice made her tail quiver. She couldn't think of a life without him, she hoped they'd have kits one day and be with each other forever. The thought of him leaving her was scary, but she pushed it away. Nudging her mate happily. 'Your training Pinkpaw very well, the only other apprentice I've seen learn that fast was you. I'm glad snowstar chose you as her mentor. ' Badgerfrost mewed. 'Oh thank you! I'm glad Snowstar chose me as her mentor to! I never imagined having an apprentice would bring me such joy! It's even better having you by my side, great starclan I cant imagine what life would be like without you! ' She purred and badgerfrost nodded. 'We should head to our nests now, it's moon high and most cats are already asleep. ' Badgerfrost mewed, everything he said made her happy, he was so brave.. So smart! 'Ok, we will head to sleep now. ' she trailed after him and layed next to him, his fur brushing against hers as the two fell asleep together. She woke up early, it had been 2 seasons since she got her apprentice, pinkpaw who was now Pinkfoot. Her ears perked has she heard a yowl coming from outside camp. Confused, she ran over. She quickly hopped across stepping stones letting a gasp of alarm as she saw clawstorm attacking snowstar. Growling she sprang at her former mentor biting down hard into his neck. He quickly turned her over and scratched her eye, ignoring the pain she pounced at him again. Her claws digging into his throat. She then ripped off some of his skin with her teeth. He fell limp. She hopped off of him, he was alive.. Just harmed. Gasping he stood up and ran. She glares at snowstar who had managed to get up. 'Lets.. Head to camp. ' he gasped. She nodded and followed him to the medicine den. Littlestorm stared in shock. 'Tanglepaw, fetch me some dock! ' Littlestorm yelled. 'Oh starclan what happened? ' He yelped. 'Clawstorm attacked snowstar.. I came to save snowstar. ' Rainfrost mewed. 'Clawstorm ran away.. ' Littlestorm stood there with a look of surprise on his face before grabbing some dock from his apprentice. 'You dress snowstars wounds, I'll get rainfrosts. ' He mewed. Tanglepaw nodded and began to dress Snowstars wounds. After they had their wounds covered they left the den. 'I need to do a meeting.. ' Snowstar hopped up onto the wet rock, opening his mouth . 'All cats old enough to swim through the rapids please gather around for a clan meeting! ' Snowstar howled, as warriors began to circle around the wet rock he spoke again. 'I have news, Clawstorm attacked me. If it weren't for rainfrost I probably would've died. If clawstorm is spotted in territory you may attack him as he is exiled. ' Snowstar spoke again. 'Rainfrost, step up. ' Rainfrost stepped up, confused. 'Do you wish to follow in my paw steps and take over the role that is now empty as deputy of riverclan? ' Snowstar mewed. Her face lit up. 'I do! '  She mewed happily. 'Very well then, I snowstar say these words before our warrior ancestors so they may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of riverclan is Rainfrost! ' Snowstar yowled. 'Rainfrost! Rainfrost! ' her clan mates cheered, she was so young yet she had become deputy! 'Clan dismissed. ' Snowstar hopped off the wet rock touching noses with rainfrost before heading to his den.
Rainfrost began to speak. 'All cats old enlightenment to hunt please gather around for dawn patrols! ' Warriors gathered around her. 'Pinkfoot, I want you to lead a border patrol with Odd bush and feather foot. Stormfoot lead a hunting patrol with smallwhisker and badger frost. All other cats please clean out nests. Patrols may leave now. ' Rainfrost mewed, walking over to her nest tired, Littlestorm had told her to rest. So she did. She curled up by herself and closed her eyes falling into a sleep. She woke up, but not in a normal place. 'Is this starclan..? ' she asked. A starry warrior walked up to her. 'Yes my dear, we come to your with a message for all clans. ' The starclan warrior meowed. 'What? Why me and not littlestorm? I'm just a deputy for starclans sake! I'm not even clan born. ' she hissed. 'Do not harm yourself with those words, Though the storm of Claws Is now missing a shadow still looms. It's building it's strength and waiting for the time to strike. It's up to you to stop it. You and the fox, pigeon and hail will be reunited. Meet at four trees tonight and you will find what is waiting. ' The starry warrior began to drift away. 'WAIT! NO COME BACK TELL ME WHAT YOU MEAN! ' She yowled, but the warrior was already gone. Leaving her alone and confused. Time had passed and she had sent out dusk patrols.
