deep shit !luke hughes was a busy person.
he almost didn't have any time to do anything. always busy with games, training, or things that had to do with hockey.
which meant he took every opportunity he got to sleep.
so the moment his phone started ringing, he groaned and ignored it, hoping it wouldn't be too important. the phone vibrated for a bit until it eventually stopped.
he sighed and got comfortable again, falling asleep quickly until it rang once more.
with a groan he grabbed his phone and through squinted eyes saw lexie's contact name.
he furrowed his brows and quickly answered, catching the time on his bedside clock and seeing it was three am.
"lex? you okay?" he asked immediately upon answering with his scratchy voice full of sleep and his brows furrowed in concern as to why she was calling so late.
"hi. i know it's late but-"
"hey, it's okay. what happened?" he asked softly, alertness dripping from his voice as soon as he heard her voice, so he tried to blink away his sleep to focus on her.
"trevor was saying so much shit, luke. he started yelling and calling me things for no reason. he got all mad for the alex thing, which happened years ago! he knows nothing has happened since then and he still is so bothered by it!" lexie rambled, still in disbelief of the whole situation. though luke, the moment he heard alex's name, got a weird feeling in his chest.
in any similar situation like this, the first person she would've called to comfort her would've been her brother. but he was the one to put her in this position.
she had left and drove to a nearby walmart parking lot, parking there to just breakdown in the confines of her car and luke's voice going through her car speakers, soothing her ever so slightly.
"what did he say?" he prodded as he slowly sat up, rubbing the back of his head in tiredness but he was willing to ignore it to be there for her. luke knew the zegras' sibling didn't fight, it was the one thing everyone knew, so for him to hear about all the stuff trevor had said was surprising. most of all because he had disrespected her, no matter how small the comment had been. the disrespect was there.
"said i slept with alex just to get back at him, which didn't even cross my head at the time! i was sixteen! not fucking ten! he lost his virginity when he was thirteen, why is it such a big deal for me?" she asked retorically as she leaned her head on the steering wheel, closing her eyes tightly to prevent tears from falling.
luke frowned in concern, and maybe bitterness, at hearing how badly she was feeling, which was no surprise really "lex, okay. calm down. are you in your apartment?"
