"how's rehearsals going?" cole asked calmly as he propped his phone against a bowl on his counter, eating his sandwich that he had meticulously made.

"uh, it's going" lexie replied distractedly, rubbing the middle of her chest absentmindedly as she looked elsewhere.

she had just gotten home from a long day. in fact, she had cut the day short cause she started to feel weird physically. there had been this uncomfortable feeling growing on her chest since she woke up.

she wrote it down as exhaustion. she had been working pretty hard this couple weeks, paired with the stress, so she didn't worry too much.

"what's up?" cole asked with furrowed brows, silently trying to gauge her expression. she was uncharacteristically distracted and for a moment he thought maybe she was sleepy but if she was she wouldn't have that worry swimming in her eyes.

"nothing, i'm just tired. it's so hot in here, god" she groaned as she hastily stood up to open a window, stupidly enough.

subconsciously, she had a feeling of what may be happening but she shook it off. it had never happened to her, not when she was diagnosed and not when she had mishaps with her medication. it had no reason to happen to her right now.

"you sure you're okay?" cole asked worriedly, honestly seconds away from calling trevor in a move of pure concern.

"yeah, how was your game last night?" she smiled reassuringly as she sat back down on the couch, leaning her arms on her legs, but her smile looked more unnerving than anything.

still, though apprehensive, cole went on and on about the game, his teammates, the refs, all while completely unaware of lexie's rapidly moving chest.

she wasn't even sure what was happening. she was calm, her life was going well, she wasn't anxious or overworking herself, she was good.

but before she knew it, her phone had fallen from her grasp and her body fell to the floor with a thump.

"lexie!"

she felt as if she was dying. she couldn't utter a word, she couldn't breathe, her chest hurt worse than anything and she was shaking. she could hear cole vaguely on the background but she couldn't physically respond.

"alexandra! fuck! i'm gonna call an ambulance, okay? it's okay, it's okay i'm here"

she felt like she was floating, her world was dizzy and breathing was getting more difficult by the second.

in some sort of haze, she realized what was happening. an asthma attack. but it was too late for her to do anything.

she was gasping for breath loudly, tears falling from her eyes in desperation as she clawed at her chest.
