The Black Lake glowed under the moonlight at Hogwarts as the surface of the waters rippled gently. Moonbeams danced upon the lake's surface and the tall trees surrounding the lake rustled softly due to the light cold breeze. A boy with piercing green eyes stared intently into the depths of the waters, his mind filled with overwhelming thoughts that just didn't seem to stop. The cold breeze played with the boy's untamed jet-black hair as he stood by the water's edges.

It has been 6 months since the war ended and people could not be more happier. The depressing aurora that once surrounded the atmosphere seemed to have vanished as soon as the boy who lived had defeated the dark lord and slowly people started returning to their normal routine as if nothing had ever happened. Yes, there were moments of sadness and grief as many people lost their loved ones during the war but everyone seemed to move on with their life in hopes of having a brighter future. Everyone expects the savior himself.

A soft sigh escaped Harry's mouth. He frowned sadly as he stood alone with his thoughts in the darkness. The night was cold and goosebumps covered the petite boy's body, yet Harry continued gazing at the dark waters of the Black Lake.

All the students who weren't able to finish their 7th year, including Harry, were invited back to Hogwarts to finish their education as 8th years and graduate. When Harry received his letter asking whether he would like to join for his 8th year he hesitantly agreed thinking it would give his life a bit of normalcy as others said it would but he soon realized that no matter what he did, his life would never be as it was before. He will never have a normal life, not that he ever had one to begin with.

Coming to Hogwarts took a huge toll on Harry as every day he is constantly reminded of the lives that were lost during the battle, the lives that were lost because of him. Harry felt his eyes brim with tears as he thought of the people who had died. He thought of his godfather, Sirius, who had died due to his recklessness. He thought about Remus and Tonks, who had recently gotten married and hadn't gotten to watch their beautiful baby boy Teddy grow up. He thought about his godson, Teddy, and how he had never gotten a chance to know his wonderful parents. He thought about Fred and how his twin had to live a life without his other half. He thought of Snape, whom he never got a chance to thank. Dumbledore, Colin, Lavender, Mad-Eye Moody, Cedric, Hedwig, Dobby.... all these people had died because of him.

Voldemort's voice rang through Harry's head as he thought about the day of the war.

"I know that you are preparing to fight. Your efforts are futile. You cannot fight me. I do not want to kill you. I have great respect for the teachers of Hogwarts. I do not want to spill magical blood. Give me Harry Potter, and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded. You have until midnight."

Maybe.. just maybe if he had gone When Voldemort had called him the people who had died would be alive right now but they weren't and Harry blamed himself for it. Anyone who looked at Harry could tell that he was not the boy he used to be. His body was thin and his clothes hung loosely on his body as he refused to eat. Every time the boy tried to eat, images of the dead bodies lined up in the Great Hall during the night of the war flashed in his mind, causing him to throw up the little food he ate. Soon enough he stopped eating as a whole and avoided going into the Great Hall unless he had to. He had dark circles under his eyes due to the lack of sleep he got. Nightmares haunt him in his sleep making Harry afraid to fall asleep. Even dreamless potions don't help the boy so he would just wait until his roommates drifted to sleep and sneak outside of the castle to gaze at the lake and the night sky.

No one, not even his best friends Ron and Hermione, noticed Harry struggling as he was excellent at hiding it. He used a glamour charm to hide the dark circles under his eyes and plastered a fake smile on his face all day. He put up a silencing charm around his bed so his roommates wouldn't know if he ever woke up screaming due to a nightmare or as he sobbed daily wishing to disappear from the world. He made everyone around him believe that he had eaten by either telling them he had already eaten or that he would eat later. Even when someone tried asking him how he was doing, they would get the same answer every time: "I'm fine." Soon everyone stopped asking the boy how he was as they truly believed he was alright.

Harry was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't hear the footsteps approaching him.

"Potter?" a familiar voice said behind Harry, making the boy freeze.

He slowly turned around to find a pair of stormy grey eyes staring at him. Darco Malfoy stood before him waiting for the shorter boy to reply. Harry looked into Draco's eyes which were filled with curiosity and... concern?
