Harry stood still taking labored breaths completely unaware of his surroundings while Draco stood beside him trying to console him. Draco tried his best to stay calm but internally he was panicking as well. The blonde placed Harry's hand on his chest and held his other hand tightly, trying to ground the smaller boy. Draco breathed a sigh of relief as Harry finally raised his head to look at the taller boy. Harry gripped Draco's hand tightly as a few tears fell from his eyes.

"I-I... I don't wanna go.. I-I can't... It's my fault.." Harry stuttered out as he tried to breathe normally. Draco stared at Harry in confusion as he had no idea what Harry was talking about.

"The great hall? You don't want to go inside and eat?" Draco asked gently as he rubbed soothing circles around Harry's knuckles. The raven-haired boy nodded his head mutely making Draco frown. "Harry... I don't understand why you're so hesitant to come inside but you have to eat..." Draco continued softly. Harry shook his head causing the blonde to sigh. "Please love..."

"How can I go inside and eat happily when so many people died in there because of me?" Harry thought to himself as he stared at Draco with teary eyes. Harry's breath was still erratic making Draco frown with concern.

"Hey, it's okay... just breathe with me, alright?" Draco instructed softly. The blonde began to take deep, measured breaths while Harry tried his best to follow suit. Harry soon found himself breathing steadily and slowly wiped away the stray tears on his face.

"I-I'm sorry... I've been crying so much since yesterday a-and I'm probably being annoying and wasting your time." Harry mumbled quietly as he stared at the floor. Draco squeezed Harry's hand reassuringly chuckling lightly.

"You're not annoying, love and you could never waste my time... you aren't forcing me to be with you right now, I'm doing it because want to and because I care about you." Draco said softly trying to catch Harry's eyes. Draco gave him a small encouraging smile when Harry finally glanced up at the blonde. "You don't have to apologize for how you feel. I might not understand what you're going through and you don't have to tell me about it right now but just know that whatever you're feeling is valid, okay?" Draco continued sincerely.

Harry bit his lip, his mind racing with guilt and pain. The memories of the battle, the screams, and the sight of those who died haunted him daily. He felt unworthy of any happiness and the simple act of eating in the Great Hall where so much tragedy had occurred made him feel sick but he couldn't voice these thoughts out to the blonde. He didn't want to burden Draco more than he already has so far.

Draco tilted his head, searching Harry's face for clues but the smaller boy stood still looking emotionless. The blonde laid his hand on Harry's shoulder snapping him out of his thoughts. Draco's fingers gently tightened on Harry's shoulder, pulling him slightly closer.

"Let's take it one step at a time, alright?" Draco murmured as he brushed a few pieces of hair that covered the smaller boy's face. Harry felt his face heat up as he gazed into Draco's gray eyes.

"A-Alright," Harry whispered not taking his eyes off of the taller boy. "Step by step." Draco smiled softly and Draco gently led Harry inside while keeping a protective arm around his shoulder. As they stepped through the doorway, the familiar sight of the Great Hall greeted them. The long tables, the enchanted ceiling, and the loud chatters of the bustling students. Harry's breath hitched as he caught sight of the place where so many had fought and fallen. Draco sensed Harry's hesitation and stopped to face him.

"If you're okay with it we can sit at the Slytherin table with Blaise and the others... they won't mind or ask any questions." Draco suggested. Harry nodded mutely, allowing Draco to guide him towards the Slytherin table. Draco held Harry's hand and smiled to himself as he noticed a small smile on the smaller boy's face at the gesture. Just as the two boys were about to reach the table a loud voice from behind made Harry stop in his tracks.

"Harry Potter, where have you been?!" Hermione shouted stroming towards Harry and Draco gaining the attention of students nearby. Draco frowned as the smile on Harry's face fell. The raven-haired boy quickly let go of the blonde hand.

"Not now Hermione." Harry mumbled quietly.

"Not now?! How could you-" Hermoine started but was quickly cut off by Ron who rushed towards them.

"Hermione he said not now.." Ron interrupted with a frown. Hermione turned towards Ron in anger.

"You stay out of this Ronald!" Hermione snapped. "Where the hell have you been?! You didn't show up to dinner last night, you didn't come when it was night to sleep and you weren't there in the morning either! You didn't even have the decency to tell where you were going!!" Hermione shouted turning towards Harry again. The raven-haired boy held his head low as the students around them started to point and whisper.

"Mione' stop. Just let it be. This isn't the place to have this conversation." Ron added gently trying to ease the situation. Draco stood next to Harry unsure of what to do. The blonde knew he shouldn't get involved in this but the way Hermione was behaving was making his blood boil.

"You just leave without telling us and show up with Malfoy of all people!" Hermione continued ignoring Ron completely. "What did you do this time?!"

At this point, Draco was glaring daggers at Hermione and it took everything in him to stay quiet. A flicker of hurt crossed Harry's face at Hermione's last question. Ron stared at Hermione in disbelief.

"Why do you always assume the worst of me, Hermione?" Harry asked, hurt laced in his voice. Draco and Ron frowned at this but Hermione scoffed in anger and got closer to him.

"Do not twist my words!" Hermione replied jabbing a finger into Harry's chest. "Do you have any idea how reckless you are?! Did you even think to let any of us know where you're going? No, you didn't because you are so selfish and all you think about is yourself! You could've gotten hurt and no one would've known Harry! You always act without thinking about the consequences first and you don't stop to realize how your actions affect others! Get out of your head for once in your life and back into the real world for god's sake!"

Harry stared at Hermione with tears brimming in his eyes. The students around him fell silent as they stared at Hermione in shock. Draco clenched his fist in anger and took a calming breath trying to keep his anger in check.

"Mione' I know you're worried but this isn't the proper way to go about it." Ron interrupted in a sharp voice glaring at her. Hermione glared at Ron in return.

"Proper is telling your best friends what's going on Ronald! Not keeping everything to yourself!!" Hermione replied in anger. A tear fell from Harry's eyes pushing Draco over the edge.

"Leave Granger. Now." Draco said coldly as he stepped in front of Harry. Hermione rolled her eyes at the blonde.

"This doesn't concern you Mafloy, stay out of it." Hermione sneered in reply.

"It concerns me when you're the one making him cry, Granger." Draco said threateningly. "I'm saying this one last time, leave."

"Since when do you care about him? You've bullied him all your life!" Hermione said with a glare. Draco stood still not backing up making Hermione roll her eyes. "Come on Harry, let's go." Hermione continued looking at Harry. The raven-haired boy stood still with his eyes glued to the floor. "Are you fucking serious? You'd rather stay with that snake than your best friends?!" Hermione asked furiously. Having heard all the commotion, Blaise and Pansy walked towards them furiously.

"I believe Draco told you to leave, Granger." Pansy said to the bushy-haired girl with a cold stare. Both Pansy and Blaise stood next to Draco protectively. Hermione stared at the three Slytherins furiously before scoffing.

"Come on, Ron, we're leaving." Hermione snapped angrily, storming towards the Gryffindor table without even checking to see if Ron was following.
