Lost Boy- A Drarry Fanfic

Chapter 4- Dreadful Memories

"Listen Potter... I know we had a rough past and all but I really do want to help you, no strings attached I swear." Draco said softly with a frown on his face as he stared into Harry's eyes. "But I can only do that if you let me... Will you let me help you?" Draco asked as he gently brushed away a few strands of hair that were covering the smaller boys' eyes.

Harry looked into Draco's eyes and saw nothing but sincerity in them. He slowly nodded his head making the blonde smile at him reassuringly.

"Thank you for trusting me... I promise you won't regret it." Draco said earnestly as he interlaced his fingers with Harry's. Harry felt his face heat up slightly as looked down at his hand but he couldn't stop the small smile forming on his face and the feeling of safety he suddenly felt around the taller boy.

Draco held onto Harry's hand as they both made their toward the castle. Draco wasn't sure why he had interlaced their fingers and why he hadn't let go of the other boys' hand yet but something about it just felt right to him so he relished the feeling of Harry's hand in his as long as he could. Draco turned his head slightly to look at the shorter boy beside him and smiled seeing that Harry was much more relaxed now. Harry feeling eyes on him turned to look at Draco and gave him a small smile. The blonde felt his insides melt at the smile directed towards him and kept his eyes forward for the rest of their trip.

"Merlin Potter... what are you doing to me?" Draco thought to himself sneaking another glance at the raven-haired boy who was looking down at his feet as they quietly made their way toward the dungeons. Draco quickly mumbled the password once they reached the stone wall and brought Harry inside the Slytherin common room. Seeing as it was very late, the common room was deserted. Draco brought Harry towards the couches by the fireplace and motioned for the boy to sit there. Harry looked around the dimly lit common room hesitantly and slowly sat down.

Harry's thoughts started drifting off once again as he stared into the fire. He somehow found himself thinking about Snape, the head of the Slytherin house. Or at least he was until he passed away. He started picking on his fingers as he thought about Snape, his last words ringing through his mind.

"Look at me." Harry started into the eyes of the man he once used to hate. Snape tentatively reached out an arm and cupped Harry's face. "I'm sorry for everything... You have your mother's eyes..." Snape said with tears as he stared into the same eyes of the woman he fell in love with. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor and Snape's black eyes turned empty.

"No.. no no no no, please, no, don't die, please, I don't want another person to die because of me... don't leave me please..." A sob left Harry's mouth as he continued looking at the lifeless body of his professor on the floor with tears running down his eyes. Harry felt a pair of hands pull him up and he struggled against their grip. "NO!!"

Draco watched as Harry's breathing became more rapid and he quickly crouched in front of the couch taking Harry's trembling hands in his. "Potter it's okay, you're okay, nothing happened... No one's going to hurt you here I promise..." Draco said trying to keep the panic out of his voice. He has never seen Harry in such a state. Harry had always been so put together and now it was like the boy was falling apart. Harry squeezed his eyes shut and scooted away from Draco as he struggled to breathe but the other boys' grip on him prevented him from moving any further. Draco quickly moved onto the couch next to Harry and tried to help the boy.

"Harry look at me... it's alright, you're okay, nothing happened.. I need you to look at me love, please..." Draco said softly trying to get the trembling boy to calm down. He started stroking Harry's hair gently and continued speaking in a gentle tone. "You're safe Harry, I'm not going to hurt you and I won't let anyone hurt you either... Please look at me, love."
