Draco was in the midst of getting dressed when he heard the sound of thrashing making him stop what he was doing. He quickly ran out of the bathroom towards his bed and pulled aside his curtains to see Harry having a nightmare. Sweat covered the boys' face making his hair stick to his forehead as Harry twisted and writhed painfully in his sleep. The blanket draped on top of him tangled around his body making the boy squirm more in panic. Draco quickly moved forward removing the blanket from Harry's arms and legs. He ran his fingers through Harry's damp hair as he frowned at the boy worriedly.
"Harry wake up! You're okay, please wake up for me love, it's only a dream!" Draco said frantically as he shook the smaller boys' shoulders. Harry woke up with a start and quickly moved away from Draco pulling his knees to his chest. A sob wreaked through Harry's body as he started hyperventilating. The moments in the boys' nightmare felt so vivid and kept replaying in his head no matter how hard he tried to push them away.
Harry stood alone in a dark place that never seemed to end. He looked around confused and instinctively reached for his wand only to not find it in his pocket. Harry suddenly heard something behind him, a mix between a sob and a groan of pain. He quickly turned around to find himself staring at his mother, Lily Potter. She was crying in pain but her tears were red almost as if she was crying blood and her beautiful green eyes, which were the only part of her Harry had physically inherited, were an eerie white color.
Harry stared at his mother in horror as tears fell from his face. He slowly reached out to touch her but quickly retracted his hand as Lily looked at him with hatred. "It's your fault I died, it's your fault we died." Lily said in a disgusted tone. Harry sobbed and shook his head telling himself that this wasn't real. Slowly all the people who had died at the war emerged from nowhere surrounding Harry. Their eyes were white like Lily's had been with blood dripping down them and they all chanted the same thing: "It's all your fault."
Harry closed his eyes tightly and covered his ears hoping to block out their chants but no matter what he did he did he could still hear them. Harry's body trembled with sobs as they kept coming close. The raven-haired boy struggled to breathe as the close proximity of the others was starting to suffocate him. He started mumbling apologies over and over again as he cried.
Draco watched helplessly as Harry sobbed and mumbled sorry over and over again. He didn't understand what Harry had dreamt of and what he was sorry for but his heart ached at the sight in front of him. Draco slowly reached out to Harry but as soon as his hand came in contact with Harry's body Harry's sobs became louder and he moved further away from the blonde.
"Harry... look at me.." Draco said softly. Harry heard Draco but didn't make any effort to lift his head up and look at the blonde. His sobs subsided but it didn't change how miserable he felt. Harry felt weak for crying in front of Draco again and he hated himself for that. Draco could tell Harry had heard him so he cautiously moved closer to the smaller boy but made sure to keep some distance between them to ensure Harry didn't panic again.
"Please love, please look at me... I won't touch you if you don't want me to but could you please look at me hmm?" Draco continued as he stared at Harry. Draco sighed at Harry's refusal to look at him and got up to leave thinking it was best to leave him alone for some time. However, as he got up to leave an arm grasped his wrist making him freeze in place. Draco heard Harry's timid and shaky voice behind him.
"Don't go... p-please.. I don't wanna be alone... I-I.." The raven-haired boy started crying once again, making Draco's heartbreak at the sound. "I-I'm sorry..."
Draco sat on the bed once again making sure to leave space between him and Harry so he didn't feel suffocated like he did before. Harry still had a firm grip on the blonde's wrist but Draco didn't mind one bit. He sat there patiently listening as Harry's sobs turned into sniffles and his breathing slowly became steady. Draco cautiously turned towards Harry and gently tilted his chin so Harry would look at him.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Draco asked gently. Harry looked into Draco's eyes for a few seconds before averting his gaze down and shaking his head no. Draco frowned and gently pulled the smaller boy into a guy. "Is this alright?" Draco whispered as he rested his chin on top of Harry's head. Harry didn't reply but slowly wrapped his arms around the blonde's torso making Draco smile at the feeling. As much as Draco loved the feeling of holding Harry in his arms, he pulled away from the hug and looked into Harry's emerald eyes.
"I know you don't like talking about it.. but if you ever want to just know that I'm there to listen, okay?" Draco said sincerely. Harry slowly nodded his head and smiled lightly at Draco. "Good. Now, let's head to breakfast. It's already pretty late but luckily it's a Saturday." Draco said, pulling the smaller boy up with him.
Harry frowned at the mention of breakfast. He wanted nothing more than to just stay away from everyone. Just as Harry was about to reply someone barges into the room making Harry jump in surprise.
"Draco what the actual fuck is taking you so long?! Pansy is ready to kill-" Blaise said as he stormed into the room but abruptly stopped as he noticed Harry. All of Draco's roommates, including Blasie, noticed the Gryffindor boy in Draco's bed while getting ready for breakfast. Still, none of them questioned it knowing there was a good reason why the Harry Potter was sleeping on Draco's bed and why Draco was sleeping on the floor.
"Merlin Blaise! Why can't you walk in like a normal person for once?!" Draco said with an annoyed tone as he glared at the dark-skinned boy. Blaise smiled at him sheepishly, making Draco shake his head with a chuckle.
"Sorry about that but seriously though Pansy is going to kill you if you don't come down in 5 minutes." Blaise said, looking at Draco before looking at Harry. "You should join us as well Potter." Blasie added with a smile making Harry look at him in surprise.
"H-Huh? Me? Oh.. I uh can't..." Harry stuttered while trying to think of an excuse to skip breakfast.
"And why exactly is that?" Draco asked, staring at the smaller boy.
"Um... I ate a lot during dinner last night." Harry replied, staring at his feet. Draco and Blaise looked at each other with frowns as they both knew that the raven-haired boy had not shown up for dinner last night like usual. "B-Besides! I can't come looking like this." Harry continued chuckling nervously as he gestured to his pajama pants and the plain black shirt he wore last night.
Draco shared another look with Blaise before moving towards his closet and pulling out his quidditch jumper. Harry looked at Draco in confusion as the taller boy walked towards him and held out the jumper.
"You can wear this over your shirt. I would give you a shirt but you look pretty cold so... yeah." Draco said, holding out the jumper to Harry.
"Oh.. uh no it's fine... like I said I'm not hungry..." Harry said as he stared at the jumper in Draco's hand but the blonde continued holding out the jumper. This made Harry fidget with his fingers nervously.
"We get that you aren't hungry Potter but at least eat a little. Skipping meals really isn't good for you." Blaise said softly, staring at the smaller boy. Harry looked at Blaise and then at Draco before sighing in defeat.
"I... I wanna wash my face.." Harry mumbled to Draco as he took the jumper from him. Draco smiled at Harry and pointed towards the bathroom.
"There are extra toiletries and towels in the cupboards below if you need them." Draco said.
Harry slowly made his way to the bathroom and locked the door behind him. He let out a sigh and stared at his reflection in the mirror.
"I can't go to the great hall... not after I let so many people die in there.." Harry thought to himself as tears welled up in his eyes. "It's all my fault..."
