I look up at the sound of my assistant coming into my office.

"Hey, here's the information for your next book signing," She says while laying papers on my desk.

"Thank you," I say while picking up the papers.

I scan my eyes over the paper quickly and look to see where I'm going next. It's a city a few hours from here.

"We have to leave tomorrow," She says while I continue to look over the papers.

"Alright. I'll be ready by tomorrow then, Katie," I reply back to her.

She nods her head and turns on her heels and walks out of my office.

I pull out my phone and go to Adrian's number. I see the hundreds of messages I've sent over the years but haven't gotten a single response.

I miss her more than ever.

Wherever she's at, I hope she's doing well. She's probably already forgotten about me.

I hear a ping that awakes me from my trance.

It's a text from my boyfriend, Calvin.

I silently roll my eyes as he tells me he's going to be home late tonight. Of course. I already know he's cheating.

I pack up my things and make my way to my car to go home for the night.

"Calvin come on, the car's outside," I yell to him from downstairs.

He likes to go with me on these trips because he's insecure and doesn't trust me.

Although I'd really love to be alone for once.

I first met Calvin after graduating from University. He was working at the same place as me.

He was sweet to me and I thought he was charming. He asked me out a few times. But I was still waiting on Adrian.

When Elijah told me she was never coming back I finally accepted his offer to go out and we've dating ever since.

Two years to be exact.

My father isn't too fond of him because he's basically living off of us. He won't get up and get a job.

He's out all night with his friends and he cheats on me every night.

We get into the car and begin our drive to my next book signing.

"We should go out and have a girls night," Katie says from the driver seat.

"We really should," I reply back.

"Can I go with you guys?" Calvin says.

I roll my eyes and just silently nod my head.

I look up to see Katie rolling her eyes as well and going back to being silent. The whole car ride stayed pretty much this way.
