Evie always thought the mirror hanging on their bathroom door made her look bigger than she really was. And now, at nine weeks pregnant, she felt even bigger which didn't help how self conscious she was starting to feel. Evie turns to the left, and to the right, smoothing her hand over the little belly that was starting to poke through her clothes. It wouldn't be very long before her regular clothes wouldn't fit anymore, but thankfully, she could still put together something nice. Just a plain white shirt and a brown cardigan that she stole from Josh. Her pants were just some leggings that were only just starting to get a little tight. Of course, Josh had already told her that she looked fine an hour ago. As if today wasn't one of the most important days of her life.

Well, not the most important but it was definitely up there. She'd be meeting his parents tonight. The day after they had the ultrasound, Josh had stepped outside on the porch and gave them a call. What the call entailed, Evie did not know but judging by the laughter she could hear, it went well. They were busy the next few days, Josh had explained to her after talking to them, but could hop on for a video call within the next few days. Which was now, today. Evie leaves the bathroom finally, lazily brushing her hair. Dinner was long over but she could still smell the remnants of the curry Josh had made that night. The clinking of the dishes indicated Josh was still cleaning.

Evie abandons the brush and steps out into the hall, passing by the second bedroom that was still filled with boxes. She pauses, purses her lips together and decides to step back and look into the bedroom. Pushing the door open further, Evie's greeted with the sight of discarded boxes and disassembled furniture the couple had yet to put together. In the late evening light, all she could really make out were these items. This was going to be the room for the twins. October, if everything went well. She folds her hands together, letting out a shaky sigh. Where would they put the furniture? Could they paint the room? If so, what color? If it was one boy and one girl, it would have to be half and half, wouldn't it? There would need to be a changing table and stuffed animals too. A rocking chair. They would need so much. Likely two dressers since they'd be drowning in baby clothes. Evie looks down at her belly. Was she really ready?

"You okay, love?" Josh steps into the room, the squeaking floorboards under his feet giving his presence away. Evie turns back to look at him, "Yeah," she says, "I was just thinking."

"Thinking about?"

Evie folds her arms together and sighs, scanning the room once more, "About how fast this room is going to change. What we need in here... how many baby clothes are going to be in here. All of that." Josh wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her closer to his chest, "Does that make you anxious?"

"A little," Evie lets herself rest up against him comfortably, "I'm just thinking about where the furniture should go. Twins means double of everything, doesn't it?"

"Maybe just two cribs," Josh turns her around and plants a small kiss on her cheek, "Don't overthink things too much, dear. It's not good for you."

"I know..." Evie whined, "I think I'm just overthinking everything right now since we're talking to your parents tonight." Josh follows this with a small laugh, "Evie, they are nice people, I promise. Like, sickeningly nice. They are going to love you and you will love them. There is nothing for you to worry about."

"I knoooow," Evie whined again, "But, I'm just... I think it's just natural for me to be anxious. I mean it still doesn't look good to be your girlfriend of 2 months and pregnant. With twins, might I add." Josh purses his lips together, "Ah, I see," he said, "You're not worried about meeting them, you're worried about what they'll think of you."

"Yes," Evie nodded, "I'm worried they'll think I've like... stolen their son from them or maybe trapped him with a baby." Josh bursts out laughing, pulling Evie away from the bedroom and out into the hall, "Listen," he said, "If you had 'baby-trapped' me, then I don't think I'd be excitedly calling my parents to tell them some big news. I think I'd be a lot more... angry?" He would definitely be a lot more angry. And he probably wouldn't have moved cross country with her. "Just think of it as meeting some friends," Josh said as they strode into the living room, "Some friends who are excited to see you again."
