The sun was hanging low in the sky when they arrived in California and did Evie ever feel it. The time zone change plus the nausea were getting to her and she couldn't wait to just lie down. "The condo isn't too far from here," Josh said to her while they were loading up the rental car, "We'll be there very soon." Soon couldn't come fast enough for her though. Thankfully the bus came with emergency vomit bags that she unfortunately found herself using on the ride to the condo.
They did finally get to the condo, with the rest of the guys following to help get Evie and Josh's luggage into the home. It was a nice condo. Much more updated than the home they were staying in back in Frankenmuth. But Evie found herself missing that charm. "What are you doing still standing here?" Jake's voice interrupted her thoughts. She was standing in the living room area, staring at the fireplace. What was she doing here? Evie pressed her lips together in thought, "I'm not really sure."
"Well, you should be sitting and relaxing," Jake teased playfully, beckoning for her to sit on the sofa, "We're doing all the hard lifting so you don't have too. I'd take the time to enjoy it." Evie looks at the sofa and then at Jake before she sits down, nestling herself into a corner and folding her arms together, feigning displeasure. Jake seems pleased with this and he picks up the two suitcases he'd been holding, "Good, now stay there and don't move."
"And what if I do?"
"Then I'll make you do this yourself."
He flashes Evie a grin before disappearing down the hall, and she rolls her eyes. It was so strange being waited on hand and foot now. But it wasn't like she could complain. Carrying heavy luggage up several flights wasn't exactly what someone would call fun. Even if you were being assisted by an elevator. Eventually, the guys finish bringing in the bags for Evie and Josh and wave goodbye for the time being. They'd be right down the hall if anything was needed. Evie stretches herself out on the couch as Josh returns to the living room area, "You look cozy," he commented, "Is this place up to code for you?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Evie chuckled, "You know I'm not picky when it comes to places to live. First place I ever lived had a leak and probably bed bugs. This place has a view of downtown Los Angeles and I'm not complaining." Josh opens up a bag that was sitting on the counter and extracts his laptop from inside. "We got it for a pretty decent price," Josh said, taking a seat next to Evie and opening up the laptop, "You know we're the only people on this floor? The guy at the front desk said we're the first people to book the place since COVID started."
"Wow, really?" Evie was shocked, "We're really the only people here?" Josh nods, "Yeah, apparently business has been pretty slow. Which doesn't surprise me, if I were just a regular guy, I wouldn't be traveling." On his computer was an email marked for today. It had already been read. Evie didn't like to be nosy but she could see they were talking about meeting up the following day for the photoshoot that Josh had talked about a few days ago. "Are you excited for tomorrow?" Evie asked, nodding to the screen, "Looks like your manager has a busy day planned for you."
"Oh he does," Josh replied in a sigh, and Evie frowned. "Are you not excited?" she asked. "I'm excited," Josh replied, "But we're going to be so busy here that I'm not going to be able to see you much. Except maybe at night." Evie lets her head come to rest on Josh's shoulder reassuringly, "Hey, it'll be okay. We'll make the most of our time together," she said quietly, "Maybe we can sneak an adventure or two in between your commitments." Josh looks over at her and smirks, "What kind of adventure?" And Evie blushes, letting herself giggle a bit. Josh turns his attention away from the computer and plants a few kisses on Evie's cheek and neck excitedly while her laughing only gets louder. "Jooosh," she whined, "We can't do anything yet. We just got here. You brothers are probably still moving stuff in."
